Kate Gosselin continues to use TikTok as a way to engage with former Jon & Kate Plus 8 fans and to set to record straight on rumors that have circulated about her in recent years.
On Friday, the former TLC star– who shares eight adult children with ex-husband Jon Gosselin– took a moment during her TikTok Live to clear up some misconceptions about herself and her family, including the allegation that she “stole” her children’s college money.
“They all have their college money, all the money that was in my control, anyway,” Kate said, as reportedly by Fox News. “And they have more than enough for college.
“That’s not a thing,” she said of the claim that she stole funds that were intended to cover her kids’ education. “That never happened. I’ll just leave it at that.”
Kate, who was joined by son Aaden Gosselin for part of her Live, later claimed that “all” of her children had a college fund because of the family’s participation on reality TV.
“Yes, all of my kids’ college was paid for because of the show … yes, absolutely,” she insisted.
Kate also took to the comments to confirm that she and Jon were shown discussing their children’s education funds on an episode of ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8.’
“College money- I remember that episode when they met with finance company so they could set aside money from show for college,” a fan commented on Kate’s video, to which she replied, “Yep!”
Kate’s comments regarding her children’s money comes just days after Collin Gosselin– one of Kate and Jon’s sextuplets and the only Gosselin kid from whom Kate is estranged– accused his mom of taking “a very substantial amount” of money from he and his siblings, claiming that he even had court transcripts of Kate confessing to doing so.
“My mom unfortunately admits [in the court hearing] to taking money out of my UTMA account,” Collin said.
(An UTMA, or Uniform Transfers to Minors Act account, is a custodial account set up for a minor by an adult that can be used for any purpose once the minor reaches the age of maturity. The adult acts as a custodian of the account until the minor becomes an adult.)
“[She took] a very substantial amount,” Collin continued on TikTok Live. “Money was taken out of the account that was made for me and my siblings. I literally have transcripts. I’m not just saying that. I have court transcripts where she admits to it.”
(As you may know, Jon gained custody of Collin and daughter Hannah Gosselin in 2018, while the other six Gosselin kids remained in Kate’s custody until they were 18. Collin continues to have a good relationship with Jon and Hannah, though he is estranged from Kate and his seven other siblings.)
Collin– who spoke out last year about the physical abuse he allegedly suffered at Kate’s hand as a child– revealed last week that he is currently waiting tables “pretty much full-time” while attending college and is also a residential advisor (RA) at his school– the latter of which, provides him free room and board, as well as a meal plan.
“ … I work hard,” Collin told fans. “I’m paying for my tuition.”
As The Ashley previously reported, Jon publicly accused Kate in 2022 of stealing more than $100,000 from trust fund accounts belonging to some of the Gosselin kids, including Collin and Hannah. Court documents obtained by The Sun showed that Kate admitted in 2019 to “borrowing” money from trust accounts belonging to her kids in order to cover her living costs.
When asked about these trust accounts in court in 2019, Kate admitted to withdrawing $50,000 from her kids’ trust on two separate occasions, noting she would need to withdraw more going forward in order to make ends meet for herself and her children.
Kate purchased a $750,000 home in 2019, though she claimed in court that she had not worked that year and was paying her bills with “a lot of hope and a lot of prayer,” as well as the “borrowed” money from the Gosselin kids’ trusts. She also allegedly claimed in her court testimony that her children actually owed her money for private school tuition that was paid using her and Jon’s income over the years instead of the trust.
“So, I mean, I’m not looking to collect that, but I borrowed $100,000 from the kids’ trust,” she said. “And it owes me $387,000 technically.”
Earlier this month, Kate told fans on TikTok that she had to resume working her “regular” job as a pediatric nurse due to much of her TV earnings being used in her legal battles against Jon, as well as raising her children. She also insisted that her reality TV funds had been used to pay for “all” of her kids’ college educations.
“ … Providing for 8 kids, college funds, which I am proud to say covered all their college and more and LAWYERS,” she told a fan when asked where her TLC earnings went. “Sickening but I was [dragged] into court constantly and that costs A TON. Sad [because] my kids could have a lot more saved and I could have a retirement saved if it weren’t for lawyers … .”

That 750k house is on the lake. I live 45 minutes from her. She could have bought a home big enough for everyone for 300k or less here in NC. She chose to live on Lake Norman in a one-level waterfront property that has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a private pier and dock for a boat, a pool, a hot tub and an extended garage. She sold her Reading PA home for 1.085m that was paid off. 250k an episode in its peak, 40k for her when it was just her and kids (kids paid separately), plus the book deal, the show that tried to find her a man >.< and etc…she must have really lived above her means.
I don’t know why I just thought of this, but this woman reminds me SO MUCH of Ruby Franke, that Mormon YouTube mom who secretly abused her kids. She looks a lot like her and they have a lot of very similar mannerisms. I could see Kate coaching her kids how to behave for the camera just like Ruby did. Gotta keep up the perfect family facade at all costs. Creepy
One of the twins I don’t remember which one stated on a live it was true Kate did take money out of their accounts to pay bills.. She said it on a tik tok live. Also I don’t believe Jon, Colin and one of the twins are lying.. Second it’s very easy to verify since she did admit to it in court (per the court records)….
She didn’t steal from their trust funds, she borrowed illegally! Come on guys…get your facts straight!!

My guess would be she spent it on his ‘treatment’ facility. In her mind he was causing the problem so he should probably have to pay the money for the treatment.
How are people calling her a liar when all of the kids that lived with her have graduated or are currently in college. People are so blind with hate for her that they cant admit when they are wrong.
They are calling her a liar because she IS a liar. She literally had to confess in court to stealing from the children’s funds, taking their college money. She was SUED over this very real fact and there are court documents stating such.
The fact that some of them are in or have graduated college does not change any of this. Some of them have, or had, jobs, some of them got scholarships, none of them have had their college educations paid entirely by their earnings, much less Kate’s claims of *her* earnings paying their way through college.

She took money from Collin and Hannah to pay her living expenses even though they weren’t living with her?? That’s pretty horrible.
I believe the “borrowing” was also done because Jon was very behind on his child support and she expected to win that and fill the hole.
What she is saying is very vague. When the trusts owed her, she wouldn’t have had to borrow money from the trusts.
Jon said things like “why should I work?” when Kate had all 8 kids. Refused to work, he didn’t want to contribute. He didn’t steal from them legally but practically, he stole from his kids too.
Both of them put themselves first.
She didn’t “borrow”, she stole, she had to go to court over it. The trusts didn’t owe her anything, those aren’t her trusts, they are made, specifically, for the children and ONLY the children. She used them for herself, not the family, not the needs of the children and not at all what they were set up for. That is considered theft, and it’s why she got in trouble for it. She didn’t want to contribute either, which is why she stole from them. She only admitted to the $100,000, she stole, far, far more from them over the years though. She pilfered all sorts of money from those trusts, none of which she was entitled to, but most of which would be difficult to prove. The larger amounts were easier to prove.
He’s no saint, absolutely, and has plenty of his own faults. Still, she was and remains a far worse parent in every way. (which is really sad when you think about it).
She ranks right up there with Amber and Farrah as far as her parenting. Likely she considers herself a “damn good mom.”
