‘Jersey Shore’ Star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro Talks About How Much His Relationship with Ex Sammi Giancola Has Improved: “Bitterness There Is Finally Gone”

“No, RAHN, this doesn’t mean I wanna go get matching friendship t-shirts with you from the Shore Store…”

Jersey Shore star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro says things with co-star Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola are finally in a good place, more than a decade after the two ended their tumultuous relationship.

Prior to this week’s Jersey Shore Family Vacation season finale, Ronnie told Us Weekly how grateful he is that he and Sam “have grown so much,” insisting that any animosity the two once had is long gone.

“Whatever animosity that was there or whatever bitterness [was] there is finally gone,” he said. “We can coexist and we can work together.”

While Sammi and Ronnie are happy (enough) to work together now, that wasn’t always the case.

As The Ashley previously told you, Sammi opted not to join her Shoremates on ‘Jersey Shore Family Vacation’ when the show premiered in 2018, reportedly due to Ronnie’s participation in the spin-off. However, Sammi ultimately signed on for Season 7 of the series in 2023.

Though Ronnie acknowledged this week that he and Sammi may never be besties, he claims there’s a mutual respect between the two of them, which he believes is the most-important thing.

“That’s the biggest thing is just showing respect for each other and where we have both come in our lives,” he said. “And I think we both do a very good job of that.”

As ‘Jersey Shore’ fans know, since he and Sammi ended their relationship years ago, Ronnie became a father in 2018 to daughter Ariana, whom he welcomed with then-girlfriend Jenn Harley. Meanwhile Sammi welcomed a baby boy with fiancé Justin May in August after previously sharing her IVF journey on ‘Jersey Shore Family Vacation.’

Back in September, Sammi spoke about the moment she revealed to her castmates that she was trying to get pregnant, noting that Ronnie– whom she referred to as “a coworker”– was “not around” when she was going through the journey. Sammi stated at the time that while the situation between her and Ronnie was “not weird,” she insisted that part of her life was “completely over and long gone for a very long time now.”

Ronnie isn’t the only one to notice the “growth” he and Sammi have had; his castmates Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “JWoww” Farley are also proud of how far the exes have come since ending their toxic relationship.

#NeverForget

“That’s just called growth, to be able to sit in the room and not get punched in the face and we’re all laughing, and Ron is there,” Jenni told TooFab this week. “I’m like, ‘Wow, we really grew up, didn’t we?’”

“I love that we can laugh at things now,” Nicole added.

Jenni went on to admit that it’s nice that everyone in the ‘Jersey Shore’ family no longer has to “worry about the awkwardness” between Ron and Sam, while reiterating how much the two have “grown” and “moved on” from their past.

“It’s just nice, at least for us,” she said. “We are not walking on eggshells … they’re communicating, like, it’s just a vibe. It’s nice to have nobody, like, scared of saying something wrong.”

  1. Rahhnnn finally stahhpppped 😂

But for real, glad to see he’s doing better! I always wondered what happened to his ex, jen. I remember they were running each other over with cars or something at one point. Can only go up from there 😅

    1. She had a baby with another guy. I think she was also physical with him. I’m sure she verbally and emotionally abused him also. She’s just a really really bad, unhinged person.

Let me be clear. The way Ronnie treated Sammie was not ok. He gaslit her so bad. Just terrible. I think he has come around to realize he was being awful. Probably therapy I guess.

  2. I’m still mad at MTV for playing Sammi, telling her Ronnie wasn’t going to be part of the season to get her to join only for that to be a lie. But am happy for them that they were able to make improvements in their relationship and be friends, especially since their on a show and have mutual friends. If only Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush would do the same.

  3. Good I’m glad, deep down both of these two are likeable (when it comes to Ronnie his likeableness is deep, deep, DEEEEEEP down)…but its still good they can get past the bs from a decade ago.
