Six months after a video of her slurring her words sparked concern among fans, 90 Day Fiance star Jenny Slatten has revealed that she has been diagnosed with ALS.
On Tuesday, Jenny and her husband Sumit Singh opened up to People magazine— as well as on social media— about Jenny’s devastating diagnosis.
“Recently I was diagnosed with ALS,” she wrote on Instagram Stories. “While this news has been life changing, I want everyone to know that I’m doing okay. I’m surrounded by an incredible support system and I’m ready to face this fight with strength and hope.”
Jenny went on to thank her fans for their support and to ask that fans continue to treat her the same as they always have.
“Please don’t treat me any differently,” she wrote. “I’m still the exact same person I’ve always been. Thank for you standing by my side. It means more than I can put into words.”

The couple— who are set to star on 90 Day: The Last Resort next month— told the magazine that Jenny was diagnosed in December, but that she had already been experiencing symptoms for about a year by the time she was diagnosed. According to Sumit, the first sign that anything was wrong with Jenny came in December 2024 when she had trouble swallowing pills and drinking water, and began experiencing migraines. Although the couple believed Jenny had an infection that seemed to improve with medication, her speech soon began to be affected.
“That’s when we knew something was wrong,” Jenny told the magazine, adding that she began to avoid having conversations, due to her slowed speech.
The couple also addressed the viral video filmed in December 2025 around the time of the “90 Day Fiance” holiday party in New York City. As The Ashley reported at the time, Jenny’s speech in the video (as well as videos taken at the party) was noticeably slow and slurred. The comment section of the video was full of responses from people who were concerned for Jenny, prompting Jenny’s daughter Christina Cuevas to chime in and discuss what’s happening with her mom. Christina revealed that they were not sure what was wrong with Jenny, but that she and Sumit were “on it.”
Sumit stated that one of the people in the comments section suggested that Jenny’s symptoms could be from ALS, causing him to look into the disease.
“And then I find out that these symptoms she was having — this is what it looks like,” he said, adding that Jenny’s father had died from ALS.
After visiting several neurologists in India— where the couple currently lives— Jenny was finally diagnosed with ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Also known as “Lou Gehrig’s disease,” ALS is a “fatal and progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord,” according to the Mayo Clinic. It causes muscle weakness and, eventually, loss of mobility and speech. (Actor Eric Dane passed away from the disease in February.)
Currently, there is no cure for ALS.
“There was a rumor that I had a stroke, but it turned out to be ALS,” Jenny wrote on Instagram on Tuesday. “At first, we tried to keep it private because it’s been very emotional and overwhelming for us. We were hoping to find some kind of solution before speaking publicly. But after trying for some time, we feel like it’s time to reach out. Thank you so much for all the love and support. Right now, we are open to any kind of help — treatments, clinical trials, lifestyle changes, or anything that could help treat this disease or slow down its progression.”
Sumit told People that Jenny’s ALS “is slow” and that she is looking into genetic testing to see if she has the ALS gene, which would qualify her to take a medication that may slow the progression of her ALS.
“I don’t want to be treated any different,” Jenny told the magazine. “Let’s just live our life as we have been while we can.”
Although Sumit and Jenny’s marriage seems to be on the rocks in the trailer for the upcoming season of “90 Day: The Last Resort,” Jenny insists they’re currently more in love than ever before.
“Honestly, I never felt this much love, or I can love anyone this much,” Sumit says. “I used to … live for myself. But from [the] last so many years, I feel like doing [things] for someone who you love gives you happiness, I think that’s what love is. And that’s why we do things for each other, and that’s what makes each other happy. And we’re happy that we’re together.”
Jenny and Sumit will appear on “90 Day: The Last Resort” Season 3, which premieres June 1 on TLC. Click here to watch the trailer.

I hate to hear this. ALS is devastating and honestly terrifying. I hope people on social media think twice about making fun of someone’s speech, imitating her slurring her words on tik tok and calling her a drunk. You never know what private battles someone is going through.
