Moriah Plath took to social media on Monday to address some of the recent criticism she’s been receiving online regarding her appearance.
In a new Instagram post, the Welcome to Plathville star told fans that she recently lost all of her hair, as well as her eyelashes and eyebrows to alopecia. She stated that she’s been “hesitant to share” what she’s been dealing with because it’s “a vulnerable and sensitive thing” for her already, and the negative comments she’s received lately about her style, hair and makeup choices have made things harder.

“ … many of which were reasonable [comments] cause even I look back and am like goodness Moriah you look a bit crazy haha,” she joked, adding that the “best part” of life is “having fun and not beating your younger self up.”
Moriah then went on address some of the more-recent criticism she’s received about her appearance, reminding followers that she has struggled with alopecia nearly all of her life. Moriah explained that because her hair grew back when she was around eight years old, her alopecia has been manageable for the most part. However, she revealed that alopecia recently caused her to lose all of her hair again.
“ … a few months ago I lost all my hair, eyebrows and eyelashes again,” Moriah wrote. “It was extremely hard and emotional and I had to come to terms with it.”
The TLC star said that she initially cried a lot after losing her hair again, though she reminded herself that, “it is what it is” and decided to “make the most of it.” Moriah said that while she’s “not very talented yet” at wearing wigs and struggles to draw her eyebrows on daily, she’s still trying to “master” both, which may be why she looks “a bit odd or different” to fans lately.
“ … I’m learning to laugh where I can and cry when I need to and just accepting it,” she wrote. “I’ve stuck with the same black wig cause I wasn’t prepared for all the questions but it is what it is now.”
Moriah also told fans that her current appearance is not the result of her having any sort of cosmetic procedure, insisting that the only thing she’s done along those lines is Invisalign.
“ … I’m learning to love myself the way God made me, with or without hair…it’s a continuous struggle but I’m getting there!” Moriah wrote. “If you choose to get [cosmetic] work done, no judgement. But do know that you are beautiful the way that God created you, unique!
“And honestly, I tend to think that our imperfections and insecurities are actually some parts of us that are most beautiful,” she continued.
Moriah concluded her post by reminding others to consider what someone may be going through before criticizing or commenting on their appearance.
“ … they probably are harder on themselves than you are,” she added.
It’s unknown if Moriah will open up about having alopecia on Season 7 of ‘Welcome to Plathville,’ which is set to premiere July 22 on TLC.

Hair can really define people and its part of their identity so I sympathize with her about her hair loss. Just hope she knows that its not all that identifies her and bald can be just as beautiful too.
I wonder if her relationship with that mystery guy fell apart again before she moved to Montana. She indicated last season that stress triggers that condition.
I feel bad for her. She’s a brave soul. I like that about her. She also seems very fragile at the same time.
While I don’t have alopecia, I do have a couple different autoimmune diseases and stress definitely causes flares for those conditions. I can’t imagine how hard losing all your hair would be on top of the preexisting stress that caused her flare.
Ok
