Ryan Sutter, one half of the Bachelor’s poster-couple for happy post-Bachelor relationships, had some harsh things to say about the newest couple to come out of the Bachelor.
Ryan blogged on http://www.snow.com (a site that he and his wife, the ever-perky Trista, both contribute to) that he has little hope that Brad and Emily‘s relationship will survive.
For no apparent reason he wrote a blog about the couple (and entitled it “Another Bachelor Breakup.” Way to be positive, Ry.)
Here’s part of what he wrote:
“I don’t give Bachelor Brad and his young fiancé, Emily, much of a chance. How could I… they have been subject to stresses and distractions that most relationships would not survive and could not possibly relate to. They don’t live anywhere near each other. Their lives are constantly scrutinized. They have no privacy and they have people, like me, doubting their chance of survival. They will most certainly be available on the singles circuit soon.
He goes on to say that he and Trista faced the same problems, but Trista was more willing to invest in the relationship than Emily seemingly is:
“Though others doubted our chances, we never did. We never worried about what would happen if we didn’t make it. Trista, a sun loving city girl, moved to Vail, Colorado, a winter-dominated small town. She never looked back. She never said, “what if.”
You can read the entire blog post here. Although Ryan makes some valid points, including that Brad and Emily are facing more obstacles than most couples, The Ashley thinks it’s kind of hypocritical for him to come to the “After the Final Rose” special and give advice to Brad and Emily, and then write something like this.
Emily and Brad seem to be going strong at this point, and they certainly don’t need a Negative Nancy like Ryan saying things like this. It’s one thing if the media or the tabloids say things like this, it’s another if a person who calls himself a “friend” to the couple says it. (Remember, Chris Harrison told Emily and Brad that all of the happy couples are part of their Bachelor ‘family.’)
Maybe Ryan wasn’t trying to be intentionally mean, but it sure came off as catty to The Ashley!
Trista, you need to kick your husband’s butt for putting something like this on the Internet!
