Jax Taylor revealed on Thursday that an intervention by a group of his friends was what finally led him to check into a mental health facility in Julyâ something The Valley star admits he was initially hesitant to do.
As The Ashley previously told you, Jax spent nearly 30 days this summer receiving inpatient treatment at a mental health facility, during which he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD.
On Thursdayâs episode of Bravoâs Hot Mic podcast, Jax spoke with host Alex Baskin (who is also an executive producer on âThe Valleyâ and âVanderpump Rulesâ) about the event that finally convinced him to seek professional help, despite already knowing that he âreally, really needed to go.â
âI was coming home from the gym, and my buddies were there and just saying, âListen, itâs time for you to go,ââ Jax recalled. âIt was a lot of people, andâ not to break the fourth wall or anythingâ but my manager saw me kind of going a little bit off the rails, and they said, âMaybe this is a good move for you.â So, I honestly have to thank them because I was bad. It was really, really bad.”
The former Vanderpump Rules star was separated from wife Brittany Cartwright at the time that he entered the facility, though the coupleâ who share 3-year-old son Cruzâ are now in the process of divorcing.
âI donât know where I would be if I didnât go to this institution,â he added.

According to Jax, the intervention took place two days after he learned that Brittany had hooked up with his friend Julian Sensleyâ something Brittany opened up about on the previous episode of Bravoâs Hot Mic podcast. Jax recalled finding out that Brittany had also sent photos of herself and photos of Cruz to Julian, which caused him to âsee redâ and even break some furniture inside his and Brittanyâs Valley Village home.
Jax said checking into the facility was scary and âprobably the hardest thing of my life,â though after a few days, he was able to âreally get comfortable.â
â ⊠By the end of the second week, I really, really liked it,â he added. âI loved being there.â
Alex mentioned on the podcast that this isnât the first time Jax has claimed that heâs changed, only to go on and prove otherwise. Alex also noted that Brittany has revealed herself to be among the skeptics; however, Jax insisted this time is different.

âThatâs [Brittanyâs] opinion,â Jax said. â[But] Iâve never been on medication in my entire life until I went through the facility, so I think this is playing a huge role. I was very stubborn [in the past] ⊠this is the first time Iâve gotten help.
â ⊠Ever since Iâve been on this medication, itâs been amazing,â Jax stated earlier in the podcast episode. âIâve had no outbursts; I havenât been angry. Itâs a game-changer.â
As for Brittany doubting that he has actually changed, Jax claims his estranged wife is simply speaking out of emotion.

âSheâs upset, sheâs going to hit below the belt,â he said. âSheâs gonna say things [like] Iâm not gonna change, sheâs gonna say this and that because sheâs hurt and she has every right to be, you know?
âAs youâll see in [Season 2] of âThe Valleyâ ⊠I was in a really dark, dark place,â Jax continued. âI did some really awful things and what I mean by awful things is I was verbally abusive ⊠.â
Jax said that, leading up to him checking into the mental health facility, he would often get angry and take out that anger on Brittany because she was âin the line of fire.â Jax acknowledged that his behavior was âso wrong,â though he also said he hoped that Brittany would at least consider him a good father to their son and that she would have hope that he could change as a person âdown the road.â
Later in the podcast, Jax said he believes Brittany actually has noticed a change in his behavior as of late, but that she doesnât âwant to admit it.â
Following the release of Jaxâs interview on Bravoâs Hot Mic podcast, Brittany took to her Instagram Story, presumably in response to her soon-to-be ex-husbandâs comments.
âOooooo I canât wait to record my podcast this week đ€„đ€„đ€„đ,â she wrote.

You can almost see on his face in that first pic he’s hoping it looks like he gives a shit.
This is PR, nothing more. He’s has no conscience and that’s unfixable.
Honestly their storyline is stale already. Jax is being Jax but Brittany’s behavior is a little off putting as well. I understand how difficult a toxic relationship is as I have experience with one but doing things to get back at the other person hinders your redemption story, in my opinion.
Fr, how much slack are people going to give Jax??? He hurts this woman for years and SHE’S the bad guy for walking away and speaking out. Oookay.
Jax is disgusting. I feel bad for his son. having a malignant narc as a father is going to traumatize that boy
