‘Sister Wives’ Star Meri Brown & New Boyfriend Amos Andrews Talk About Amos Having Multiple Divorces & Filing for Bankruptcy

“As long as he’s not currently married to all of those other women, we’re good!”

Meri Brown recently hard-launched her new boyfriendAmos Andrews on Instagram, and now the Sister Wives star and her new beau are addressing criticism coming their way via fans who have done a deep-dive into Amos’ past.

Meri— who has been dating Amos since October— seemingly addressed several recent news articles about Amos’ romantic and financial history, one of which exposed that he has been married and divorced four times. The Sun also revealed that Amos has filed for bankruptcy at least once, and that, according to one of his ex-wives, he was “fan-girl obsessed” with reality TV stars in his past.

During her latest “Fridays with Friends” Instagram Live session with her pal Jen Sullivan, Meri addressed several of the topics while sitting alongside Amos himself.

“I’ve been stuck in a bell tower waiting for Kody’s love for years. Gimme a break and let me get some finally!”

According to In Touch Weekly, Amos has been married (and divorced) four times, with his last marriage ending in 2021. On Instagram Live, Amos admitted to having three divorces under his belt, but did not address the fact that he’s been legally married and divorced four times, not three.

Meri seemed unbothered, though, even joking that, because she has an ex-husband (Kody) and three ex-sister wives, she “beat” him.

Amos admitted during the Live that he was more bothered by Meri’s past.

“Can you tell me if Meri being an ex-polygamist in the public eye on a television show raised any red flags?” Meri’s BFF Jen asked him.

“Yes, it was a little,” Amos admitted.

Meri and Amos also addressed how they met, revealing that they have known each other “for a while” but had never dated. Meri admitted that she pursued Amos, who at first only wanted to be friends with the ‘Sister Wives’ star.

“Give Mama some sugar, Big Boy!”

Jen told viewers that Amos has been honest about his past and that he had opened up to Meri (and her) so there would be no surprises for her. Meri said that she, too, was open about her polygamist past.

“I think it was the second time we talked,” Meri said. “He was like, ‘Yeah, I’m a really private person.’ I’m like, ‘Really?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah. I’m not on social media. I’m a really private person. I don’t let a lot of people into my life.'”

Jen then told Amos that, now that he was openly dating Meri, he needs to be ready to be “exposed” in the media and online.

“Amos, first, I would like to officially welcome you to the land of no privacy,” Jen said. “Where anything that is said, thought, assumed, or insinuated about you can and will be held against you in the court of public opinion and may be highlighted on social media and in poorly written articles full of half-truths, lies, and straight up bulls**t. Hope you’re ready!”

Meri and Amos also addressed the fact that he has filed for bankruptcy. Jen asked the couple how many bankruptcies they’ve had, and both Meri and Amos answered “one.”

(Meri filed for bankruptcy in 2005 with her then-legal husband Kody Brown. The couple’s reality show, ‘Sister Wives’ didn’t premiere on TLC until five years later in 2010.)

“It was just a KNIFE in my credit history!”

“Y’all, bankruptcies aren’t really a big deal!” Meri insisted.

Amos stated that he filed for bankruptcy “25 years ago,” and Meri said hers was that long ago, too. (Hers was 19 years ago but, hey, sometimes math is hard.)

Meri made it clear that she is not concerned about her man’s past financial hardships.

“Listen, everybody has been through issues before,” Meri said. “Who the heck cares that you had a bankruptcy? I can’t even…like, whatever! It doesn’t even matter….Things happen, and you just build your way out of it. It doesn’t define who you are.

“It doesn’t matter what happened to you in the past, who you are now is what matters and how you act on it,” Meri added.

Meri and Amos recounted their first date, with Meri revealing that she had a good feeling about him.

“The first night that we went out, he hugged me, and honestly, it was the best hug,” she said. “I just stood there and just let him keep hugging me. It was just a really very, very safe hug.”

Meri— who announced in January 2023 that she and Kody had (finally!) “permanently terminated” whatever was left of their spiritual marriage— made it clear that she is not allowing negative comments from fans affect her relationship with Amos.

“We’re happy, and we like each other a lot, a lot,” she said.

“And it’s all the outside voices, it’s actually voices in our heads too that a lot of times will come from outside voices, trying to tell you that you’re not worthy or you’re not good enough because you had a speeding ticket or a bankruptcy.”

  1. Meri is desperate. Totally ignoring the red flags. he also refused to pay child support for 7 years. Swell guy. I got hooked up with a jerk after my second divorce and learned a hard lesson from that. After dumping the jerk I seldom dated and stayed single for 16 years. I finally met my current and last husband. We dated one year before becoming engaged and we were engaged for another year. We will be married 30 years in May. Slow down Meri and really look at Amos and his track record. Don’t let the first good looking guy ruin your life after finally dumping Kody. You are worth more than that!

  2. I truly hope that this guy gives Meri thr love, acceptance, and validation she didn’t receive from her past partner. If she doesn’t have a problem with Amos’ history, neither should we.

P.S. what Jen said about the court of public opinion is completely accurate. Except in the case of this site. The Ashley has well-written and funny articles.

  3. Y’all, can we all allegedly agree… the only DOWNVOTE on every comment IS probably the one and only AMOS HIMSELF !!!

  4. A bankruptcy 25 years ago is a nothingburger, but four divorces? Wow, this guy has a terrible track record. Why does Meri think this time will be different? She comes across as so desperate.
