Caitlyn Jenner Talks ‘I Am Cait’ Season 2, Kardashians & Being an LGBT Spokesperson

"Watch my new season!"
“Watch my new season!”

She may be one of the most recognizable transgender icons of all time, but Caitlyn Jenner says she doesn’t consider herself to be a spokesperson for the LGBT community.

“I am not a spokesperson for this community. I am only a spokesman for me and my story. … I have so much to learn about womanhood,” Caitlyn told The Ashley and other reporters today during a panel at the Television Critics Association press tour. “I have so much more to learn about trans issues and about being a woman. I’m only nine months out.”

The second season of ‘I Am Cait’ will see Caitlyn and her transgender friends Chandi Moore, Candis Cayne, Jennifer Finney Boylan and newcomer Ella Giselle as they go on an RV roadtrip. The Ashley and other reporters at the panel were given a sneak peek at the new season, which will continue to cover Caitlyn’s transition.

“I want to change people’s thinking on the issue,” Caitlyn “These are fun…people to be around and they needed to be represented positively. It’s really easy for reporters to dwell on the negative issues…But with this show I want people to know that these are normal people. I would love to take the show global. I want to see what trans issues are all around the world.

Caitlyn stated that, in her previous life as a man, she was somewhat of a loner, something that has changed since her transition.

“I really enjoy having a social life,” she said.

“Transitioning is not easy, especially if you do it in the public eye,” Caitlyn added. “I really had no choice and I was getting destroyed in the tabloids for years. I really had to address it at some point.”

The Season 2 roadtrip included stops at the Grand Canyon, Tulsa, New York, New Mexico, Iowa, Chicago, Kansas City, New Orleans. Caitlyn and her friends stated that, overall, they were treated well throughout the country.

“Along the way we were meeting members of the LGBT community who are in smaller towns,” executive producer Andrea Metz stated.

“We went to some of the greatest truck stops in America!” Caitlyn added.

In addition to the roadtrip, Season 2 of ‘I Am Cait’ will cover Caitlyn receiving her first driver’s license as a woman, as well as Caitlyn’s decisions about whether she will date males or females.

When asked why she chose to make ‘I Am Cait’ very different from Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Caitlyn stated that she wanted her show to address something deeper than clothes, boyfriends and fame, which are frequent topics on her family’s reality show.

“It was a conscious decision that I wanted this show to be about the issues,” Caitlyn said. “Sure we all love good clothes and all that kind of stuff but I really wanted people to get to know all of my girls. I love my kids, I have a great relationship with all my children. But this is a different show…I wanted to somehow keep that distance.

Caitlyn stated that she still shoots occasionally for ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians,’ which was one of the reasons she decided to do ‘I Am Cait’ on E!

“This season you will see a lot more of the Kardashians and of Caitlyn’s ever-changing relationship with all the [Kardashian/Jenner] girls and with Kris,” executive producer Andrea Metz told reporters.

When asked for a tip on keeping her skin and body looking good, Caitlyn offered some hilarious advice, obviously a nod to her days as a former cereal box cover star.

“Eat your Wheaties.”

  1. Bruce Jenner is a fraud. He finally admitted that he won’t be dating women ever again. On the Diane Sawyer interview he said that gender had nothing to do with who you’re attracted to. He said he was always attracted to women. He’s such a fraud, he was always attracted to men, I think in his case it’s all about him being gay, and being very conservative and not wanting to come out as gay, so now he can be a woman and like men like he always did. I always caught the gay vibe off of him years before the K’s were on the air. His show just that a
TV show for entertainment. He would never be riding around in a bus with other trans people if he weren’t being filmed and getting paid, he’s such a fraud a liar. If you want to see a great show on this subject, watch ‘I am Jazz’ who is an awesome young girl and has the most amazing family, it’s coming back on for another season on TLC. I won’t watch anything with Bruce or the K’s in it!

    1. I don’t watch either show, so I don’t really have an opinion about him personally, but I really doubt he went trough all these surgeries and took all these risks Just because he was afraid to come out as a gay

      1. Oh it’s possible, nothing would be surprise me, he’s a card carrying conservative Republican. He’s very conservative, and whould have never come out as gay as a man, you don’t know what’s in his head. If you go by what he himself said, that gender has nothing to do with who you’re attracted to. He said to Diane Sawyer “I always considered himself a hetro man, attracted to women, and just because I’m transition that will not change.” Now he just said he will never date women again, he is a fraud and a liar.

    2. When you undergo a transition many people’s sexual it changes. IT might be hormonal. I don’t think it means she always liked men. But I agree she is out of touch and spoiled, and she is not a good rep for her community.

  2. And another thing….remember that time Bruce killed a woman?! Everyone seems to forget about that…I guess since Bruce did it, that makes Caitlyn innocent since they’re not the same person and all. I’m sure if anyone else killed somebody they wouldn’t get a reality show, or awards. UGHHHHHHH. Wynona Ryder shop lifted and her career got ruined. Bruce killed somebody but Caitlyn gets a reality show and all this praise. LIKE I CAN’T WITH OUR SOCIETY!!!

  3. My feelings are thank god for another season. Bruce, I mean Cait, is an inspiration to all Trans people as well as representing the “Woman of the year”. What a true patriot. My only question is did he chop off the pork sword yet? It just seems a little awkward being that fashionable as a women with a Calm Hammer in your panties. I’m I alone here?

  4. I had such high hopes for this show. I mean, how many transgender people get the opportunity to show truth and struggle to a wide audience? To perhaps get people to understand? And what did Caitlyn do? Turned it into yet another outlet for the never-ending long arms of Kardashian. I swear, one episode was almost a commercial for terrible Kylie’s hair extension line. If they had to be involved, it should have been only as family members learning to understand, and learning to have a new relationship, not “Kim gets mad about something stupid”, “Khloe has more nonsense to spout”, and “Oh look, there’s Kris being an asshole again”. The one real moment I saw was between Caitlyn, her mother and her sister, as they actually discussed this and showed some actual emotion. I was over it quickly, and so so disappointed. What a waste of an opportunity!

  5. I can’t believe they gave this dickhead another season. I stopped watching the 1st season after the 2nd episode. This person is so self absorbed and just all around shitty. And constantly winks. UGH.
