The Johnstons are back!
Earlier this month, TLC released the first trailer for the 18th season of “7 Little Johnstons,” which will follow the family as they navigate a new baby, relationship problems and… Amber‘s menopause.
(In other words, the storyline possibilities have really dried up since the family’s black sheep, Anna, departed this mess last year.)
According to the trailer, a main focus of the upcoming season will be Liz Johnston welcoming her second baby with husband Brice Bolden. (As fans know, Liz and Brice welcomed their son Coleman in September.)
The family is excited for the arrival of Liz and Brice’s baby, with anticipation building over whether this baby will be of average height like his big sister, Leighton, or be a little person. Liz has previously been open about wanting to have an LP child, which was a topic of discussion last season.

Liz and Brice share in the trailer their worries about the complicated birth process for Liz as a little person. Like when she delivered Leighton, Liz has to go under general anesthesia and undergo a C-section because her skeleton is too small to give birth vaginally. Brice shared that he’s “not sure what to do” if something goes wrong while in the delivery room, but doctors told the couple to be prepared for a scenario where Liz stops breathing.
Moving right along, we will next have to endure a storyline focusing on Amber going through “the change.” The Johnston matriarch will open up this season about the onset of menopause and how it’s affecting her mood and marriage to Trent. One episode will even feature a menopause party where Amber bakes a cake to thank her uterus for its service.
As you do…

Trent, who will be turning 50 during the season, is dedicating his time to “trying 50 new things this year” with his family, including magic tricks, cow chasing, and rock rappelling. (To our knowledge, there will be no party thrown in honor of Trent’s reproductive parts, but the Johnstons may get desperate enough next season to make this happen.)
The youngest of the bunch, Emma, is turning 21 and struggling with the fact that she’s never had a boyfriend. The season will follow as her brothers’ girlfriends Allie and Ashley attempt to matchmake for her, seemingly with their former foreign exchange guest, Joose, who’s been holding a little flame for Emma.
Things are not all hunky dory in the Johnston home, however. Tensions are rising between Trent and eldest son Jonah, who is still living at home. Trent and Amber express concerns over Jonah’s relationship with Ashley, saying that “they’ve been together for seven years” with no progress towards marriage or moving in together.

As fans know, eldest sister Anna will not be returning for any future season of “7 Little Johnstons” due to her fractured relationship with her parents. (The Ashley has reported extensively on the growing divide between Anna and her family. Get the latest update here.)
It is unknown, however, if Ma & Pa Johnston will use Anna’s recent DUI arrest as a storyline this season.

Season 18 of “7 Little Johnstons” premieres Tuesday, November 17 on TLC. Watch the first trailer below.
