“90 Day Fiance” stars Jenny Slatten and Sumit Singh took to Instagram on Sunday to issue a sad update on Jenny’s speech and mobility, both of which have drastically declined to her progressing ALS. They also informed fans on where Sumit’s attempt to get a visa stands and more.
Jenny and Sumit also revealed that Jenny is staying in India—despite the possibility of getting better treatment in the United States— due to the fact that she doesn’t want to leave Sumit, who has been unable to get a visa to travel to America. The couple asked their fans to help.
“We wanted to share an honest update about Jenny, her ALS progression, and the medical care we’re currently receiving in India,” the couple captioned the video series. “ALS continues to change our lives, and we want to keep everyone who has supported us informed about what we’re going through.”
Here’s a breakdown of everything Sumit and Jenny discussed in their newest update.
On Jenny’s Health:
The first disheartening announcement came early on in Part 1 when Jenny told fans, “I can’t talk.”
“Unfortunately, the ALS is progressing, and now it’s showing more in her [speech]. Like, it’s hard for her to talk now,” Sumit explained for his wife. “Again, [it’s hard for her to] walk and mentally, it’s bad as well.”
Sumit explained that Jenny has been struggling with movement and balance as her spine and neck weaken. He also clarified that her symptoms began long before her diagnosis, and even before they traveled to England to film for “90 Day Fiance: The Last Resort” Season 3. He said that when they received her diagnosis in December 2025, doctors said that it’s possible Jenny could’ve been living with early stages of ALS for nearly two years.
“Jenny is getting weaker, so it’s about time that we will start using the equipment,” Sumit said, likely referring to mobility aids.
He added that, so far, Jenny has not used mobility aids (like walkers, wheelchairs, etc.) to hopefully avoid becoming dependent on them. However, her condition has now progressed to the point that she may need them.
“Maybe soon you will see that Jenny will be on some kind of support system [that] we can buy here and use it,” Sumit said.
Sumit also spoke about wanting to get Jenny to America so she can access better treatment (and use her medical insurance, which she doesn’t have in India).
“So yeah, it’s progressing, but we were thinking that we could come to America to get proper treatment,” Sumit– who filed for an emergency tourist visa last month– explained.
“I still try to have high hopes,” he continued. “I try to hope that America might have something better for Jenny and [that] she could get, at least, a better support system.” (For context, Jenny is from Palm Springs, California, which is near to where her daughter, Christina Cuevas, lives.)
Currently no treatment that stops the progression of ALS, but Sumit believes that coming to America could make Jenny more comfortable.
On Moving to America and Sumit’s Visa Process
Sumit explained that the main drive to get him and Jenny to America is for her to get access to better ALS care. He said that there are not many experienced ALS specialists in India, so going to America would make it easier for Jenny to access treatment as the disease progresses.
Sumit explained that he felt Jenny’s care was plateauing with specialists in India and he hoped that American doctors could have deeper insight into how to help ease her symptoms.

“Our plan was [to] get the visa, and I’ll travel with Jenny and go [to America] and start the treatment,” he explained. “If it was taking time, then I could go back to India, and if it was required and Jenny was taking time, then I could go back there.”
Sumit went on to say that since he doesn’t have his visa yet, Jenny has not traveled by herself to get treatment in America. Last month, Christina had revealed that Jenny’s doctor has advised her not to travel alone as her condition worsens.
He then detailed the heartbreaking situation that he and Jenny are now in, stating that— should Jenny got to America— she may not be able to return to India due to her disease’s progression. If that happens— and Sumit doesn’t have a visa— he will not be able to come to America and they will be permanently separated.
“It means that we’re going to be apart, apart forever,” he said.

