‘Fear Factor’ is Coming Back! MTV Revives Show With New Host Ludacris

“You kiddies ready for Roach-ella?”

If you enjoy watching people eat live bugs, crawl through tubes of snakes and do other insane things in order to get cash, you’re in luck! Fear Factor is coming back!

The game show, which originally aired from 2001-2006 in the first “wave” of reality television shows, was revived in 2011, but cancelled again in 2012. (Who could forget the odd and sometimes creepy “themed” episodes that aired during the show’s last season?)

MTV has decided that people still want to watch other people eat bugs, even in 2017, so it’s bringing ‘Fear Factor’ back…with a few tweaks. The network will be changing up the show’s host: Joe Rogan, who was the original host of the show, will be replaced by Ludacris.

In a statement, the rapper/actor promised that the revised ‘Fear Factor’ will be crazier than ever.

“I am excited to kick off my partnership with MTV starting with the relaunch of ‘Fear Factor,’ which will be even more insane and ludicrous than what you remember,” said Ludacris, who will also serve as an executive producer of the show. “This will be the first of many great projects together.”

The show’s premise will incorporate things from today’s pop culture.

“Filled with new stunts inspired by urban legends, popular scary movies and viral videos from today’s cultural zeitgeist, “Fear Factor” contestants will confront their fears, be pushed beyond their comfort zones and take action against some of their biggest stressors,” an MTV press release states. “Nothing will be off limits as MTV aims to hit on youth tension points with challenges including ‘Roach-ella,’ ‘Trap Queen,’ and personal cell phone rescues at heights of over one hundred feet, to name a few.”

“MTV is about celebrating youth culture, and with the reinvented ‘Fear Factor,’ we are putting the power in our audience’s hands to face and overcome their biggest fears,” MTV President Chris McCarthy said in a statement.

Each of the 12, one-hour episodes will see one team awarded the $50,000 in prize money.

“Contestants will pair up into four teams – siblings, college rivalries, roommates, best friends, co-workers and exes and more – battling it out for $50,000 of cold hard cash and ‘Fear Factor’ bragging rights,” the press release states.

The first episode of the revived ‘Fear Factor’ will premiere on Tuesday, May 30 on MTV.

  1. Lol, no more Joe Rogan? And he’s been replaced with Ludacris? This kind of seems like an April Fool’s joke, but it’s way too late for that 😀

  2. $50,000 always seemed so low to be doing 3 rounds (I think?) of that nonsense. Some of those people just wanted to be on TV I’m convinced.

  3. Ludacris will so definitely make the show amazingly special with his presence. Should be a can’t miss blockbuster with beautiful huge success guaranteed. Bestest news eva!!!
