Olivia Plath is waging war against her ex-husband Ethan, his family and TLC— the network that Olivia is claiming has ignored and/or covered up abuse and given the Plaths a platform via their reality show Welcome to Plathville.
Olivia— who has become more and more vocal about the alleged homophobic, racist and threatening actions Ethan and his family have committed over the years— took to Instagram on Friday to blast TLC, Discovery (which is the parent organization for TLC) and the show’s producers for allegedly covering up or ignoring some very disturbing statements and actions made by Ethan and the Plaths, including one incident in which she informed TLC that Ethan allegedly had a “hit list” of people he wanted to shoot, one of whom was the executive producer of ‘Welcome to Plathville!’
“You’re being lied to, and I think you should know about it,” Olivia began her video, which was meant for ‘Welcome to Plathville’ fans and viewers.
“I no longer want to be a part of that show, largely because of the behavior of other cast members on that show. Also, because I have found and know TLC to be a completely unethical network. Not only are they covering up abuse, they’re also lying to you about their values and what they stand for,” Olivia claimed.
“And when I say this, the most-common thing I hear is, ‘Olivia, we all know these big networks and corporations aren’t ethical.’ So? Does that mean they get a pass?” she continued. “Just because we know that big corporations take advantage of people and don’t have ethics and values because they’d rather have the money, does that mean they just get a pass? I don’t think so. You can decide that this doesn’t matter to you but I’m still going to share it because I think that it matters, and I think that there are also people who would want to know about this who may not be informed.”
Olivia then went on to provide a couple examples of some of the disturbing— and downright creepy— things she claims Ethan and his family have done or said over the years, all of which Olivia said she informed TLC of.
“I sent a full report to TLC– including dates, people involved and exact quotes of things said— and it was all dismissed by them,” she said. “[TLC] basically said, ‘Sorry you felt unsafe, you should have called the cops!'”
Olivia— who announced her split from Ethan in 2023— came forward earlier this year to reveal she had allegedly been a victim of Ethan’s abuse. In her video from Friday, Olivia claimed that the show is being edited in a way that is “rewriting history.”
Here are some of the most-disturbing things Olivia revealed in her video.
Ethan allegedly had a “hit list” of people he wanted to shoot, including people who worked on the show.
Olivia has stated that her marriage deteriorated in part because she and Ethan grew to have very different viewpoints, something that Ethan allegedly was not happy about– so much so that, according to Olivia, Ethan wanted to kill people who he felt contributed to Olivia becoming more open-minded.
“My ex said that he wanted to shoot the people that he thought were making me more liberal,” she said. “He named them by name. Included on this list of people were the executive producer of the show and the head of the camera department, because he thought that they were influencing me to be more liberal. That was completely dismissed; TLC did not give a f**k.”
Olivia also claimed that some of her friends were on Ethan’s alleged hit list.
Ethan allegedly was happy about a hate crime shooting that took place at an LGBTQ+ club in 2022 & hated queer people:
Olivia stated that Ethan was not disturbed by the shooting that occurred in 2022 at Club Q, an LGBTQ+ club in Colorado that killed five people. In fact, according to Olivia, Ethan allegedly applauded those responsible for the shooting.
“When he heard about it on the news, he said, ‘Good. It’s about time someone did something about those people,'” Olivia claimed, adding that she included this alleged fact in the report she gave to TLC, but the network “did not give a f**k about all of it.”
Olivia stated that the network’s website claims to promote inclusivity, but “it’s a lie.” She also slammed TLC for continuing to give shows to members of extreme religions and groups, such as the Plaths, despite proclaiming to be inclusive.
“They keep giving people platforms who they know are fundamentalists, extremists, religious people and it’s all for the quirkiness of it…the reality is these people’s beliefs deny the reality of the very viewers of the show,” she said. “The people who watch the show, a large majority of them do not have the same beliefs, do not live the same lifestyle, and my ex would deny their reality, and champion them being shot with a gun, and made threats himself…
“All this was turned in in the report, and TLC does not care…they do not actually uphold those ‘values,’ they’re lying to you. It’s all about money,” she added.
Olivia brought up the fact that TLC frequently makes shows that are about or include queer people.
“Yeah, and you don’t give a f**k about their human rights, Discovery,” she said. “My ex said that those people should be shot and he championed that— which is hate speech which often escalates to hate crimes… [he] said that if he had a child that was gay he would tell them to get the f**k off his lawn and never talk to them again. He said that. I have a video of it. I have been sharing some of these videos on TikTok…”
Ethan would allegedly pretend his finger was a gun and would pretend to “shoot” Black people when he saw them on TV.
“I also turned in a report stating that he was pretending to shoot Black people on TV,” Olivia said.
She claimed that Ethan would also do this when he saw people of other groups that he did not like.
“He was pretending to shoot people on TV with a gun. Black people, LGBTQ+ people, and told me that he believed that they should be shot,” she said.
Although Ethan was just pretending to shoot people on TV, Olivia claimed that he did sleep with a loaded gun under their mattress while she was married to him.

