Amber Portwood‘s friendships with her Teen Mom co-stars go back 16 years, but during a rant on TikTok Live on Monday, the couch enthusiast made it clear that things between her and Maci Bookout and Catelynn Lowell are no longer hunky-dory.
As The Ashley previously reported, Amber took swings at MTV, Gary Shirley and the show’s producers during her Internet tirade, and even her longtime friends Maci and Cate weren’t safe from Amber’s anger. After Amber brought up how upset she got when some of her co-stars— particularly Cheyenne Floyd and Jade Cline— criticized her treatment of her daughter Leah during a recent episode, a fan in the Live chat pointed out that Maci and Catelynn have always stuck by Amber, a statement that Amber seems to disagree with.
“Maci and Cate have been good to me? Hold up real quick,” Amber said before flipping off the camera.
Amber did not elaborate on her reasoning for telling her former BFFs to essentially F off. To The Ashley’s knowledge, Maci and Catelynn have not publicly spoken negatively about Amber or her parenting. It appears, though, that Amber may be upset that Maci and Cate didn’t stick up for her after the other girls slammed her.
“I don’t want to hear from anybody, because my mouth will go waaaaaaaaahhh,” Amber said.
Amber claimed that she does not watch ‘Next Chapter’ and only knows what’s discussed on the episodes because her mother tells her. She did, however, slam MTV for getting the other girls on the cast to talk about her on-camera.
“I feel bad for my daughter and why she thinks the way that she thinks of me. And I feel bad for everyone else getting involved. I don’t think it’s right for MTV to push it on Cheyenne and them, to be sitting there [talking about me],” Amber said.
“I can’t watch this s**t because it gets too hurtful,” Amber added. “And I just don’t want to hear about it anymore. I’m not delusional, guys.”
As The Ashley previously told you, Amber spent a portion of the Live bragging that she was the girl who “started” the ‘Teen Mom’ franchise. When fans wrote in the comment section that they consider Maci to have “started” ‘Teen Mom,’ since her episode of 16 and Pregnant was the first to air, Amber got upset, insisting that, because hers was the pilot episode, she started the franchise.
As for Maci and Catelynn, they have yet to respond to being flipped off by Amber. However, the last time they were asked about Amber in an interview, they kept things as positive as possible. Back in January, while doing on-camera interviews to promote the new season of ‘Next Chapter,’ a reporter from TooFab asked Maci and Cate (along with Leah Messer) how Amber was doing following her traumatic breakup with Gary Wayt. While all three girls looked unhappy that Amber was brought up, they still refrained from saying anything negative.
“I wouldn’t say that it’s so much as ‘keeping tabs on her,'” Catelynn said. “I think it was more of checking in on a friend [and saying], ‘Hey, how are you doing? Are you OK?’ Which me and Maci both did. We both made it a point to reach out to her.”
“She knows that we’re there for her,” Maci— who actually went to North Carolina last June to pick Amber up after Gary 2.0 stranded her at a vacation rental home— added.
Cate did admit that she and Maci “haven’t heard from her much” but that wasn’t unusual for Amber.
“She kind of does that,” Cate said. “She’ll talk and she’ll reach out a lot and then she won’t. Maybe that’s a good thing, maybe she’s doing well.”
During Amber’s Live, Gary and his wife Kristina were also on the receiving end of Amber’s wrath, with Amber accusing them of purposely trying to shut her out of Leah’s life and doing illegal things to make it happen.
“Gary and Kristina never wanted me in [Leah’s] life,” Amber claimed. “They always said that she was busy, this, that and the other. All these excuses. And then all of a sudden Leah didn’t want to come stay [at my house] anymore. Blah blah blah. Guys, I have not been able to do anything with my daughter legally that I am supposed to [be able] to do. Because [Gary and Kristina] have been illegally doing their s**t.
“…[Leah’s] dad just needs to go away and let me be with my daughter alone,” Amber said later. “And that’s all I’ve wanted.”

I honestly think that Leah doesn’t want anything to do with Amber, she doesn’t want to see her or spend time with her. So, Gary and Kristina make give up excuses that she’s busy to prevent Amber from getting her feelings hurt from the truth!!

