Former ‘Counting On’ Star Jana Duggar & Husband Stephen Wissmann Expecting Their First Child

“It’s FINALLY my turn to be fruitful and multiply, y’all!”

After years of watching and helping her mother, sisters and sisters-in-law welcome and care for their babies it’s finally Jana Duggar‘s turn to have her own little one!

The former Counting On star announced on Monday that she is pregnant with her first child. The announcement comes just days after Jana and her husband Stephen Wissmann celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary

Jana revealed her big news on Instagram.

“We are so excited, January 2026 is going to come with a little bundle of joy joining our family!” she wrote in the caption of several photos of her and Stephen cradling her baby bump. “We’re counting down the days and eagerly looking forward to this thrilling new chapter in our lives!”

“Excited to share God is sending us a new little bundle of joy in January 2026!” Stephen wrote on Instagram Stories.

As 19 Kids & Counting know, Jana was responsible for much of the care of many of her 18 siblings and continued to help her siblings as they began to have their own children. Jana, however, remained single as she watched her younger brothers and sisters get married (most in their late teens or earlier twenties).

Last year, however, Jana married Stephen and moved to his home state of Nebraska. Since then, she and Stephen have been documenting their first year of marriage on social media.

On almost all of her social media posts since her wedding, 35-year-old Jana has been peppered with questions as to when she and Stephen planned to start a family.

“I raised Jimmy B and Michelle’s litter since I was in kindergarten! Didn’t I at least deserve a year off before having my own kids?!”

In April, Jana responded to one such inquiry, writing, “We would love to have children of our own and are praying that God sends us some soon!”

Jana and Stephen received plenty of well wishes from their many, many siblings. (Stephen comes from a family of 13 children, one of whom–Hannah— is married to Jana’s brother Jeremiah Duggar.)

“So excited for y’all,” wrote Jill Duggar Dillard.

“Can’t wait to meet this baby,” commented Jessa Duggar Seewald (who recently gave birth to her sixth child).

Currently, Jana is the only one in the Duggar family who is pregnant (that the public knows of). Her and Stephen’s baby will be the 40th grandchild for her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar

Jana has not yet revealed if she is expecting a boy or a girl.

  1. Love this for her. She deserves her own happiness after raising 17 brothers and sisters and boat loads od nieces and nephews.

    1. Let’s just hope she lives through delivery to see him or her grow up…Jana is so stupid, I swear, 95% of this family is dumber than a box of rocks

    1. Barely married a year, pregnant 6 months in (she’s already 4 months btw), oh yeah she really waited a long time 🙄🙄🙄🙄. In true Duggar fashion she’s popping em out quick, only a select few waited a while before procreating

      1. She’s 35 and freshly married. Maybe she just didn’t want to be 40 and having her first kid. And in regards to “she waited a long time for this”. She waited 35 years and helped raise both her siblings AND her nieces and nephews. So YES she’s waited a long time to have her own child to cherish and love. There’s nothing wrong with anything she’s doing. Jesus. Your name should be Karen.

        1. Jana used to be my favorite but not anymore, yes she waited to get married…nothing wrong with that. But preggers mere months after the I do’s…like good grief!!!

Why doesn’t she just adopt at this point, pregnancy and labor are hard on a person after 30…I would think she’d know that…I mean, even Dr’s will tell you that getting pregnant after 30 is increasingly more dangerous

          1. HI! Welcome to today’s society where women wait to get married and have children instead of marrying at 13! Enjoy your brief stay

          2. While many women have healthy pregnancies after 30, there are some increased risks compared to pregnancies in younger women. These risks include higher chances of miscarriage, birth defects, and certain pregnancy complications like gestational diabetes and high blood pressure.

This is from a WebMD page was just updates 3 weeks ago…welcome to the 21st Century.

          3. The fertility window gets smaller with age. She’s 35, she doesn’t have all the time in the world to fill up a mini-van with kids.
She waited a long time to be married and being a fundie, kids were probably discussed early.

          4. You’re just trolling to be a troll.
Why should she adopt when she is physically able to carry her own child?
How many kids have you adopted?

          5. But why put your body and an unborn child in unnecessary danger?

Why not just adopt? You can have all the kids in the world that way, it’s A LOT less dangerous and you can still love a child that isn’t biologically yours.

            Quite a few fundies adopt

          6. I haven’t adopted Christie, but my sister adopted all 5 of hers because her Dr told her it would be less stress on her and the baby that way

          7. From the Cleveland Clinic:

How is an advanced maternal age pregnancy treated?
Healthcare providers typically don’t treat you differently just because of your age. But if genetic tests indicate your baby may have a congenital or chromosomal disorder or you have a condition like gestational diabetes, your provider will take precautions to keep you safe. They may refer you to a maternal-fetal medicine specialist. This is someone who specializes in higher-risk pregnancies. Other times, you may just need more frequent prenatal visits with your obstetrician to check on the fetus’s growth and well-being.

With advances in medical care and technology, most pregnancies in women over 35 are healthy and result in a healthy baby.

            Outlook / Prognosis
Can I lower my risk of pregnancy complications if I’m older than 35?
If you’re over 35 and pregnant (or think you will be), there may be some steps you can take now to lower your risk for pregnancy complications:

Make sure all of your preventive care is up to date.
            Manage any existing medical conditions.
            Take a prenatal vitamin.
Get at least 30 minutes of physical activity on most days.
Quit smoking and/or using tobacco products.
            Stop drinking alcohol.
Eat a healthy diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean meats and whole grains.
Stay within a healthy weight range during pregnancy.

People are actually told NOT to trust webMD, but I wouldn’t expect someone like you to know that.

          8. With a name like Mimi I would expect you to know ANYTHING.

Oh, and I didn’t read any of thos mindless drivel because it’s bs (simply because it came from you)

          9. Just, what world are we living in where we are shaming married women in their 30s for getting pregnant…?

          10. DM, if it kill them then fine BUT chances and risks heighten after 30…NO MATTER WHAT PREVENTIVE MATTERS A PERSON TAKES

          11. @theashley ~ can something PLEASE be done abt ‘karol’? she posts in such a trashy 🗑️ and belligerent manner, and seems to only conjure herself to cause dissension. a bonafide 💯 troll. 👹
others have asked for her dismissal as well. 🤷🏼‍♀️

  2. I am so excited for her. Am I doing the math, correctly? Is she only supposed to be 4 months pregnant? She’s showing fast for a 1st baby. No shade, I’m just wondering if they fibbed the due date. I would.
