Welcome to Plathville returns this month for a new season full of fair-haired family drama, rebuilding relationships and rehashing problems from the past.
In the new trailer for Season 8 of the TLC series, viewers catch up with newlyweds Lydia Plath and Zac Wyse as the pair prepare to reenter the always often-problematic Plath family dynamic.
“Everyone’s stepping into a whole new chapter in their lives,” Lydia says optimistically.

While Lydia and Zac’s wedding last season was bookended by Plath-sibling shenanigans– including a brother brawl between Isaac and Micah Plath that landed the latter in the hospital– Lydia is determined to stand firm in her boundaries this season as she demands respect from her family.
“I’ve been angry,” Lydia admits in the trailer. “I’ve been really upset at my family for what they did.”
Later on, Lydia vows to put her foot down if she finds out that anyone in the Plath family is “still gossiping about Zac.”

The trailer also shows Plath matriarch Kim Plath returning to the family farm in Georgia, ready to focus on her future and her newly rekindled relationship with boyfriend Ken Palmer. (As fans of ‘Welcome to Plathville’ may remember, Ken is the same man Kim was dating when she was busted in 2022 for DUI and property damage. She also relocated from Georgia to Florida in 2023 to live with Ken.)

Season 8 will also follow along as Kim attempts to repair her once-close relationship with Lydia.
“I smoked pot in college– also known as a doobie,” Kim tells a confused Lydia during one of their mother-daughter bonding attempts.

In another scene, the two have a more serious chat about their semi-estranged relationship.
“You and I used to be really close before the divorce,” Kim says, to which Lydia replies, “Whenever I would talk to you, it just felt like I was talking to a brick wall.”

Season 7 of ‘Welcome to Plathville’ ended with Kim and Barry Plath celebrating the official end of their 24-year marriage and the news that they had (finally) finalized their divorce. In the upcoming season, fans will see Barry fully embrace his new chapter as a single man while searching for a potential partner that has “the Sandra Bullock look.”
“I’m single and ready to mingle,” a back-on-the-dating-scene Barry declares.

While Kim and Barry’s respective love lives look promising in the trailer, the same cannot be said for their sons. In Season 8, Ethan Plath will make a “bold move” in the hopes of maintaining his relationship with girlfriend Teegan, while younger brother Isaac fears his relationship with girlfriend Kaylynn is moving too fast.
“Honestly, right now, I don’t know where me and Isaac stand,” Kaylynn tells viewers, before going on to tell Isaac that she, “doesn’t take bull crap” and “knows [her] self worth.”

Meanwhile, following a chaotic– yet extremely memorable– romance with ex-girlfriend Veronica Peters, Micah is refocusing in Season 8 on building a life on his own terms. As Micah partakes in some soul-searching, his sister Moriah Plath has already managed to find a sense of peace and prospective after relocating to Montana. In an effort to seemingly put that newfound peace to the test, Moriah resurfaces in Season 8 to spend some time with the rest of the Plath crew, before presumably remembering exactly why she moved away from them in the first place.
Season 8 of ‘Welcome to Plathville’ premieres March 31 on TLC. Watch the trailer below.
