Two days after being forced to leave the United States, 90 Day Fiancé star Armando Rubio is returning to Arizona to reunite with his husband Kenny Niedermeier and daughter Hannah, who is recovering from a brain bleed.
“My humanitarian Visa has been extended for 30 more days!” Armando posted to Instagram on Sunday. “This means that I can continue being in Arizona with Hannah while she receives the medical treatment she still needs and, most importantly, remain by her side through her recovery, together with Kenny, for the next month at least.
“I want to extend my deepest gratitude and appreciation to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for reviewing my case with compassion and granting this extension,” he continued. “Every officer I’ve interacted with has treated me with kindness and respect, and I am forever grateful.”
In his post, Armando also thanked U.S. Representative Adelita Grijalva for “advocating on [his] behalf,” as well as his immigration attorney, Kelsey Zubkoff, for helping to reunite his family in their time of need.
“Finally, a huge thank you to every single one of you who have prayed for [Hannah], shared our story, sent encouraging messages, and supported our family,” Armando added. “Your love has carried us through the hardest days of our lives. This approval to remain at my daughter’s side is one more answered prayer, thank you. Please keep Hannah in your prayers as she continues healing.”
As The Ashley previously told you, 13-year-old Hannah was airlifted from Yuma, Arizona, to Phoenix earlier this month after experiencing stroke-like symptoms at home in Mexico, which were later attributed to an unexpected brain bleed. Kenny– who is an American citizen– was able to be with Hannah when she arrived in the U.S., as were Armando’s mom and sister. (Because Hannah is Kenny’s legal stepdaughter, she is designated as a permanent U.S. resident, though Armando is not.)
Armando’s emergency medical visa was denied several times before the TLC star was able to receive a temporary humanitarian visa that allowed him to travel to Arizona. The stipulation of the visa was that Armando could only stay in the country as long as Hannah remained in critical condition, so when Hannah was released from the hospital more than a week ago, Armando’s visa was revoked and he had to return home. Hannah has since been re-admitted to the hospital and released again; however, she has yet to receive a diagnosis. Armando and Kenny remain optimistic that new scans and tests can give them some answers.
Last week, Kenny told TMZ that although Hannah is no longer bedridden, she continues to suffer from partial blindness, weakness and shaking. She is currently taking anti-seizure medications, as well as medication to prevent brain swelling. Kenny also noted last week that Hannah’s right arm and hand are still weaker than her left, proving difficult for her recovery.
A friend of the family started a GoFundMe earlier this month to help support Hannah during this unprecedented time of need. At press time, more than 50,000 donations have been made to the online fundraiser, which currently sits at more than $180,000.
