Savannah Chrisley Considering Congressional Run After Securing Presidential Pardons for Her Parents

“And I propose a bill that gives all reality TV stars a 50 percent discount on teeth whiteners!”

Savannah Chrisley’s future may be in Washington, D.C.

The former Chrisley Knows Best star revealed in an interview with Juju Chang on the new special IMPACT x Nightline: The Chrisleys: Life After Lockup that her time campaigning to have her parents released from prison may lead to a political career.

“There’s been some talk of a congressional run,” Savannah said in the interview. “I don’t know if that will or will not be the thing that I do or if it’s what I’m called to do, but also I believe right now my goal is to speak to younger voters.”

In the interview, Savannah described the work she put in to have parents Todd and Julie Chrisley’s tax evasion and bank fraud convictions either overturned or pardoned.

“I worked for two-and-a-half years, I did not have a single political connection. I went to D.C., I forced myself into rooms I was never invited into. I educated myself,” she said.

Last month, President Donald Trump granted Todd and Julie full pardons. Now out of prison, the two have already signed on to a new reality show that will capture their releases from prison and launch of a new business venture— a hotel in South Carolina. Along with daughter Savannah, the Chrisleys say they’re dedicated to fighting for criminal justice reform.

“I didn’t realize how broken the system was,” Savannah said. “I thought bad people go to prison and that’s what it was, and that is far from the truth because now I have seen all the broken things in the system, where individuals have to be rehabilitated, where we need mental health treatment for these individuals, as well as giving them job opportunities and advocating for them when it comes to that.”

In a Fox News interview with first daughter-in-law Lara Trump, Savannah described some of the work she has planned following her family’s current post-pardon media blitz.

“I’ll be back in D.C. to help other individuals hopefully get home, to implement some things within the Bureau of Prisons. I reached out to the Chipotle CEO who’s opening 3,600 more stores, I’m like, ‘Let’s hire men and women who are getting out of prison,’” she said.

Both Juju and Lara asked Savannah and her family to comment on her appearance at the Republican National Convention where she talked about her parents’ convictions.

“I do believe that because of [our going to prison] Savannah would have never truly stepped into her true self,” Todd said in the Fox News interview. “To watch your daughter step onto that stage at the RNC and to speak so well and the level of pride that you have as a parent was never the television, it was that moment, because I knew then I had raised a warrior.”

In addition to speaking at the convention, Savannah appeared at various conservative events, including the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in February and the Young Women’s Leadership Summit presented by Turning Point USA earlier this month.

“I realized how important it is to have younger voices in the political world because I truly do believe if we don’t get younger individuals in then the Republican Party could die. So my goal is to encourage individuals who are my age and younger to get out, vote, your voice matters. I don’t care if you are one person. One daughter literally changed the world for my family,” Savannah said in the Fox News interview.

‘IMPACT x Nightline: The Chrisleys: Life After Lockup’ is now streaming on Hulu and Disney+.

  1. “I didn’t have DC connections!”
Honey, they watch trashy tv too. Don’t act like you’re an everyman who punched above your weight in your ‘fight.’
I’m so sick of this family and I have never watched one second of their shit show.

  2. Two comments…1) the way she talked about her running makes it clear that OTHER people have discussed her running and she’s looking at like an opportunity. Some people actually run because they feel called to do so and have the chops to understand hard discussions and budgets. She’s determined and I’m sure she’s a nice person, but the other stuff I don’t know. This sounds like something to put on her resume. An “opportunity” she can’t pass up.
    2) There’s an entire party that’s been advocating prison and sentencing reform for ages. If it takes your parents going to the slammer to awaken to the fact that the US has a broken system, then you have only been watching one news channel or maybe not at all. Americans don’t need someone that just woke up to the state of affairs. They deserve someone who has already been participating with their eyes and ears open. So tired of these vanity politicians. Sit down.

  3. Didn’t know there were so many old ladies on this site!
To all you “old hags”… Woman don’t have to sleep our way to the top anymore! We are smart, educated, free thinkers!
If we’re against something or someone we will rally, we will volunteer, and we will defeat you!
And above all we support other woman.
Props to Savannah. If you disagree with her than get up and run for office yourself!

    1. Only one person said any such thing, relax. The rest of us are eye-rolling for other reasons. Nothing to do with being a woman at the top of any field. That is obviously a GOOD thing.
The silly part is, that in what world does she have the education & experience to be a Congresswoman?
Her jobs have been: reality television personality, podcast host, realtor, “Sassy by Savannah” products, and sponsored social media posts. And all of which started because of who her parents are.

    2. Literally only one person said that but you went ahead and attacked every woman on this site. 🙄 Pot meet kettle. You don’t get to attack people because one single person offended you. That makes you a jerk too. I think you’re really just offended that this site isn’t full of MAGA women. We have a mix of everything here, including people from other countries. But you go ahead and cry victim, sweetheart.

I wish this site would just stop reporting on this family. The articles being out the crazies that we never see otherwise. The comments are always a ceasepool.

    3. Dude….stfu, and stop thinking you get to speak for all women.

Yes, women can do all of that, if we want to. You’re forgetting one very important aspect, we don’t HAVE to do a god damn thing we don’t want to do. That includes “supporting other women”. Just because we share a gender, doesn’t mean we share opinions or have to “stick together” in some weird feminazi cult. Women are just as capable of being ridiculously delusional, uneducated, willfully ignorant, arrogant and most definitely not worthy of support from anyone, much less being placed in a government position. This is precisely where this chick fits in, as she is all that and so much more (none of it good). She gets absolutely zero props, lol.

I have a brain, and occasionally, I like to employ it. I don’t need anyone else deciding that for me, whether or not they have a vagina.

    4. Oh noes. The “boss babes” are coming. 🙄. Look, I would 100% agree with you on woman empowerment…except this is the opposite. People are looking to prop her up. Reread her statements. If she really wants to make a difference in this area she can realize there are organizations that are making a difference and know a lot more about this. I’m sure they’d love to have her as an advocate. She’s so out of touch she doesn’t even realize she got those meetings because she’s a known figure. She just thinks she’s the first one to think of it.

    5. Savannah is neither smart, educated or a free thinker. She willfully lives in ignorance/refuses to accept facts, and is still clearly (at least partially) controlled by her dad.

She is delusional if she thinks her parents were targeted because they are “conservative Christian” (though they certainly don’t act like Christians nor true conservatives). Her parents blatantly committed fraud and cheated on their taxes.

If there is one thing the government will get you for, it’s tax evasion or tax fraud. Just look at all the mobsters they’ve been able to convict via tax crimes.