Jenny confirmed that she didn’t want to take the risk of never seeing Sumit again by traveling without him.
“A lot of people are saying that Jenny should go back home to America, to her daughters, to her family,” Sumit said. “Like, why don’t you understand that we thought about that and we’re not doing a vacation [here]. We love each other, and obviously I want Jenny to start getting treated and I want Jenny to start feeling better, but at least, she needs a support system.”
Jenny also made a point of saying that India is “[her] home.”

Sumit explained that the situation is hard: either wait perhaps indefinitely to receive a visa and delay Jenny’s treatment in America, or sacrifice their relationship.
He explained that his original visa appointment with the Indian consulate was scheduled for February 2027, but after explaining the urgency of his situation, he was able to meet with them earlier. Sumit said that during his interview, he mentioned that he and his wife appeared on “90 Day Fiance,” which is what he believes led to his application ultimately getting rejected. He claimed that once the show came into the conversation, the interviewer rerouted the questions to discuss Sumit’s intentions for going to America.
Sumit stated that he believed that since many former cast members took the opportunity of coming to America to “scam” their partners, the consulate assumed that of him as well.
“There was no way we could convince them, and I believe they already made up their minds,” he alleged. “You get two to five minutes to explain everything and they think that you are right or that you have wrong intentions. I feel like I have all the right intentions, I have all the right reasons. My wife is American, we’ve been married for five years, living in India for the last seven years, never tried to move to America, and now I’m trying to go on a tourist visa and not even a spousal visa.”

On How They Are Hoping Taking Their Plea Public Will Help Them:
At the end of their fourth video, Sumit referenced the outpouring of support fellow “90 Day” alums Kenny Niedermeier and Armando Rubio received over the last month as their daughter, Hannah, received medical treatment in Arizona. Overwhelming fan attention helped Armando get noticed by Arizona state representatives and helped him secure an emergency humanitarian visa while his daughter recovered in the U.S.
“We saw Kenny and Armando get help, [so] we are hoping and expecting that somebody [can help],” Sumit said. “Jenny’s condition is serious. If you want me to show reports, I’ll show that. If they want me to show my marriage certificate, I can show that too, but nothing is being asked of me. That makes me feel like that [rejection] was unfair, unfair for us that we never even got to explain our side properly.
“I understand their side as well. They have limited time,” he continued. “Obviously, people do wrong things and scam and try to just get a green card to America, then leave their partner, and it happens on our show, as well. That’s why they thought it’s not going to work here, so I didn’t get the visa.”

Sumit asked for fans’ suggestions and expert advice.
“I hope somebody will come up with a solution, maybe a lawyer or attorney or someone, somebody who’s a specialist in immigration,” he said. “I just want to go there to make sure that whenever I need to, I can go back there.”
Sumit ended their last video by saying that he is trying his best to take care of Jenny and, in his mind, there is nobody better to take care of her.
While they wait on their appeal for their visa, the couple is continuing to receive donations from a GoFundMe page started by a family friend in May to help cover mounting health expenses. At press time, the page has received over $107,000 in donations.

Jenny and Sumit’s “90 Day” co-stars and family members took to the posts’ comments sections to express their love and support for the couple.
“Jenny definitely needs her husband with her!” commented Kenny. “Appeal to the California government, but trust me guys, we are working on this behind the scenes for everyone to be able to get just this type of visa! Hang in there, love you!
“Humanitarian visas exist for exactly this reason, and that she can go home to get the treatment she deserves,” wrote Daniele Gates. “As a citizen of the US who paid taxes for decades, she is entitled to heal and receive treatment with her very loving husband by her side. The most critical piece healing is love and support from your family, and we should never have to choose between our husbands and our lives. That’s the definition of humanity. I pray you get the services you need.”
“We’re going to fight this,” wrote Jenny’s daughter Christina. “You guys stay strong mom. Keep moving. Keep talking. We’re going to fight this. I’ve reached out to the senator’s office again. I love you both so much. We will win.”

This is so sad to me. This seems like one of the only couples from the show who genuinely love each other and fought for each other. You never got a hint that it was a green card deal.
