Corinne Olympios & DeMario Jackson Break Their Silence Regarding ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Scandal

Corinne has spoken out…and lawyered up…

It’s been several days since news broke that filming of the fourth season of Bachelor in Paradise had been shut down and, while numerous details have surfaced about what allegedly happened between contestants Corinne Olympios and DeMario Jackson to cause the shutdown, neither party had spoken out about the incident publicly…until now.

On Wednesday, Corinne broke her silence, revealing in a statement to TMZ how she is doing in the days since the alleged incident.

As The Ashley previously reported, a ‘BIP’ producer filed a misconduct in the workplace complaint last week, after allegedly witnessing a sexual encounter between Corinne and DeMario that made the producer uncomfortable, mostly due to the fact that the producer felt that both parties were too drunk to consent to the sexual acts that reportedly took place.

Corinne, who hired high-powered celebrity lawyer Marty Singer and a publicist in recent days, issued the following statement to TMZ on Wednesday:

“I am a victim and have spent the last week trying to make sense of what happened on June 4. Although I have little memory of that night, something bad obviously took place, which I understand is why production on the show has now been suspended and a producer on the show has filed a complaint against the production.

“As a woman, this is my worst nightmare and it has now become my reality. As I pursue the details and facts surrounding that night and the immediate days after, I have retained a group of professionals to ensure that what happened on June 4 comes to light and I can continue my life, including hiring an attorney to obtain justice and seeking therapy to begin dealing with the physical and emotional trauma stemming from that evening.”

According to TMZ, DeMario (who is a cast-off from the current season of The Bachelorette) was highly intoxicated during the incident, and has stated (off the record) that he feels he didn’t do anything wrong, as Corinne appeared lucid during the acts. A lawyer for Warner Bros. has reportedly requested the tapes of DeMario and Corinne’s sexual encounter, and DeMario is hoping to get the tapes released too, in order to clear his name.

DeMario told the paparazzi on Tuesday, “I have nothing to say. You know, Corinne’s an awesome girl and that’s all I have to say. Love you all, thank you for the support.”

The incident is currently under investigation.

UPDATE! DeMario has issued an official statement to the press, and E! News has uncovered some interesting new details regarding the alleged incident.

In a statement issued Wednesday via his publicist, DeMario stated, “It’s unfortunate that my character and family name has been assassinated this past week with false claims and malicious allegations. I will be taking swift and appropriate legal action until my name is cleared and, per the advice of legal counsel, will be seeking all available remedies entitled to me under the laws.”

E! News stated on Wednesday that the producer who filed the original misconduct complaint was not actually on the set when the interaction between Corinne and DeMario occurred. (This is the first time this detail has been reported, to The Ashley’s knowledge.) The E! News source also claims that a second producer on the set also filed a complaint. According to Reality Steve, that second producer had not seen the footage and had also not been present during the alleged incident. ABC has not confirmed any of this, however.

  1. Last year when The Chad was on I thought that the producers allowed a potentially dangerous situation to play out. They were lucky then, not so much this year. And the whole “who is to blame?” Well, Reality Steve has been saying for years that the Bachelor producers are a bunch of douchebags, and they don’t have the best interests of the contestant in mind.

Fame whores (both sexes) & greedy producers only looking for controversy and ratings = potential disaster. And it really is too bad because I think that done correctly BOP could be really good.

  2. I don’t believe a word she says. Glad she thinks that “as a woman” she needs more protection under the law for being loose to earn money.
A reality show based on drunken people physically-attracted to each other because otherwise they are middle class trash like the rest of us having no moral compass??? Color me impressed…

  3. I’m confused… How can the producers filed a complain if they weren’t even there and didn’t watch the video? Something sounds fishy.

  4. These crap fests are a bad idea anyway. She’s a tiny little girl, who they let get piss drunk. I’m not blaming the show, but alcohol flows freely and they encourage this kind of behavior. Now it’s going to have legal ramifications. Hopefully, this shitshow will be cancelled.

