The legal hits just keep coming for Jenelle Evans in her battle for custody of her son Jace!
The Ashley can exclusively reveal that Jace’s father Andrew Lewis has filed for partial custody of the 16-year-old. On Friday, Andrew officially filed a Cause of Action in the custody court case that he and Jenelle’s mom Barbara have against Jenelle. (As The Ashley previously reported, Barbara filed for full custody of Jace last month in an attempt to regain custody of him from Jenelle.)
Andrew is asking the judge to give him secondary custody of Jace and visitation, while giving Barbara primary custody of the boy. He is asking that the judge only give Jenelle supervised visitation with Jace, if the court decides it’s appropriate.
Last week, Barbara and/or Andrew filed a motion asking that Jenelle be held in contempt of court for her actions regarding Jace particularly over the last few months. As The Ashley told you, Jenelle had kept Jace in a mental health facility for about a month in February, despite Andrew and Barbara wanting Jace to be released into their care. Late last month, Jenelle pulled Jace out of the facility and took him to an unknown location. According to Andrew, he and Barb have not been permitted to see or talk to Jace since.
After Andrew told The Ashley in late March that he had already incurred massive medical debt due to Jace being held at the mental health facility for several weeks (at the behest of Jenelle), Jenelle gave an interview to TMZ bragging that she is paying for Jace’s medical expenses.
“At this time, my son is FULLY covered by health insurance, and I AM currently handling and paying for all of his medical care,” Jenelle told TMZ.
The Ashley contacted Andrew for comment on his latest legal move, and he confirmed that he is trying to get partial custody of his son. He also revealed that new insurance claims continue to roll in every day, and he is now starting to get claims from the place that Jenelle put Jace in last month.
“She claimed she had a ‘sponsor’ for Jace to go there and pay for it,” Andrew told The Ashley in a comment. “She lied. She is not paying for Jace’s medical care. There is no sponsor, because [the new place] is now billing my insurance. The medical bills are now well over $102,000, and she is not paying it, even though that’s what she claimed.
“Our lawyers are taking care of everything,” Andrew added.
Jenelle, Barbara and Andrew are all scheduled to meet up in court on May 26, where Andrew’s bid for partial custody (as well as Barb’s for primary custody) will be addressed. The petition for Jenelle to be held in contempt of court will also likely be addressed during that hearing. It would require Jenelle to explain to the judge how her actions have not violated the custody court order that she and Barbara agreed to in 2023.

Jenelle doesn’t even deserve supervised visits, honestly.
Hopefully atp a decent judge just says look you degenerate, you’ve abused the court system for years and played victim while playing in the public’s faces about what you’re actually doing. Taking Jace out of the only care that he felt was solid and banking them was a disgrace of a decision and NOT in his vest interest.
They should make her pay the medical and court fees and give her supervised visitation if Jace wants it. I’d throw the entire woman away.

I hope he gets it. That’s the best case scenario for Jace at this point. This poor kid literally is being deprived of the only mother figure he ever had in his life and his father who apparently has been more involved than Jenelle has said. Jenelle clearly doesn’t want to raise Jace or do what’s best for him. She isn’t acting out of a maternal love. She uses Jace like a pawn in the battle against Barb. It’s sick. Shame on the courts for allowing this shit to perpetuate for years.
You know what this actually reminds me of? when Kate Gosselin just decided she didn’t want to deal with Colin so she ships him off and locks him in a facility alone knowing his father wanted custody of him. That’s who Jenelle is Kate Gosselin 2.0