“I had a handgun that I wanted to turn into the police department in Minnesota– it’s not registered and I bought it as a teenager when I was very deep into the cult mindset—…as an adult, I realized I did not want an unregistered handgun and I was trying to turn it in,” she said. “[Ethan] kept stealing it from me and wouldn’t let me [turn it in] because he said it was ‘too woke.’ He kept it loaded under the mattress of our bed, kept putting it there on multiple occasions. That’s not safe! I don’t want to sleep with a loaded gun under the mattress. He kept confiscating it and he wouldn’t let me turn it into the police..”
The Plaths are not the wholesome, Christian people that they are portrayed as on ‘Welcome to Plathville,’ according to Olivia.
Olivia claimed that the show tries to paint the Plaths as a nice, religious family, but that’s not who they really are.
“From the very conception of the show, it’s been unethical. There’s been so much abuse hidden…” she said. “They’re currently still lying to you.”
“They’re promoting this family as a wholesome, Christian nice family and that’s just so far from the truth or what’s behind the scenes,” Olivia continued. “They’re allowing them to rewrite history on-air that I was the one who did XYZ, all these things, when it’s actually been on-air that that’s not truth.
“You guys should know who you’re watching, who you’re consuming, and who the network is trying to paint as innocent and wholesome and a lighthearted good family show. And it’s not. It’s absolutely not. Behind the scenes, they’re very hateful people.”
Olivia revealed that she will probably face consequences for speaking out.
“The network has given me grief [over that], for no reason because I’m not even in the show anymore. It’s a power move,” she said. “I’ll probably get threatened because I’m sharing this but I think you guys should know you’re being lied to.”
The new season of ‘Welcome to Plathville’ is set to premiere on July 22 on TLC.

If everything Olivia now says is true then she is a marvelous actress. It appears she went along with her marriage to Ethan and the money was good. Then TLC no longer wanted her on the show and now she shares all of the negative. And why is she keeping the Plath last name. That’s the last thing I would want if the abuse were true. Grow up and move on please, Olivia.
True TLC has issues… But I think Olivia is trying to put the show down to get it cancelled since she is no longer part of it. If she had issues with Ethan’s behaviors, why did she stay with him so long? Also, to state that TLC only puts fundamentalists and religious families is complete nonsense. Has she ever bothered watching 90 day fiance, My Big Fat Fabulous Life, I Am Jazz, or Leaving the Amish? TLC has a broad mix of shows, most are very drama or tension filled. But they certainly are not all religious families. 90 day fiance is pretty trashy, even beyond night time soaps at times..Jazz is about a trans young woman finding her way in the world, and Leaving Amish was all about young ppl leaving extreme religious control in Amish communities and trying to fit in with outside society(and had some trashy behavior, to put it mildly). So Olivia stating they don’t put anything other than religious stuff on is utterly false. TLC pushes drama. And the more dramatic or contentious, the better the ratings. Also, I felt Olivia was the one that wanted to be in charge in the marriage, not the other way around, she is a control freak, just with a softer voice. She knew who Ethan was and what his values or opinions were, yet she still married him. Young or not, she has to own that now. Ethan is likely programmed to dislike gays and liberals, it’s not any new info. I don’t believe he was seriously threatening ppl, she just wants to get him in trouble. Time for her to truly move on and focus elsewhere. TLC can’t do anything about her letters, there’s no proof of her accusations. Probably very angry & jealous since Ethan has moved on, so she’s trying her best to get him in trouble. Why hasn’t this manipulative bitch moved on, since she’s the one that wanted out of the marriage? She still can’t get over the family’s rejection. If someone rejects you that you have no respect for, do you care? No! Then why is she consumed by it? Because they were right and she knows it. While I agree that the Plaths are way more hateful than they let on, and are obviously terrible people. Olivia did film for the new season that is about to come out. She says she’s not on the show anymore, well it’s not currently filming. She filmed when everyone else did. I’ll believe she’s done with the easy money the show brings, when they film a season she is not apart of.

She is in a legally binding contract. You can’t just not show up. But she has written to TLC and asked to be released from her contract. Hopefully TLC does the right thing for once.
We will see when the next season is filmed. She will be on it still. You can’t say you’re done with the show, and still film it.
I’m not saying she’s a bad person or that I don’t believe her, I do believe her. The Plaths are awful. I’m saying she’s still filming the show. You have no idea whether she’s in a contract still or not.
The filming was filmed in the spring/fall of 2024. So she isn’t “currently” filming. It’s just going to begin airing on the 25th.
Olivia said she was under contract and that she wrote TLC asking to be released. She discusses it personally in SM. I’m thinking she would know whether she is or isn’t.

I 1000% believe her. There are recordings that Olivia released and are currently making the rounds on Reddit. Ethan is a sadistic asshole. She has recordings of him talking like a psycho discussing what he would do if his pretend children dared to not be straight. The venom and hatred he spews is disturbing.
Micah’s ex Veronica is also releasing statements about who this family really is. She released a recording of TLC admonishing her for telling the truth. Veronica said that Ethan was scary and had threatened her on multiple occasions. She said they are all screwed up and hateful prejudiced people but Ethan is the worst.
I never bought their golly gee wholesome image. But let’s be real. This isn’t breaking news. TLC has employed pedophiles, several who committed domestic violence and they KNEW about it. (Looking at you Geoffrey) They watched several cast members commit domestic violence on their cameras that they recorded and aired and continued to employ them. There is a whole list of screwed up things that this network overlooks.

If he did have a child that was gay, he’d adjust and accept it, same as his parents did when their children rejected many of the beliefs that were instilled in them. One of the things Ethan admires the most about his dad is how he loves and accepts his kids and is always there for them no matter what.
