Taylor Frankie Paul Explains Her Short Rehab Stay; Claims it Was for a Mental Health “Reset” & Not Substance Issues

“A little stay in The ‘Hab ain’t a bad thing, guys!”

Taylor Frankie Paul recently had a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it stay at a rehab facility, and on Sunday, the ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ star opened up on social media about why she sought treatment, seemingly denying the rumors circulating that she went to get help for substance abuse issues.

As The Ashley previously reported on July 1, Taylor voluntarily checked herself into a facility, but quickly checked out.

On Sunday, Taylor posted a video in which she talked about her decision to go to rehab. She added the (grammatically-challenged) caption, “Yes I seeked help at a facility. I owe this to nobody but I like to share my life from my mouth.”

Taylor started the video by insisting she didn’t post the video to attempt to clear up rumors circulating about herself. Instead, she stated that she’s “very open with my mental health.”

“I wanted to be the first one to share but it’s OK that I’m not,” Taylor said, obviously referring to the fact that the story broke last week.

The mom of three— who is currently in the middle of two nasty custody battles with her baby daddies— stated that she decided she needed to get some help amid her currently chaos.

“I knew that I was in a spot to take a step back and be like, ‘OK we need a reset,'” she said.

Taylor next seemed to be addressing the rumor circulating online that she went to the rehab facility to get help for a drug addiction. (A Utah judge recently ruled that Taylor must undergo drug and alcohol testing in order to maintain unsupervised parenting time with her two oldest kids. If she fails the tests, her visitation will have to be supervised.)

“Facilities are not just [for] substance [abuse],” Taylor said in her video. “I just want you guys to know that. Rehabs are not only for that. There are a list of reasons why people go into them. My number one priority was just a reset for my mental health, and to get away— whether it’s one day, whether it’s seven, whether it’s 30. I willingly did that. That was my choice.”

Taylor stated that it was “cruel” of fans to judge her for going to rehab, and that it was wrong for people to have discussed why she may have sought treatment in the first place.

“How dare you care about my personal life! It’s not like I’ve made every aspect of my life insanely public! Oh…wait.”

“It kind of bums me out that it was kinda weaponized against me for actually doing the right thing of noticing I needed extra help, in whatever that may be,” Taylor said.

“There is absolutely nothing wrong with noticing you need extra support and seeking it,” she added in the video.

Taylor went on to tell her fans she’s found an anti-depressant that’s been working for her. However, she said she was worried to go public with her choice to seek treatment for a few reasons.

“There’s so many people out there watching this situation,” she said. “Not only that, but it worries me to ever seek help because the result of what has happened. There’s, like, a very serious situation going on. Like, maximum level.”

Taylor said her decision to seek help was “the one thing I wanted to keep private, which I feel like I was entitled to.”

“I was willing to be open with those that needed to know,” she added. “…however, that wasn’t enough.”

“In other words, next time I should sell the story to the press myself!”

As The Ashley previously reported, Taylor’s stay in The ‘Hab came on the heels of her ex-husband, Tate Paul, filing for a temporary restraining order (TRO) against her and allegedly requesting sole custody of their two children. (Last Wednesday, a judge denied Tate’s request.)

The judge denied Tate’s request for the custody switch and temporary protective order against Taylor, stating that Tate’s claims were “based upon inadmissible hearsay, without any corroborating evidence.” The judge also questioned Tate’s claims that his kids are “in immediate danger” with Taylor, after Taylor made the judge aware that Tate left the kids in her care in June while he took a weeklong vacation to Iceland.

In addition to her custody struggles with Tate, Taylor is also currently involved in a custody battle with Dakota over their two-year-old son, Ever, amid multiple domestic violence incidents and public allegations against one another.

Last week, Taylor’s mom Liann May took to social media to stand up for her daughter.

“Both dads know 100 damn right that Taylor’s a GREAT mother!” Liann wrote. “Trying to keep [the kids] away from her is only going to hurt my grandbabies! They LOVE their mommy more than anyone or anything in this world & they both know it!”

Taylor had quite the crash-out on social media last week, something she seemed to be addressing in a post on Monday. She reposted a post from the @LessonsInDiscernment Instagram account with a telling quote.

“If you’ve had to go quiet for legal reasons, this is for you,” the posts reads. “Your silence was never the absence of a story. It was discipline. Protecting what mattered more than being believed right now.”

Taylor added her own comment of, “Exactly thank you” to her repost.
