Over a month after his daughter Hannah was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital after suffering a brain bleed, Armando Rubio is going home– with Hannah!
On Saturday, Armando announced on Instagram that his family– including American husband Kenny Niedermeier— is headed home to Mexico following an urgent medical emergency that kept Hannah in Arizona for weeks.
“Thank you, Arizona. Thank you, USA,” he wrote. “With so much gratitude, we are headed back to Mexico.”
Armando— who had to fight to be allowed into the United States to be with his daughter— has stayed in the U.S. during Hannah’s recovery.

“When Hannah’s medical emergency happened, we dropped everything and left home without knowing what the next day would bring,” Armando wrote. “We are now returning weeks later to settle everything we left behind and, most importantly, to take a breath and see what the future holds.”
Armando told fans that Hannah is “doing really well” now.
“She’s back to her old self, however with some restrictions,” he wrote of the teen. “She still does not have a diagnosis as to [what caused] her brain bleed, and the road ahead is still filled with tons of questions. The next few months will bring many doctors’ appointments, tests and decisions as we try to understand what is happening and figure out what the future looks like for her.”

“But for today, we are grateful for the blessings we have,” he continued. “Grateful that Hannah is here. Grateful for every prayer, every message, every person who helped us. Every doctor, nurse, friend, stranger, and family member who stood beside us through all this.
“And to Arizona and the USA, thank you for allowing me entry to be at my daughter’s side, for giving us a place to be together when we needed it most,” he concluded. “Thank you all for your love!”
Getting Hannah well and home safely has not been easy for Kenny and Armando. Back in July, Hannah was rushed to the hospital after experiencing stroke-like symptoms. After evaluation at a hospital in Mexico, it was determined that she needed to be transported to the U.S. for more specialized care. Kenny was able to be with Hannah in Arizona, as he’s a U.S. citizen. Hannah, as his stepdaughter, has permanent resident status, but Armando could not go be with Hannah without a visa.

Three days after Hannah was airlifted to Phoenix, Armando was able to obtain an emergency visa to be with Hannah. Due to the strict stipulations of his visa, the Department of Homeland Security sent Armando back home less than a week later. Luckily, with help from Arizona State Representative Adelita Grijalva, he was able to extend his visa for 30 more days, which allowed time for Hannah to recover and for doctors to attempt to diagnose what caused the health scare.
Although no new updates were posted to Kenny and Armando’s GoFundMe page, the donations have been paused indefinitely. A family friend started the page when Hannah was transported to the U.S. and before closing, they had raised nearly $182,000.
