‘My 600 lb. Life’ Season 4 Star Sean Milliken Has Died at Age 29

Yet another cast member from TLC’s My 600 lb. Life has passed away.

TMZ broke the news on Tuesday that Sean Milliken, who starred on the show’s fourth season, died Sunday after suffering complications from an infection. He was only 29 years old.

According to a Facebook post made by Sean’s father, Sean died at a Texas hospital, where he had been receiving care.

“Sunday he was having problems with his breathing; they were able to resuscitate him and a short time later his heart stopped,” Sean’s dad wrote.

Sean had reached a weight of 900 lbs. when he appeared on the show in 2016. At the time, he was bedridden and cared for by his mother Renee. During his episode he underwent a sleeve bypass operation that helped him lose about 300 lbs.

Sean’s mother died in 2017. Her death changed Sean’s life in multiple ways.

“His mother’s passing was extremely hard,” Sean’s friend Ashley Boone told Radar Online, “I think it changed him because he had to become independent which he’d never been before.”

Sean and his mother Renee meet with the show’s Dr. Now during his episode in 2016…

Following his mother’s death, Sean deleted much of his online presence. However, it appears that he continued to live in Houston, Texas (where the show’s doctor, Dr. Now, works out of).

“As most of you know he was in Houston, Texas to be a part of his long struggle with his weight,” Sean’s dad Matt wrote on Facebook on Sunday. “Today he lost the battle, but is now free to be with his mom, Renee M. Milliken. I’m sure she was waiting for his return home to be with the Lord and her.”

“They are both at peace now; in my mind a lot better place without the struggles we have with our bodies on earth!” he added.

Unfortunately, Sean is not the only ‘My 600 lb. Life’ participant to pass away. In August 2018, two former stars— Lisa Fleming and L.B. Boner— died weeks apart. In November 2017, Robert Buchel died from a heart attack while he was shooting Season 6, and in 2013, Season 1’s Henry Foots passed away due to a medical issue not related to his weight.

    1. I realize this is a long time after this comment was posted but, you are absolutely disgusting. To make this kind of a comment about someone who has died shows what a miserable person you are to the core. I’m quite sure you are not a pleasure to be around.

    1. That’s so true! And that’s exactly what was happening to me before I lost weight. I lived to eat, now I just eat to live.

  1. That’s insensitive. He very obviously had a mental illness. If his death was a result of his food addiction, he’s no different than any other drug addict. In fact, he’s not really different than people who commit suicide due to depression, bipolar disorder, or any of the other of the dozens of mental illnesses out there. If someone you loved committed suicide because, despite treatment, they just couldn’t overcome their depression, would you feel so comfortable saying “Good. One less depressed person to waste taxpayers money on”?

Long story short- he was still a person. An imperfect person just like the rest of us. With family that loved him. Have a little respect.

  3. I am so disheartened by a couple of comments made on this story. The fact that you would say such hurtful, hateful things about someone who has died, is just really sad. I hope one day you can look inward and figure out why you are the way you are.

  4. I remember the episode. So sad. His mother was such an enabler and I do blame her for his weight ordeal in life. Sadly, she passed away a year or so ago due to kidney failure. Poor Sean. I think he went into assisted care living after that. I wonder if he had any other enablers to give him food after his mother passed? RIP Sean.

  5. Both comments are disgusting and make me very sad. What terrible things to say about someone dying. I hope one day that you can look inward and figure out would make you say something so hurtful.

    1. This was in response to the comment The Ashley deleted herself. Obviously, the people commenting with negative remarks have never dealt with anything difficult in their life. Being addicted to food is one of the worst things ever, because unlike drugs or alcohol, you actually need to consume some amount of food to live. So you’re always battling yourself on a meal by meal basis. Shame on anyone who doesn’t have the mental capacity to put themselves in a pair of struggling shoes and try to have a shred of compassion for someone else.
