Mother of ‘Unexpected’ Star Hunter Johnson Fights Back After His Dad Is Awarded Emergency Custody; Defends Falen Vaughn’s Behavior: “Not Inappropriate!”

“It’s FINE! Everything is FINE!”

Hunter Johnson‘s dad Casey was awarded emergency temporary custody of Hunter last month and Hunter’s mom Stacie Riddle is not happy about it.

On Monday, the Unexpected grandma filed her response to Casey’s petition for emergency custody— which included claims that Hunter would be in “immediate risk of irreparable harm” if he stayed with Stacie, due to her allegedly not supervising Hunter and allowing Falen Vaughn to have “inappropriate” interest and involvement in the 14-year-old’s life.

In her petition, Stacie also heavily defended Falen (who is the mother of Hunter’s baby mama Bella). Stacie claimed that Falen and Hunter’s relationship is “not inappropriate.” She also wrote off a message sent by Falen’s father-in-law Wendall Vaughn to Casey to use in court last month in which Wendall stated that Falen allegedly told him that she wanted Hunter and Bella to have a baby. According to Stacie, Wendall has a brain injury and shouldn’t be taken seriously.

Here, The Ashley breaks down how Stacie responded to Casey’s claims in his petition for emergency custody.

Regarding Falen having an “inappropriate” relationship with Hunter:

“He’s just my boo…I mean my DAUGHTER’s boo.”

Casey filed motions in court to ask that Falen and Kris Vaughn be prohibited from contacting or interacting with Hunter, due to the couple’s “ongoing instability, inappropriate conduct and detrimental influence.” Stacie only admitted that Casey filed those motions to keep the Vaughns away from Hunter, but denied that what Casey said about them is true.

Stacie also denied Casey’s claims that Hunter’s communications with Falen are “concerning” and “highly inappropriate” considering Hunter’s age, the fact that there is ongoing litigation between the families, and the level of involvement Falen has in Hunter’s life.

“The relationship between [Hunter] and [Falen], the grandmother of his child, has not been inappropriate,” Stacie claims.

She also denied Casey’s claims that many of Falen’s texts to Hunter show “manipulation to a child by an adult.”

On the claims made by Kris’ father Wendall Vaughn:

As The Ashley reported, Casey submitted to the court a message he received from Kris’ dad Wendall last month. In the message he sent to Casey, Wendell stated that he was told by Falen on multiple occasions prior to Bella getting pregnant that “Bella and Hunter were pretty kids and needed to start having sex and get pregnant” so that she would stay home with the baby…

Wendell claimed that Falen cut him out of his grandkids’ life after he told her that her plan was terrible.

The message Wendall sent to Casey that was submitted to the court…

In her filing, Stacie wrote off what Wendall said as “inadmissible hearsay.” She also claimed that Wendall isn’t a reliable source, due to him having brain damage!

“Wendall Vaughn has suffered a traumatic brain injury due to a car accident many years ago, and his testimony cannot be deemed reliable,” Stacie wrote.

“His head done got all damaged up! Y’all can’t believe nothing he says!”

Stacie also denied that Falen purchased Hunter an expensive baseball item, and that she keeps trying to find reasons to get Hunter to come over to her house or contact him. She also denied that the texts Hunter received from Falen showed that she “encouraged division and alienation between [Hunter] and [his dad].”

On Hunter missing so much school:

Stacie insisted that she made Hunter attend school regularly. (Casey claimed that Hunter has missed 35 full or partial school days this year because of Stacie, and 47.5 last school year.)

“The pro sports scouts will be callin’ any minute now, so who needs school anyway!”

In her response, Stacie claimed that Hunter missed school because he was sick, and that he had a doctor’s note, and that all of the absences weren’t even during her time with Hunter. Stacie also declared that she has never kept Hunter from school “without good cause” and denied Casey’s claims that Hunter’s grades have declined. (As ‘Unexpected’ fans saw, Hunter was in danger of failing the eighth grade, but managed to pass.)

On setting rules & restrictions for Hunter:

Stacie denied that she has “undermined” Casey’s attempts to set “rules, structure, discipline and educational expectations” for their son, as Casey has claimed. She stated that Casey’s claim that she allows Hunter to have “unrestricted freedom” and no supervision is also not true.

Stacie also denied that she helped Hunter make the TikTok video he posted last month in which he stated he didn’t want to be at his father’s house and defended Falen.

“Like, what do they expect me to do? WATCH what my teenager posts online?!”

On harassing Hunter’s dad:

Casey stated that Stacie called the police on him multiple times in a week recently to “harass, intimidate and escalate conflict.” He says one of the times, Stacie asked the police to do a “welfare check” on Hunter because Casey took away his Xbox. Stacie denied this.

Although she admitted to calling in for a welfare check, she insisted it wasn’t for a dispute about the Xbox.

“But…can I get that Xbox back or no…?

Regarding the incident on April 20 that resulted in Falen’s arrest:

In his petition for emergency custody, Casey claimed that Stacie was “acting aggressively, yelling, cursing and causing a disturbance” outside his home on April 20 over Hunter having a phone given to him by the Vaughns. Stacie denied this. (Footage from the police officer’s body warn cameras does show the later part of the incident. You can watch that here.)

Stacie DID give an Oscar-worthy performance that night though…

Stacie claims she picked Hunter up with the intention of dropping him off at Casey’s, and that she had no plan to take over Casey’s parenting time.

Regarding Bella and additional pregnancies:

Stacie denied Casey’s claims that Bella took a pregnancy test live on TikTok in April. (Casey claimed the incident demonstrated the lack of supervision, boundaries and parental oversight happening during Stacie’s parenting time with Hunter.)

Stacie also denies that she has permitted and normalized “conduct wholly inappropriate for a 14-year-old child” including “unsupervised sexual activity,” and being on adult-themed social media disputes and more.

Um…

She also denies that she treats Hunter like an adult instead of teen.

Stacie and Casey are set to meet up in court for their next hearing on Thursday. Stacie’s attorney attempted to get that postponed but on Tuesday, her request was denied so it appears that the exes will still be going head-to-head in court that day.

Stay tuned…

  1. … I mean she can run her mouth all she wants…
Just from what we’ve seen so far… the actual evidence… uh, girl… what planet are you living on?

I certainly hope someone is forensically getting all those deleted communications. All three of these kids are not in an appropriate situation.

  2. She’s delusional. There’s a reason her 12 year old son knocked up his 14 year old girlfriend. Horrendous parenting, with absolutely zero boundaries and rules.

  3. Ok so both my husband and dad have had TBIs. Mild for my husband, severe for my dad. They both are able to communicate totally normally and they don’t get confused and make up crazy stories… my dad is somewhat forgetful but I’ve never heard of someone with a TBI just creating wild baseless accusations…

Also it is WILD to me that these women are somehow close to my age but easily look in their upper 40s… skincare, people!

  4. Honey, you want to talk brain damage? What did all those years of addiction where you didn’t even have any custody of your kid do to you? How reliable is YOUR narrative. Not very.

    1. I know what I watched and her Falen and Kris all condoned the behavior of these children. They were laughing at all the sex talk and it made me cringe. All three of them need to be eliminated from Hunter’s life at this point. The fact that his father knows the adults behavior is wrong erases whatever he has done in the past in my book. I don’t think it’s as bad as they all claim, I think he didn’t want to participate in their garbage behavior and go along with all this craziness so they made him out to be a bad guy . Team Casey all the way.