    1. It’s happened before, at least once that I know of. Tonya Cooley sued MTV after she was assaulted while passed out drunk. They never released the terms of the settlement, but I suspect something similar will happen here. We’ll likely never find out for sure one way or another.

  5. She’s a fame whore and so is he!!
I don’t believe for one minute she didn’t remember any of it…visa versa!
I did for the first time I watched bachelor in paradise last year. There was sex going on all over Mexico ?? with all of them..very risqué so I’m confused as to what made this sex scene worse than what I watched last year.
Anyway at the end of the day all I see is opportunistic bull shitay!!

  6. What’s the point of having a nanny looking after you as a grown woman if she’s not going to look after you when you’re blackout drunk?

  7. I do not believe her. I think she just wants attention. If he did really sexually assault her why didn’t any of the cast or crew step in. Her story does not add up sexual assault is not to be taken lightly. People like her are the reason when real victims speak up no one believes them.

    1. People like you could also be the reason. Here you are attacking her when the claims are that video footage show her passing out in the pool and subsequently being assaulted. I don’t see how you can attack her while simultaneously defending victims who get ostracized for speaking up…isn’t that what you’ve done here?

      1. Yeah she passed out yet got out of the pool and rode someones face. But of course the black person is guilty even when the white lady instigated it for attention. People who were there quit following her on social media and numerous reports came for his defense. Didn’t you see her on the Bachelor she’s thirsty for attention regardless of what she has to do! The only thing he is guilty of is being black! Your gonna tell me there was numerous crew around saw her pass out and no one did shit… Yeah right she’s and attention whore who is a fucking slut with out boundaries who gives real sexual assault victims a bad name!

      2. Trust me the day after I got assaulted I didn’t speak out to the world my closest friends do not even know. I’m anonymous on her and I still feel uncomfortable taking about it. She speaks out what two days later she did the same shit she did on the bachelor that she did on bachelor in paradise except she’ll call it rape, because the man is black this time. She a fame whore who has made nothing of her life before bachelor she was a fucking nanny! she’s milking this for what it is worth! Once her 15 minutes is up she be what she was before the bachelor a nobody slut! I hope he presses charges this dumb skank is fucking over real assault victims. No one forced her to sit on his lap or get out the pool and ride face. Fuck this dirty bitch coming from a REAL SURVIVOR OF SEXUAL ASSAULT!

  8. Wait what, so you no longer need to be responsible for your own actions anymore? If you do something you regret you just sue someone. How created this world?????

  9. As an adult we are all responsible for our actions. That being said, as a women you should know better than to drink to the point of “Blackout” around strangers that don’t have your best interest in mind.

  10. I am waiting to form an opinion on this until the actual facts come out legally. There is so much he said she said. There is a producer who filed the complaint that never even witnessed the acts, there’s a former producer saying that they absolutely do intervene if a contestant is too drunk. So who knows? I’m waiting for the actual facts. They said they tape everything so eventually the truth will come out

Kind of sad my guilty pleasure summer show is toast lol

  11. Agree- but when you isolate a group of people from the rest of the world, remove all technology and provide limitless alcohol, things get a bit more complicated. There’s no doubt in my mind that an adult should know his or her limits when it comes to alcohol. Unfortunately, that is so often not the case. Fortunately, criminal acts aren’t excusable on account of a victim’s poor choices.

  12. I’m having a hard time understanding if this was a crime, and she was a victim, if the article is saying they were BOTH too drunk to consent…but if it was an interaction that alarmed staff, why did nobody intervene until after it occurred?

    1. Thank you. I was wondering the same thing. If one party is sober and the other intoxicated, then yes there is a clear victim. If BOTH parties are highly intoxicated, one doesn’t get to claim that the other took advantage in an otherwise consensual encounter.

