Another 90 Day Fiancé couple may be headed for divorce, as Shekinah Garner is encouraging husband Sarper Güven to file to end their marriage, claiming that the stand-up comedian has threatened to do so “many times” before.
Shekinah gave Sarper the go-ahead to dissolve their union following an online exchange that began earlier this week when Sarper posted an Instagram Story seemingly aimed at his estranged wife. In his Story, Sarper insisted that he “tried everything” to make things work, but claimed that the situation between himself and Shekinah has only gotten worse.
“ … I know I tried everything, I did my best…but things never change and get worse,” he wrote. “No need to push more…you are not the victim, you are the source of all problems … .”
Sarper went on to say that because he believes in “family confidentiality,” he wouldn’t “expose anything”– presumably about his relationship or about Shekinah herself. However, he continued to claim that he put his all into their marriage.
“ … believe me guys I did my best, I changed my whole personality to adjust, but impossible,” he wrote. “ … I wanna be happy, I wanna travel around and make you laugh! When I’m on stage I forget everything, all my problems. That is my therapy.”
Hours later, Shekinah responded to Sarper’s Instagram Story, insisting that she supported and sacrificed everything to help him succeed, but that finding happiness is “impossible” for Sarper, as he doesn’t love himself.
“You don’t take the steps to heal and so you hurt anyone who is close to you,” she wrote. “I’m glad you find momentary happiness in entertaining others, I think that’s really beautiful and you’re so good at it. But you’re deeply tortured and have really hurt me and I didn’t deserve it.”
Shekinah then accused Sarper of threatening to divorce her “many times,” before encouraging him to go ahead and “do it.”
“I’d rather be single than this unhappy,” she added.
Shekinah followed up her response with a series of shady memes seemingly aimed at Sarper, including one featuring the text, “May a man who is not sure of me never find me again.”
Prior to feuding with her estranged husband on social media, Shekinah took to her Instagram Story this week to update fans on their relationship, revealing that Sarper has “made it clear that he doesn’t want me at his shows anymore.”
“So, I won’t be at any of his shows,” she stated in the video, which was later shared by the 90 Day Fiance News and Memes blog. “I don’t know what to say really, because a lot has transpired in the past few days and the way that I’ve been treated is beyond despicable.”
Shekinah told fans she’s “in survival mode” currently, while Sarper continues to perform his scheduled stand-up gigs. Before ending her video, Shekinah claimed that this incident between her and Sarper was “a big turning point” in their relationship and that “nothing will ever be the same” between them.
“So, you’re not going to see us together anymore,” she added.
Fans of the “90 Day Fiancé” franchise may remember Shekinah and Sarper making their “90 Day Fiancé” debut on Season 6 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way and later appearing on Season 11 of “90 Day Fiancé.” Viewers may also remember Shekinah confronting her then-fiancé on Season 6 of ‘The Other Way’ after Sarper ripped out her hair extensions during an argument that occurred between the two while filming.
While Shekinah expressed to Sarper at the time that her “emotions and feelings” towards him change every time she’s sees his angry side, Sarper attempted to excuse his behavior by blaming it on stress, while pleading with Shekinah to give him another chance. Shekinah ultimately decided to forgive Sarper, though she insisted that he seek therapy to learn how to control his emotions.
After ‘The Other Way’ episode featuring the aftermath of the altercation aired in September 2024, Shekinah posted a photo of herself and Sarper to social media, defending her decision to stay with him.
“I choose understanding, forgiveness and resilience to cherish our love that outweighs any discord,” she wrote. “Our connection is measured by how we rise above confusion.”