OMG, Just get rid of her already. She is only causing Leah more stress by doing these rants.
If Amber was telling the truth then she would be able to prove it. If Gary and Kristina were actually doing “illegal things” then why not take them to court especially if there’s a court order granting Amber visitation rights to Leah. I have a feeling its probably one of those things where she asked to see Leah last minute & was told no & Amber just never asked again & turned it into Gary keeping Leah away from her. Amber has a tendency to be extremely manic so I definitely wouldn’t allow Leah to be alone with her. Amber is confusing the IPTG’s as laws when in fact they are not. I have a parenting time order in Indiana & unless your parenting plan is written to specifically state what is allowed or not allowed then you don’t have much room to argue. Gary is in the wrong for allowing Leah to dictate when she sees Amber because its never okay to allow the child to decide & that is one thing Indiana Courts are very strict on.
Not saying it’s not possible this is just Amber being… well Amber but there is no way she’s not completely off her meds now. I suspect she’s doing other stuff too.
Amber has always been selfish, she only wants to be a parent when it’s convenient for her. She has no accountability, and no self-awareness. Cursing her daughter out on her birthday on TV and drinking. They were smart enough to leave her sitting there in the restaurant, so that she wouldn’t ruin the rest of her day. Let Kristina fill the void in that poor girls life. So she can start getting on with her life. You’re the one that’s canceled, not teen mom 2, your own actions have led this to happen. Good luck getting a job and supporting yourself on the couch.

I guess she doesn’t realize her days of manipulating and putting Leah on guilt trips are over. IMO she thinks if she can get Leah alone, she can manipulate her , like when she was little. It seems to me that Gary has bent over backwards trying to keep Amber in Leah’s life(until recently).

A really don’t like amber, but her behavior lately is concerning. I’m wondering if she’s alone? I know before when she went on tangents, she took it out on her relationships and it appears she is single. I really hope this isn’t the beginning of a spiral so bad she ends up hurting herself or even more.

Leah has repeatedly said on camera for YEARS that she doesn’t want to be alone with Amber. I’d get a restraining order at this point, because that really did feel like a threat against Gary and Kristina.

I doubt her family will do anything other than continue to coddle her, unfortunately. Her talking about how she wants Leah alone and how the relationship would be good with Gary out of the way (paired with her history of insane violence and her deteriorating mental state) is what has me concerned. The Shirleys need to be filing some type of protection order against her, or at the very least harassment. She’s worse every day.

Leah gets to see all the footage from TM, the good the bad and the ugly, and she sees Amber was all talk and that Gary and Kristina both tried very hard to support and keep Amber in Leah’s life. Gary has picked her a$$ up for jail, has gone to court dates and been a shoulder for this women all when he never had to be, even when i think of that its shocking considering he was on the end of her DV. This is all documented for Leah to watch and have all the knowledge she needs to make her own decisions!
Amber has never tried to pursue or enforce visitation rights for Leah. She talked about it when Leah was younger mostly so she could complain about how Gary is the bad guy. But, she has never done it. She’s never gotten Leah’s sports schedule so she could attend volleyball games. She’s never gotten the school calendar so she could attend meetings or be involved. She just sits on her couch whining about Gary and Kristina keep her from Leah. If she wanted to fight to be in Leah’s life she could have. But, then she wouldn’t have been able to cry about what a victim she is.
And, in true Amber form, she’s burning the Catelynn/Maci bridge too. Sounds about right.
I never realized she never did all that. I was a non custodial parent too but I always kept my visitation, paid my child support, paid for what was needed, attended parent/teacher conferences, got grades, spoke to teachers, etc..
Well I hope Catelyn and Maci hear about this and wipe their hands clean of her and don’t have her back anymore. They always supported Amber, and never talked bad about her even though she deserved it. Amber hopefully just lost the 2 people who actually had her back.
unfortunately i feel like they’ll still have her back when she treats them like gary and kristina, not talk to them for months after starting mess with them and then coming back around when she’s feeling better like they’re a big happy family and act like nothing happened