      1. Being drunk is never a defense to committing a crime. Rape is non-consensual sex, so, to prove it, you would have to prove one party consented and the other did not. Here, they are allegeing that the female was passing out in the pool and actually blacked out when the male lifted her from the pool and preformed sexual acts on her. Passed out=not consenting. Does not matter how drunk the guy was, if he was doing things to a blacked out woman it’s rape. If they are both awake, again you would have to prove the elements of rape. Making things exceedingly more difficult. The video footage will probably clear up this point of contention fairly easily. If she’s awake and engaging in the activities, there won’t be a case. If not, there will be. Not sure if this clarifies anything, but hope it helps.

        1. I realize that. However, the article doesn’t mention anything about her being passed out while the man lifts her out of the pool and performs sexual acts on her. My comment was based solely on this article which doesn’t even imply such a thing. I also made it clear that I was talking about a consensual encounter where both parties are intoxicated. If what she is alleging is that he was awake and she wasn’t, yes that’s nonconsensual and rape. And yes, the video footage should clear that up very quickly.

          1. My bad, I didn’t realize it didn’t say that here. It’s actually the article right below this one on the home page. The Ashley wrote two articles

        2. It doesn’t say that here, I hadn’t read anything about this anywhere else as I really don’t watch the show…so based on this article alone, there is no mention of her being passed out and him moving her around. But I agree, if that’s what indeed happened, it sure sounds like assault to me. It only mentions here that staffer only thought BOTH were drunk. I’m sure they’re saying that now to protect themselves. What a shame though, alcohol is a terrible thing. Overindulgence puts you in such a vulnerable place. But, with a camera crew around you’d think you would be able to stay safe. A lesson to everyone, keep yourself in a space where you can make good decisions for yourself.

    2. I’m not sure if she has so much of an issue with DeMario as she does production. You are right, if they were both impaired neither could consent and there isn’t really a culpable party. But when sober people who essentially are your employers are standing around watching, filming, and like discussing, there is something seriously wrong with that. It sounds like they are both victims.

  13. One of the biggest problems I have with this whole thing is that this woman was clearly intoxicated enough to alarm multiple people, and no medic was called. Production provided all of the alcohol and supervised the entire event, and since the contestants presumably don’t have access to cell phones or the ability to communicate with the outside world, Im assuming a great deal of liability lies with the network. People commenting that this is what the point of the show is, to film people getting intoxicated and making bad decisions, probably don’t realize that what they’re suggesting sounds a lot like “supervised rape”. If the networks goal is to get these women blackout drunk so they can film them engaging in sexual acts they can’t remember, then they have a problem. If not, which I presume is the case, then they likely have a duty to step in at some point. Just my two cents.

    1. They are equally responsible for protecting the men from becoming blackout drunk and engaging in sex acts they aren’t capable of consenting too as well. But technically, I would argue the adults involved have the responsibility not to get blackout drunk in the first place.

    2. The network is not opening up these girls mouths and forcing the alcohol down their throats. If that was the case, every girl would get blackout drunk, but they don’t. She made the choice to drink that much. Why is she absolved of any responsibilities? I honestly feel bad for the guy whose name is being dragged through the mud because this girl can’t control her own actions.

  14. They were both wasted, production should have stepped in. They wanted to get the best scandalous dirt but it went too far, and Corinne and DeMario are at fault too for getting so wasted. Corinne needs to just go on record warning women to always be in control of their senses and not to rely on anyone (like producers) to keep you safe instead of her current public statement.

    1. Agreed. There is no one party to be blamed here. Production should have stepped in. If the details released in yesterday’s post from The Ashley are really true, which it seems that they are, then they were negligent at best, complicit in allowing a non consensual act to occur. Both of the contestants involved should have been much more aware of their alcohol intake.

  15. Isn’t this what these women do on this show ? Drink and have random sex? A victim of ppl taping her make a bad decisions

  16. As a woman, you should probably learn to control your alcohol intake to be better able to protect yourself from these sorts of circumstances. Women have to be responsible for themselves because the world isn’t all sunshine and roses and sh*t happens and when you don’t have the faculties about you to be aware and protect yourself, you leave yourself open to bad things happening to you. You went on a show based on “looking for love”, yet already had a boyfriend? Now you have a Hollywood attorney and PR to try and continue your 15 seconds of fame.
