Amy Duggar Seemingly Shades Her Cousins Jinger & Joy Duggar for Taking Their Kids to Disneyland

“I’m not saying they’re bad parents for taking their kids to Disneyland…I mean, they pretty much are, but I didn’t SAY that!”

Amy Duggar seemed to be throwing a little shade her cousins’ way in a now-deleted post about the evils of Disneyland.

On Saturday, the ever-present Duggar cousin posted to Instagram Stories that she would not be taking her son Dillion to Disneyland anytime soon because she believes the company has an “agenda” that it’s pushing onto kid. Amy’s random declaration just happened to come hours after two of her cousins— Jinger Duggar Vuolo and Joy Duggar Forsyth— posted photos to social media of their recent family trip to the California theme park.

“Unpopular opinion: Dillion and I won’t be taking our son to any Disney resort,” Amy captioned a smug-looking selfie posted to Instagram Stories (that was captured by @Itsrowsdower ). “I believe the entire Disney company is pushing an agenda on our children. To each their own, but nobody can convince me otherwise.”

Was there ever a more smugger Duggar?

Amy went into more detail about why her son Daxton won’t be donning Mickey Mouse ears any time soon.

“We don’t support Disney as a whole, this was something we decided on long before the ‘files’ came out,” Amy insisted. “And before anyone twists that, don’t get me wrong, we’re selective… This isn’t about pretending we live under a rock, I’m just not asleep and I’m paying close attention to what’s being fed to my child and Dillon agrees! We are intentional. We question messaging. We question themes. We question what’s normalized and what’s subtly celebrated.

“Influence doesn’t have to be loud to be formative. Corporations shape culture, especially through children’s media, and we refuse to be passive about that in our home. This isn’t an attack on your family. It’s just a boundary in ours. If you don’t agree, we can still be cordial and still co-exist.”

“…but know I WILL be judging you on social media for profit whenever possible!”

Amy’s message (which was surely, positively, absolutely not timed to appear after her cousins shared about their magic day at Disneyland) received plenty of backlash, with some of her followers calling her out for shading Jinger and Joy for taking their kids to Disneyland. (The kids were even pictured wearing matching Mickey and Minnie denim jackets.)

“Coming back all these years later and watching our kids experience the magic of the park with their cousins for the first time was the sweetest full circle moment,” Jinger posted on Instagram right before Amy posted her anti-Disney message. “The wonder, the joy, the little squeals of excitement on the rides — they are memories we’ll truly never forget!”

Amy later insisted that she didn’t intentionally shade her cousins. However, she received so much backlash that she eventually deleted the posts.

Amy has not specifically spoken about her individual relationships with Joy and Jinger; however, while promoting her book Holy Disrupter last year, she did several interviews in which she revealed that she has not spoken to her Uncle Jim Bob, Aunt Michelle and the bulk majority of her Duggar cousins in years. (She does maintain a relationship with Joy and Jinger’s sister Jill, though.)

“We’re all broken up about not having Amy in our lives. Sure, that’s it…”

This is not the first time in recent months that Amy has been called out for being messy online. Last month, Amy took to social media to post a screenshot of an alleged text exchange between her and an unnamed family member who appeared to be reaching out to Amy regarding her estrangement from another relative. She then went on to break down the text conversation line-by-line, prompting many of her followers to accuse her of being desperate for attention.

“Frankly, this is nobody’s business except you and this person’s,” someone commented to Amy. “It’s YOUR family dynamics/relationships… but posting this is quite messy if you ask me… .”

… you need to learn to turn the other ear,” another person wrote, with another telling Amy that posts of this nature only create gossip and drama.

Jinger recently discuss her own relationship with the Disney brand.

During an episode of her podcast with her husband Jeremy Vuolo, Jinger talked about Disney movies, with Jeremy posing the question if Disney movies are “demonic.” During the episode, the former Counting On star explained that her parents didn’t allow her and her 18 siblings to watch Disney movies growing up, as the films often featured themes involving magic, which was a big no-no in a house running on Bill Gothard‘s logic.

Jinger said that she has banned her three kids from watching “The Princess and the Frog,” due to voodoo being a theme in it.

“I watched a section of it one time, and it goes into voodoo and I’m like, I’m not gonna let my kids watch that because I don’t believe that’s true,” Jinger said. “I don’t want them thinking that’s good.”

“But when it comes to, like Mickey, and there’s like this magic, there’s some of that that seems pretty harmless,” she added. “But also, there are times where I’m like, ‘OK, do I want our kids thinking that they have power to control things? Or is God the one that has all power? That’s also something that I’ve wrestled with, and we still wrestle with it…”

  1. No one cares, Amy. You as a parent have the right to control what media your kids take in. No one is forcing you to take your kids or make them watch the movies/shows. This didn’t need to be an announcement 😂

  2. Voodoo has its origins in beliefs brought to the US by Central and West African slaves and mixed with Catholicism. Let’s be for real, the dislike of voodoo is based entirely on ignorance and racism. If voodoo were practiced by white people it would be far more respected.
