Lydia Plath Opens Up on ‘Welcome to Plathville’ About Intimacy with Husband Zac Wyse & Their Decision to Wait Until Marriage to Have Sex

“What happens in the prayer closet, stays in the prayer closet!”

In a preview from this week’s episode of Welcome to Plathville, Lydia Plath opens up about the intimacy in her marriage to husband Zac Wyse following the couple’s decision to abstain from sex and save their first kiss until they became husband and wife.

In a preview from Tuesday’s episode of the TLC series, one of Lydia’s friends asks her “what [it] was like” to hold off on getting physical with her hubby until they said “I do.” In response to her prying pal, Lydia laughs nervously before revealing what Zac said to her in the weeks before they walked down the aisle in order to create “a safe place” for his wife-to-be.

“Zac had told me leading up the wedding, he was like, ‘You know, when it comes to sex, when it comes to intimacy, like, I want you to let me know when you’re ready,’” Lydia recalled. “He was like, ‘If you wanna wait a week, ya know, enjoy a week of kissing and making out and warming up to each other before we do anything else.’ He’s like, ‘I’m here to serve you.’”

Despite her husband’s offer, Lydia confirms to her friend that she and Zac “didn’t wait a week” to consummate their marriage. While Lydia opts not to disclose what specifically went down on her wedding night, she assures her friend that the night was one to remember.

“Get it, girl!”

“ … it was so beautiful, it was so perfect and so God-centered, and just so honoring,” she says.

Later in the clip, Lydia– while randomly/all too coincidentally noshing on a banana– is asked by a producer to explain what intimacy in a marriage means to her and why it’s important. Instead of answering the question(s), Lydia tells producers that getting hitched revealed a side of her that she didn’t know existed, which only Zac gets to see.

Somewhere in Georgia, Kim Plath is seething over the fact that she didn’t think of pulling this stunt first…

“There’s definitely a side of me that no one has ever seen or I never imagined was there, but it’s for Zac only and it’s awesome,” she says, before picking up her banana again and taking a bite on-camera.

“I can’t believe you just did that, I’m sorry,” a female producer jokes with Lydia. “You did that deliberately, Lydia … Yes, you did. I know, I see that side of you.”

“You don’t see nothin’,” Lydia replies.

As The Ashley previously told you, Lydia took to social media last summer to defend her and Zac’s decision to save their first kiss (and everything else) until their wedding day, insisting that the two didn’t make the decision because they weren’t attracted to one another.

“Yes! We saved our FIRST KISS for our wedding day!” Lydia wrote on Instagram in August. “It’s really saddening to see how that is taken such the wrong way in this day and age. Instead of people seeing how honoring and selfless that was of my husband, they assume we just weren’t attracted to each other. QUITE THE OPPOSITE!”

While Lydia and Zac had both kissed past romantic partners, Zac explained on an episode of The Jinger and Jeremy Podcast last year that it was important to move a certain way in his relationship with Lydia, as he wanted it to have “purpose.”

Meanwhile, Lydia’s mom, Kim Plath, told viewers on a recent episode of ‘Welcome to Plathville’ that she and ex-husband Barry Plath are somewhat to blame for the “bad relationships” some of their adult children have found themselves in, as their children were raised to wait until marriage to have sex.

“Unless, of course, it will prevent my kids from marrying people I don’t like.”

“Looking back, the thing that I would change with how we raise the kids is– I have a hard time promoting sex before marriage, I do feel like there’s a benefit to waiting– but now, I think it’s better to have sex before marriage and really get to know who you’re marrying than to just rush in and get married so that you can have sex,” she said, presumably referring to a couple of her children, including Lydia, who tied the knot with Zac after a short two-month engagement.
