Floribama Shore star Kirk Medas lost his battle with necrotizing pancreatitis and sepsis on Friday, according to a Facebook post made by his reality TV co-star Aimee Hall. Kirk’s family later confirmed the sad news to TMZ, stating that Kirk’s official cause of death was liver failure.
Kirk— who appeared on the MTV show for all four seasons— had been fighting for his life for the last two weeks in the intensive care unit of a Miami hospital. The 33-year-old had been placed on a ventilator and into a medically induced coma. On Thursday, Aimee shared a photo of Kirk in his hospital bed, as well as a GoFundMe set up for him and his family, as he had no medical insurance at the time of his hospitalization.
The fundraiser– which had been slated raise money to pay for rehab and recovery for Kirk— has been changed to “Funeral Arrangements & Medical.” Aimee, along with other ‘Floribama Shore’ stars Nilsa Prowant, Codi Butts, Candace Rice, Jeremiah Buoni, Mattie Lynn Breaux and Gus Smyrnios had been sharing the fundraising page, as well as updates on Kirk’s condition.
According to Aimee, Nilsa— who had a very close bond with Kirk— had flown to Miami several times to be by his side.
As of press time, the GoFundMe for Kirk has raised more than $27,000.
In her Facebook post— which seems to have been deleted since it was posted on Friday— Aimee claimed that she was at peace knowing Kirk is “no longer in pain.” However, she wrote that her “heart is shattered.”
“He’s in heaven now — free, whole, and making everyone laugh the way only he could,” Aimee wrote in the post. “Kirk had the kindest soul, a heart full of love for everyone he met, and a spirit that brought people together. He truly was the glue that held us all close.”
In addition to ‘Floribama Shore,’ Kirk appeared on shows such as Wild ‘N Out and Fear Factor.
After news broke on Friday of Kirk’s death, a message was posted to the official ‘Floribama Shore’ Facebook page.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Kirk Medas, a beloved member of the ‘Floribama Shore’ family,” it read. “Our hearts go out to his family, friends and fans during this difficult time.”
495 Productions— the company that produced ‘Floribama Shore’— also issued a statement about Kirk’s passing.
“We are heartbroken over the passing of Kirk Medas, a beloved member of our ‘Floribama Shore’ family. Kirk brought life, laughter and loyalty to every moment— both on-screen and off. He was more than a cast member, he was family. Our hearts are with our loved ones, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. We will forever cherish the joy and memories he gave us,” the statement read.

In March, Kirk posted to Instagram that he had been making changes to his life, one of which appeared to have been quitting drinking alcohol.
“Lost a lot the past year but stayed resilient through it all. Mind, body, spirit. Changing my lifestyle completely was the start. Putting down the bottle and picking up the Bible was the best thing I ever done,” he wrote. “My only regret is not making such changes earlier on in life. Still far from perfect but my mind is so much more clear. This is the loneliness men should go through. Me vs me.”

RIP. 💔
I donated to this campaign. I rarely donate to celebrities or public figures. This one hit me to my core.
I don’t know what led to Kirk’s death. I do know that 33 is far too young. By all accounts, he was a kind soul and loved by many. Rest in peace. Much love.
