Anna Duggar Shows Support to Joe Duggar in Email Sent to Jail; Reveals She Was Helping Joe’s Wife Kendra Adjust to Having a Husband in Jail

“Teaching Kendra to be a jailbird wife? Looks like it’s my time to shine, y’all!”

Joseph Duggar got a lot of support in jail from a family member who is all too familiar with the jail life.

His sister-in-law, Anna Duggar, sent money and an encouraging email to Joe three days after he was arrested and jailed on charges of child molestation. Anna— who is an old pro at being a loyal jailbird wife, thanks to her currently incarcerated hubby, Josh— offered Joe prayers, as well as the promise of “goodies” from the jail commissary, should he find himself there for a while. (As it turned out, Joe was shipped off to Florida and then bonded out from the jail there on Tuesday by Jim Bob.)

“Bro, you’ve got our prayers,” Anna wrote to her brother-in-law in an email dated March 21. “We love you. How ever we can help, please let us know. I think I put some money on your books…”

“I was eating that good jail ramen! Thanks, Anna!”

Anna then reminded him not to be chatty in jail phone calls or emails, as anything he says can be used against him in court. She then talks about Josh’s stay at the jail. (Those who followed Joshy’s legal journey a few years back will remember that Anna’s felon-in-shining-armor spent a good amount of time in Washington County Jail before his trial. He is now incarcerated in a Texas prison.)

“Joshua’s experience there at Washington County was fairly safe,” Anna writes. “If there are any concerns for your health or safety please let me know.”

Anna also revealed that she has been offering her support to Kendra (who, as her jail phone calls with Joe reveal, is having a very tough time being apart from Joe and their four kids.)

“I was amazed at how clearly [Kendra] thought, how focused and articulate she was in the middle of such heavy situations. She loves you deeply,” Anna wrote. “She was strong on the phone call, except for when she talked about it being a month before she can see the kids.”

(As The Ashley previously reported, Kendra and Joe were both charged in Arkansas with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and false imprisonment. Joe received the same charges as Kendra but was already in jail at the time of Kendra’s arrest. The Arkansas charges are reportedly not related to Joe’s child molestation charges in Florida. As a condition of her release from jail, Kendra is not allowed around the victims of her alleged crimes, whom Kendra revealed in a jail phone call are their four kids. She and Joe are barred from contacting the kids in any way until their court date in Arkansas on April 29.)

“My heart breaks for all of you. I know that she will win in the end…it just might take time,” Anna wrote. “Kendra is an amazing woman— the grace of God is flowing from her life!”

During a jail phone call from Joseph to wife Kendra, Joe acknowledged that Anna had emailed him and was offering to help.

“She sent me money,” Joseph says to Kendra during one call. “I guess she sent me some money. I think it costs $6 for a 20-minute phone call is what I figured out.”

The face Joe made when he finds out the jail doesn’t give discounts for being a Duggar…probably.

It’s no surprise that Anna has been a support system for Kendra and Joe, as she has always been close to the couple, even serving as a bridesmaid in their wedding.

While Anna’s husband may be locked away in prison until December 2032, she has been making a good living for her and their seven kids by breeding golden retriever dogs

“I’m used to being around dogs— I’m married to Josh— so I may as well make money at it!”

Joe is currently out on bail and is not due back in a Florida courtroom until April 20.

On Thursday, Jana Duggar released her first statement regarding Joe’s arrest. Although several of her siblings— including Jill Duggar DillardJinger Duggar Vuolo and Jason Duggarhave put out statements since Joe was arrested, Jana had remained completely silent until Thursday.

“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the situation involving my brother, Joseph,” Jana wrote on Instagram Stories, adding that— like her siblings she found out when the rest of us did. “This news came as a shock to us, as we had no prior knowledge before it became public. Our hearts are with the child who has been harmed— this is a grievous and unacceptable wrong.

“We continue to pray for the victim and for justice to be carried out.”

Interestingly, unlike the statements posted by some of her siblings and her parents, Jana’s statement did not express any sympathy for Kendra.

  1. The way Anna supports pedophiles and rapists is.a huge red flag. Maybe now people will stop pretending she knew nothing of her own rapist husband’s crimes. Honestly, she shouldn’t have children in her care either. She has always sent up some serious questions, but this is a huge red flag.
