Zac Affleck of ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ claims he found out through TMZ that his pregnant wife Jen filed for divorce this week; however, Jen’s latest posts are reminding fans that the couple’s split was a long time coming.
On Thursday, Zac took to TikTok to confirm that Jen had filed to end their seven-year marriage– something he claims to have found out through a TMZ reporter. While Jen allegedly didn’t give him a heads up about her plan to take legal action this week, Zac admitted that he wasn’t exactly blindsided by the move.
“Jen came to me about a year ago after [competing on] ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and told me she was unhappy and wanted to divorce,” he said, as reported by People. “And I basically begged her to stay, told her [I would] work on things, fix things, become whoever she needed me to be, and ultimately we just couldn’t make it work.”
Fans of ‘Mormon Wives’ have been following Jen and Zac’s often-turbulent marriage since Season 1 of the Hulu series, with the pair even separating briefly at the beginning of Season 2. Through the couple’s ups and (many) downs, fans watched Jen and Zac welcome their second and third child on the show. Jen announced her pregnancy with baby number four in June.
While reacting to his wife filing for divorce this week, Zac assured fans that he “still loves Jen,” though he claimed “it just really was time for us to go our own ways.” The 30-year-old also mentioned the fact that he and Jen, who is 27-years-old, “got married so young.”
“When I first met Jen, she had this light about her, unlike anyone I’ve ever met, and she really does have such a good heart,” he said, adding that he will “continue to support [Jen] and be her biggest fan.”
As for the reason that his marriage went south, Zac told followers, “life happened,” before suggesting that ‘Mormon Wives’ may have contributed to his and Jen’s ultimate demise.
“We had four kids, we signed up for reality TV on a show that’s really hurt a lot of people’s lives … it’s just hard,” he said. “Marriage is hard. Having your marriage in the public is hard, raising kids is hard, and I think we just slowly over time, we lost that spark and life happened.”
Zac insisted that both he and Jen are focused on making their children the priority as their divorce proceeds.
“ … I feel like I failed my kids and I’m worried that I’m going to cause them damage,” he admitted. “And I just hope that we can still give them a normal childhood. But as far as that goes, Jen and I are definitely on the same page of wanting to give them the best life we can, the best childhood we can and be teammates and work together to do that.”

On the heels of Zac’s reaction video, Jen began rolling out receipts online to seemingly justify her decision to file for divorce. In the first of two throwback videos posted to TikTok, Zac could be heard criticizing his wife’s appearance as she filmed content for social media.
“[I] hope you’re not making a TikTok looking like that,” Zac told Jen, who was only two weeks postpartum when the clip was filmed. “Your boobs are literally, like– your tits are sagging all over. You don’t want to post that, baby, I can tell you that right now.”
While Jen laughed off her husband’s rude remarks in the video, she stated in her caption that Zac “was never [her] biggest supporter.”
The second throwback video Jen posted on Thursday showed Zac criticizing her on-camera once again, this time for falling behind with the household laundry.
“I’ve been doing all your laundry for the past– forever,” Jen replied after Zac questioned why there weren’t any clean towels in their bathroom. “If I got a little bit more help … it’d be nice, maybe we’d have some towels.”
As The Ashley told you in September, Jen is set to star in the upcoming ‘Mormon Wives’ spin-off, ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County’, premiering November 12 on Hulu. According to TMZ, Zac did not film any scenes for the new series, nor was he involved in production.
While many romantic relationships within the ‘Mormon Wives’ universe have crashed and burned since the show premiered in 2024, Jen and Zac are the second married couple to call it quits. In March, “MomTok” member Jessi Draper filed to end her marriage to husband Jordan Ngatikaura after five years and two children.
