Former Real World and The Challenge star Davis Mallory shared a video to social media this week announcing that heās no longer living the āgay lifestyle,ā nearly a decade after he publicly came out as gay on 2006ās The Real World: Denver.
On Monday, the former MTV reality star posted a video to Instagram of him sharing his testimony to a crowd at a church event held in Hawaii. Davis began by telling the audience that he was raised in the church and that his parents met as āworship leaders.ā He then shared that his mom and dad divorced when he was 10 years old, leaving him without a father figure and seemingly suggesting that this played a role in him going on to ālive the gay lifestyle for about 20 years.ā
ā ⦠I was on a television show, āThe Real World,ā and I came out on the show as a gay Christian, but God really pulled me out of that lifestyle a year ago,ā Davis claimed. āHe started speaking to me in my dreams and showing me the spiritual warfare that I was going through.ā
As āReal Worldā fans may remember, Davis spoke on the show about growing up in the south and being raised in a conservative Christian family. He also revealed to viewers that when he came out as a gay when he was teenager, some members of his family were not supportive.

After appearing on āThe Real World,ā Davis went on to compete on three seasons of āThe Challengeāā The Inferno 3, The Duel 2 and Rivals. Over the years, heās continued to pursue a singing and songwriting career, even penning a tribute to friend and fellow āChallengeā star Diem Brown following her death in 2014.
Regarding his sexuality, Davis went on in his video this week to claim that every time he āreturned to sin,ā he would end up having nightmares and āreally strong visual dreams,ā which he interpreted as Godās way of showing him āwhat sin was doing in my life.ā He then described an interaction he had with an old man during a previous trip to Hawaii this year and how the old man allegedly prayed over him, leading Davis to start āspeaking in tongues that day.ā
āHe said with that prophecy would come acts of healing and words of wisdom, all these things,ā Davis recalled. āI really didnāt know what that meant, I was just looking for tongues. I started seeing it happen that same day.ā
Davis said that same day he had also witnessed a girl being water baptized, which inspired him to do the same, as he couldnāt remember when he had been water baptized as a child. The experience, he said, led him to write a song called āBaptized,ā which he proceeded to perform for the crowd in Hawaii.
Following his performance, Davis thanked the audience for allowing him to share his testimony, noting that God had āreally transformedā him.
āEvery single day, I get really vivid dreams from God pulling me out of what I was once in, the darkness,ā he said. āI definitely have a heart for the fatherless and a heart for that community, because I feel like they feel like thereās not a place for themselves in these doors and I wish we could open up and invite them in and let them know there is a place for them and really just show the good that God has in store for them.
āI know itās Pride this weekend and itās a hard place,ā Davis continued. āI feel like a lot of those people were raised without a good father in their lives ⦠.ā
(Based on his social media posts, Davis seems to have a close relationship with his dad and appears to have had one for a number of years now.)
While Davis has limited the comments on his testimony post, another post that he made a few days ago garnered comments from some fans asking him to clarify whether he still considers himself gay.
According to The Sun, Davis responded to one of the comments by asking the individual what it means to be gay, before being pressed to reveal if he is sexually attracted to men and if he still has sex with men.
“Do I find men beautiful? Yes of course. Do I find women beautiful? Yes of course,” Davis replied. “We are created in Godās image and in His likeness. The beauty of creation gives glory to the Creator. Iāll ask you this. What do you believe the design of sex is for? What do you believe is sexually immoral behavior?”
Davis was also asked in the comments if he had āparticipated in a conversion therapy of sorts.”
āNot really,ā Davis replied. āBut God started giving me vivid dreams and healed me from trauma and showed me the spiritual warfare I was under.ā

He still goes to brunch; heās gay.
I used to love Davis…no idea what happened to him. In case he is bisexual, okay but if this is just him trying to deny ever being gay and being a changed or whatever….honey, no.
(Which is really sad is also how I used to have a (male) best friend who never admitted to himself…even though we all know. I hope he is living well and not being in the closet anymore)
Speaking in tongues? Hmmm sounds like someone needs some meds. Davis honey, love is loveš itās not a sin as long as the other person is of age and itās consensual. Donāt hurt other gay people with this BS. If you think youāre not gay, great live your life. If you return to gay, great, live your life.
Listen ladies.. ya know what wisdom is? Womanly wisdom? Iāll tell you.. itās when you realize that there are a lot of āstraight menā MARRIED MEN, that are truly gay. More than you realize. These women do not know unless they catch them and some women die never knowing, this is a true thing, itās the real world and itās shocking and unfortunately people will hate on my comment, but Iām only here to warn you. Learn the signs cause it can ruin your life. Look into it I swear
Yep. I was thinking the same thing. You see it all the time.
It’s really sad people are forced back into the closet because it has become scary or very lonely to be gay or queer.
It’s really sad Davis can’t be himself. I’m not saying he can’t be bi, but being attracted to the same gender and leaning that way for 20 years doesn’t sound like something you just snap out of.
He’s been a failed country singer for ages. So this is his pivot in Trump’s Merica.
He should remind everyone how he called his black housemates the N word. Im sure that will win him lots of brownie points with the crowd he’s seeking.
This is gold. Iām SURE youāre not gay anymore. Thatās how it works! You just stop. Lord. Sir, we know youāre on the DL like half the congregation youāre speaking to. IN HAWAII. Genius move. Get someone else to pay for you to island hop while you say āoh btw Iām not gay anymore, hereās some communion wafers.ā
This is really sad.
Good for him. Hope he will be happy and healthy (whoever he is).
Sure Jan
Oh sweetie. Youāre a middle-aged man who has spent the past 20+ years as openly gay. Iām sorry that youāre so deeply unhappy and faced so much pressure that you now feel your best course of action is to pretend that you can un-gay yourself. Thatās actually really sad.
The delulu is strong
If fatherless families are the cause of homosexuality š¤ then he is admitting that once again men are in fact the problem. Hope he has fun with his army of hypocrites and his beard oops I mean wife.
Who said fatherless families are the root of homosexuality? Iām honestly very curious
do davis and todd chrisley have the same pastor? š¤
(asking for a friend…šø)
Hahaha!! Thatās hilarious. He fād men. Thatās gay. I donāt know one straight man who has ever been āformerly gay.ā The people supporting this ridiculous claim are delusional.

Oh honey, that’s not a thing…. I realized church made me fake, and I tried to hide my sexuality!
