Mama June Shannon took to social media over the weekend to throttle herself into her daughter Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon’s feud with ex-husband Josh Efird, while telling fans that a “huge secret” about Josh is set to drop later this season on Mama June: From Not to Hot, which June claims will make people “see that Josh isn’t Mr. Perfect.”
As viewers of the show know, Pumpkin and Josh quietly split in August 2024 after six years of marriage and four children together. While their divorce wasn’t finalized until September of that year, both quickly moved on to new relationships, with Pumpkin dating Darrin Kitchens– who happens to be Josh’s cousin– and Josh dating a woman named Keely, who at the time, was pregnant with Darrin’s child (allegedly). After Josh and Keely split, Josh began dating Breanna Godwin, who went on to give birth to Josh’s fifth child in May.
On Sunday, June posted a clip from a recent episode of her family’s show to Facebook that showed Pumpkin and Josh having a heated (and emotional, on Josh’s part) conversation about their current dynamic, as well as a disagreement regarding which of them was the first to move on from their marriage.
In the caption of her post, June (using her signature “June Speak”) provided fans with additional context to the former couple’s split, which she claimed Pumpkin never planned to discuss on-camera, despite the fact that Pumpkin allegedly spent “many years” protecting Josh and was “over with the relationship” nearly five years before she and Josh called it quits.
June went on to tell fans that whether or not Pumpkin had met Darrin at the time, Pumpkin and Josh’s relationship was already over.
June also claimed that while Pumpkin and Josh “both did f**ked up things together and separately,” fans will soon begin seeing on the show just how imperfect Josh is. June then teased a “huge secret” involving Josh and alleged instances of physical and emotional violence, which she said will be revealed later this season.
“There’s a huge secret that has been closed behind the scenes that we haven’t discussed, but cameras were there and [caught] it when we were in Florida back in the end of October and y’all are gonna see all that,” she wrote.
“Trust me. I’ve been silenced tons in a relationship when it comes to not just physical, but emotional domestic violence situations it’s not just the physical part. The emotional part is so much more and I think that [Pumpkin] coming forward and telling her side finally even if Josh doesn’t like it f**k that everybody deserves a voice … .”
June told fans that they can continue blaming Pumpkin for her and Josh’s divorce, but promised that their opinion will change later this season when they “see that Josh isn’t Mr. Perfect.”
In addition to calling out Josh for not taking accountability for the things he did years ago, June went on to defend Pumpkin for “bashing Josh,” insisting that Pumpkin is just “tired of hiding s**t.”
“Again, they both done wrong,” June wrote of her daughter and former son-in-law. “Some people will continue to blame Pumpkin and that’s fine but when you see what Josh done is way worse and I’m not even talking about him having a baby … .”
June promised fans she’d discuss the situation more after it airs this season, claiming that she has “a lot to say” on the matter and has “been holding it back for a long time.”
As The Ashley previously told you, Pumpkin spoke out last month about the criticism she’s received from some of the show’s fans in the wake of her divorce from Josh. While the mom of four noted that a lot of viewers “took Josh’s side” in Season 7, Pumpkin said she was eager to see if opinions would change as things unfolded in Season 8.
“ … because you’ll find out a lot of things,” Pumpkin said of the new season, before going on to send a message to her critics. “When y’all watch the end of this season, please, please, please don’t come back saying, ‘Team Pumpkin.’ Please, I don’t want you on my team. I don’t need that type of negativity.”

June has a lot a stake, so she has to keep on Pumpkin’s good side. June’s been pimping out Pumpkin in her new career as an “Exotic Dancer”. I’m sure if she’s acting as Pumpkin’s “manager”, she hopes to get a cut of the glitter dollars

So she said that Alana has been “on her own” since she was 16? Does she think that’s a flex? At 16 you are NOT grown and shouldn’t be living on your own. Rumor has it that she actually moved in with Dralin which is even worse.
I think Josh and Pumpkin were cheating on each other for years but they’ve made it into a storyline for the show. Drama puts money in all of their pockets. I’m not a fan of Josh & I think he gets a good edit on the show. (and is the lesser of two evils) June allegedly knew he was violent and was perfectly fine sending Alana to live with them at 13 years old. June needs to STFU and take accountability for her own shit.
