Olivia Plath Claims Former Mother-in-law Kim Favors Her Children Based on Who Will “Feed into Her Ego”

“Congrats, Olivia…you continue to by my LEAST-FAVORITE former daughter-in-law.”

Former Welcome to Plathville star Olivia Plath is calling out her former mother-in-law Kim Plath for playing favorites among her own children, alleging that the mom of nine gravitates towards whichever kid will “feed into her ego.”

As The Ashley previously told you, Olivia– the ex-wife of Ethan Plath– has been speaking out as of late regarding how allegedly hateful and crooked the Plaths are behind-the-scenes of their TLC series, even slamming her ex-husband for exhibiting extremely disturbing behavior during their marriage.

He’s nothing if not consistent.

In her latest Plath diatribe, Olivia spoke more about the dynamics of her former in-laws, while calling out Kim’s allegedly problematic parenting and sharing her theory on why Kim plays favorites with her own children.

“It’s really interesting when you see who Kim favors,” Olivia revealed on an episode of the Pink Shade podcast. “It’s whatever child will feed into her ego.”

“…isn’t that how ALL good moms operate?!”

Olivia went on to claim that Lydia Plath used to be Kim’s favorite, largely due to the fact that Lydia would “tattle on the other kids” and feed into Kim’s belief that some of her children– particularly Lydia’s older siblings Micah and Moriah– were just insubordinate.

“ … [Lydia] would confirm Kim’s ego that Kim was a great parent [and that] it was just Micah and Moriah that were rebellious … ,” Olivia said. “ … Now that Lydia is still living [a religious] lifestyle, but Kim is different, all of a sudden, Ethan is Kim’s favorite.”

As ‘Welcome to Plathville’ viewers have seen this season, Kim has definitely pulled back from Lydia. On a recent episode of the TLC series, Kim told viewers she believed her daughter might be making “the biggest mistake” she’s ever made by marrying Zac Wyse, even calling Zac “a bunch of red flags” to whom her daughter was “getting ready to make a lifelong commitment.”

“If my mom doesn’t approve, I’m pretty sure that means we’re doing something right!”

Kim also accused her daughter’s now-husband of being controlling– a remark that Lydia went on to respond to social media, insisting that her mom’s claims were “the farthest thing from the truth.” Meanwhile, Lydia’s dad, Barry Plath, has appeared much more supportive of the young couple, even telling viewers during Lydia and Zac’s wedding rehearsal that he was “proud” of his daughter.

According to Olivia, Lydia and Ethan aren’t the only Plath children who have held the title of “Kim’s favorite child” over the years, as Moriah once occupied that position as well.

“Before Ethan, it was Moriah, when Moriah started going back to [being] best friends with her mom … because it was like, ‘See, it was Moriah’s problem all along, now me and Moriah are really close and Moriah can kind of help get Ethan back to the fold,’” she said.

Olivia claimed that once Moriah began putting some distance between herself and her family, Kim seemingly responded by promoting Ethan to the “favorite child” position.

“All of a sudden Ethan is her favorite, after being estranged for many years, because Ethan now feeds into her ego,” she said.

“Sooo…you down to get matching mother-son tattoos, or what?”

While she seems to have figured out how (and why) her former mother-in-law selects who her current favorite child is, Olivia said she doesn’t believe that Kim’s moves are as obvious to others.

“I think a lot of people miss that,” she said.

  1. It seems Kim wants her children to procreate with her and never marry. And Lydia won’t raise the girls anymore, and now Kim is pissed. That must be why Hossana got married and moved away.

  2. I think Olivia picked her husband for the exact same reason. She is divorced with no kids and should just keep her opinions about the family to herself.

  3. The whole damned family, minus Lydia & the 2 youngest girls, are problematic. Ethan and Isaac seem to have some raging anger issues that are downright scary. Moriah is a drama queen who likes to start shit and then sit back and play victim. Micah doesn’t seem to have much ambition and is content to live off his looks and whatever female will support him. Even Amber seems to be falling into that trap of stirring up shit. Kim is a huge hypocrite. She raised those kids so they’d be tied to her for life. The have no education, no job skills, no social skills, know nothing about the world around them and are so dependent on others it’s scary. They were taught not to date, kiss, hold hands or have any kind of intimacy because it’s sinful and will jettison them into the fires of hell, then she develops a crush on “Nigel from the gym” and finishes it up by having an affair with Isaac’s flight instructor and leaving Barry and the younger kids behind. Barry is a weirdo who seems to have his mind stuck on sex, which is actually frightening given the current custody arrangement with the “little girls”. This entire show is a cautionary tale of how cultish arranged religion can be and how damaging it is to kids that have no choice in the matter.

  4. I’ve always seen that with Kim. I think what is disturbing was that at Lydia’s wedding rehearsal she made a point of pulling Ethan to the side. She was very manipulative in the way she talked to him (and I think Micah or Issac but I’m not positive)

She basically says that there are red flags, Zac is controlling, Lydia is making a mistake and her family has the duty to warn her. But Kim wasn’t going to do it herself. The majority of the Plath’s suck.
