The recent engagement of Unexpected couple Bella Vaughn and Hunter Johnson apparently didn’t go over well with the judge presiding over Hunter’s parents’ custody case– and now we have the shocking details of what reportedly went down behind the scenes when the 14-year-old Hunter proposed to Bella!
As fans (or critics) of the Season 7 couple know, Bella announced earlier this month that she and Hunter– who conceived their now one-year-old son Wes when Bella was 14 and Hunter was 12– are officially engaged to be married.
“From promise ring to engagement ring, I’ll forever love you Hunter Wesley and I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together,” Bella posted to TikTok, along with a photo showing off her engagement ring.
(The post– as well as all photos and mentions of Hunter– has since mysteriously vanished from Bella’s TikTok.)
The teen couple announced their engagement news amid Hunter’s dad, Casey Johnson, fighting Hunter’s mom, Stacie Riddle, for full custody of Hunter (which he was awarded last week) and Casey fighting Bella’s mom, Falen, for custody of Wes.
According to a new TikTok posted by @MichelleAnnXO, (who has sources connected to the families), while Hunter allegedly popped the question to Bella during the time that he was in his father’s care, the teenage proposal went down secretly during a family photoshoot that had already been scheduled by the Vaughns.
“So Hunter’s dad, with his good faith in him trying to prove that he’s not just trying to cut Hunter off from being a dad [and] that he’s not this horrible deadbeat like everyone has been pegging him out to be, allowed [Hunter] to do the family pictures,” @MichelleAnnXO claimed. “He allowed the family pictures because it had to do with Hunter’s son, Wes … family pictures turned into an engagement.”
Not only did Hunter allegedly arrive the to photoshoot without an engagement ring for his baby mama– suggesting that Bella’s bling was undoubtedly may have been bought (and brought) by Bella’s mom– but Bella reportedly showed up to take family pictures rocking a prom dress.
When the pre-meditated proposal– which Casey was none-too-pleased about– was brought up to the judge during Casey and Stacie’s recent custody hearing, the judge was reportedly (and rightfully) “appalled.”
As The Ashley previously told you, while the judge reportedly awarded Casey full custody of Hunter last week, documents revealing the outcome of the May 7 emergency custody hearing are not publicly available.
“ … pretty much the case is being sealed, so they’re gonna shut down the case for the public, they’re gonna seal it,” @MichelleAnnXO reported last week, noting that the case was being sealed because it had become “very high profile.”
In addition to the latest details regarding Hunter and Bella’s engagement, fans noticed this week that Bella appears to have removed all of the videos featuring Hunter from her TikTok page, including her profile pic. Bella also appears to have updated her TikTok bio, as it no longer mentions Hunter’s name/social media handle.
She has also been posting about being “lonely,” causing some fans to ask in her recent posts’ comment section if she and Hunter have broken up.

So I’m confused. Did Hunter actually want to propose and they bought the ring for him? Or they did it all and he had no idea.? What 14 year old wants to get married?!?
The Shrek “happily ever after” version of being married. They don’t know about marriage and real life.
I am completely unsurprised, yet still slightly nauseated, at how low that woman will sink. So gross.
“What?! Falen was the one who set the whole engagement up? I’m shocked! Shocked!” Said no one EVER!
I’m sure Falen thought that the kids being engaged would actually help Stacie keep Hunter since the kids look so committed to each other. Like it would be horrible to break up an engaged couple. She’s too dumb to realize how wildly inappropriate and disturbing it is.
This is the least shocking piece of news to come out about this mess. Obviously it was orchestrated by Falen. She’s got an unhealthy obsession with this boy. Her other daughter got knocked up around the same time and I don’t see her buying that baby daddy engagement rings so that he’s tied to the family forever. It’s so wildly inappropriate, I’m surprised the judge hasn’t subpoenaed her phone / computer.
