After recently changing her last name on social media to her boyfriend’s last name, and proceeding to post a series of black and white photos to Instagram accompanied by a very vague caption, former Chrisley Knows Best star Lindsie Chrisley has confirmed that she and her boyfriend of less than a year have not eloped, nor are the pair even engaged.
Lindsie is the eldest daughter of Todd Chrisley and stepdaughter of Julie Chrisley; however, the 35-year-old shares a complicated relationship with both, as well as some of her siblings.
While Lindsie was previously married to Will Campbell, who is also the father of her only child Jackson, Lindsie resumed using her maiden name of “Chrisley” after her divorce, only deciding to change her moniker earlier this month from “Chrisley” to “Landsman.” Landsman also happens to be the last name of the man Lindsie has been dating for less than a year, David Landsman.
Lindsie revealed on the July 16 episode of her podcast The Southern Tea that, while she believed she had “quietly” changed her last name on social media, she acknowledged that it would still likely raise questions from fans; however, she said she wasn’t prepared for “how quickly” people would notice the switch.
As a result, Lindsie explained the reason behind her decision to listeners, insisting that, aside from her family’s former reality show, the last name Chrisley “did not create income or opportunity” for her and had actually done the opposite.
“In fact, it became very problematic with me being associated in any capacity in business and has been problematic for projects that I have done post-‘Chrisley Knows Best’ and have been asked to go by another name altogether,” she claimed.
Lindsie’s comments were presumably referring to her dad and stepmom’s legal issues. As The Ashley previously told you, Todd and Julie were convicted of tax evasion and fraud crimes in 2022 and sentenced to federal prison that same year for 12 and seven years, respectively, before being released last month after receiving a full pardon by President Donald Trump.
As for the reason she chose to change her last name to the same last name as the man she’s currently dating, Lindsie insisted it wasn’t “a long and drawn-out situation.”
“And after my divorce, I did return to my maiden name, Chrisley, because that’s just what I knew to do,” Lindsie explained on her podcast. “It wasn’t because it felt necessarily right, it was just truly what was left. It was a name that I was born with, and it did no longer feel like mine. But what am I supposed to do?”
“[Changing my last name to my boyfriend’s last name] was a decision that I made about reclaiming my peace and stepping into my future that is defined by love, growth over the past couple of years and just forward movement,” she said. “The big question is, is David and I married, and we are not married.
“I feel that it is fair to say that he built a safe and loving relationship that allows for stability in my life and in Jackson’s life,” she continued. “And in this chapter, that name feels like home to me. It has nothing to do with erasing my past. It is all about choosing my future and protecting the people that I love most while doing so. And I felt like it was the right thing to do.”
Further adding to the recent speculation around Lindsie’s marital status was a carousel of professional photos she posted to Instagram featuring herself, David and Jackson taken in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, in which Lindsie appeared to be wearing a white dress.
“A little preoccupied 🤍,” she captioned the post.
The topic of Lindsie’s new last name was also discussed on the latest episode of her and Kail Lowry’s Coffee Convos podcast, after Kail revealed that she had seen rumors on TikTok that Lindsie and David had eloped. In response, Lindsie confirmed again that she is “absolutely not married,” telling her co-host there’s a “bigger story to the decision” she made to change her name on social media.
“ … that’s a private conversation that you and I can have, cause I don’t want to cry,” Lindsie told Kail. “But to answer your question, no. And I would not secretly go and get married and not tell my inner friend group of all people.”
As for the Chrisley’s take on Lindsie’s new moniker, a source told Us Weekly that the family wasn’t surprised to see Lindsie debut a new name online.
“There hasn’t been a real relationship in a long time, so the name change isn’t surprising,” the source told the outlet. “The timing just feels more calculated than heartfelt. A lot of pain has been caused over the years, and the space between them has brought a sense of peace the family has not felt in a long time.
“This only confirms that distance is what’s healthiest,” they continued. “If this helps her feel more in control or seen, that is her decision and the family has made peace with the way things are.”
In the comment section of a clip showing Lindsie and her Coffee Convos co-host Kail Lowry discussing her name change, fans expressed their surprise at Lindsie’s decision to take her boyfriend’s name so early on in their relationship.
“Changing your name to your bf’s last name 7 months into your relationship is diabolical. Stage 5!” one person wrote.
“Attention seeking at its finest,” another person wrote, to which someone replied, “She is her father’s daughter!”
Another person wrote that Lindsie “knew exactly what she was doing” by posting a photo of her wearing a white dress while walking with her man, as well as a coy caption about love and changing her last name on social media.
“As a listener from the very beginning, this whole explanation and ‘I didn’t think this would happen’ is a slap in the face to listeners,” another fan wrote. “You knew what you were doing, and you got the attention you wanted. Just own it. Idk what is going on lately but it all feels very misleading and fake and it’s a huge disappointment.”
