‘Counting On’ Star Jill Dillard Dares to Wear Pants in Public For First Time Ever

“Maybe I’ll really blow your mind and wear…gasp…a tank top!”

H-E-double hockey sticks has frozen over, y’all! Jill Duggar Dillard has been spotted wearing pants in public!

Let’s all take a moment to let that sink in.

Jill, who up until this point has been arguably the most devoted Duggar daughter in terms of following dress code and family rules, took a page out of her younger sister Jinger Vuolo‘s fashion book and sported pants during a trip to the Silver Dollar City amusement park this weekend!

Jill and her (now unemployed) husband Derick Dillard took a photo with Counting On fans at the theme park, and in the photo, Jill appears to be wearing what looks like jeans!

This would not be a big deal but Jill is from a family that notoriously only permits its female members to wear skirts and dresses. The Duggar family is known for their modest dress and intolerance of pants on females. (The Duggar girls have been known to wear a skirt over their track pants while working out!)

To date, Jill and Jinger are the only Duggar daughters who have dared to wear pants in public. (Jessa Seewald was pictured wearing snow pants in a blizzard once, however.)

Jill’s mother, Michelle Duggar, has been outspoken about why she and the girls dress modestly and only wear skirts and dresses.

“My daughters are the second generation of modest dressing in this family,” she has said. “They’ve grown up being dressed modestly, and in clothes that are definitely more feminine apparel. I’ve told my daughters this has been a joyful journey for me to learn what my Lord has called me to. I really feel like the Lord is impressing upon me that I should be modest in what I wear. And also, that I really should be defining who I am as a woman by choosing to wear dresses and skirts.”

Up until now, the Duggar daughters have strictly adhered to their parents’ dress code. In one memorable episode of 19 Kids and Counting, Jill refused to wear a standard firefighter’s uniform (that included pants) while working as a volunteer firefighter EMT. She opted, instead, to modify the pants into a skirt.

However, now that more of the kids are living outside the Duggar compound, it seems that they may be bending the family rules. (Jinger has even dared to wear shorts since marrying Jeremy Vuolo last year. They were long shorts, but shorts nonetheless! Not even the Duggar boys wear shorts!)

While Jill’s outfit may be ‘risque’ (by Duggar standards, anyway), she’s still technically within the Duggar modesty rules. They believe that females should keep the area from the neck to the knees covered so there’s no “defrauding” going on. (The Duggars define defrauding as “stirring up desires [in men] that cannot be righteously fulfilled.”)

Take The Ashley‘s poll and vote on which Duggar gal you think will be the next one to sport pants!

  1. Those Dillards are wild and crazy!
Well now that he’s fired she has no reason to be phony anymore. Next she’ll have her photo snapped drinking in a bar.

      1. She’s 4 months PP after another horrible c-section. I hate the Duggars as much as anyone, but give the girl a break, good grief.

    1. She has an infant, so I assumed she hasn’t lost the baby weight yet. But, with the Duggars, you never know.

        1. My two month old son was born eight days before my daughter’s first birthday and I still feel like crap. My husband keeps joking about having a third and I have actual nightmares about getting pregnant again.

  2. Good for Jill! I think dressing modestly is great but there is no reason that it can’t include wearing pants. I know they live in a warmer climate but there is no way I could wear skirts all winter long here in Canada.

  3. After having a baby you almost need to wear pants to feel like “things” are secure…. I would’ve felt very vulnerable after birth for a few weeks wearing a skirt. ??‍♀️

  4. Oh good Lord. Come to Tonitown or Springdale and get some pics of what the boys get up to. Why are they protected from scandal while the girls can’t wear normal clothes without it being a big deal. There are PLENTY of Springdale college age girls who are trying to sell pics of the boys and no one buys them.

    1. What are they trying to sell pics of the boys doing or wearing? I’m sure if they were in a dress the pics would get bought.

    2. What do all these words mean? Springdale Coeds are selling clothed pictures of college guys? What? Are there any butt pictures?

  5. Again, I don’t get how wearing a skirt can be more modest than pants. What if a huge wind blows under it?! Oh yeah, leggins. But that was just to cover yourself to avoid being groped by your brother. Such f*cked up rules they have, really!

    1. From what I’ve read about Gothard (their cult leader) and his modesty teachings, pants/jeans on women are considered immodest because men are able to see a clearer outline of their body (legs, butt), which will lead those poor, poor men to have uncontrollable thoughts and desires of lust (gag). They are always wearing the very long, usually flowy and boxy skirts. That’s half of it, the other major part is the whole feminine aspect and women shouldn’t be wearing pants because it’s too manly (gag again). And of course can’t forget Gothard’s fetish for long, wavy hair, which he incorporated into his doctrine as being the epitome of femininity, leading to the crunchy curls and Michelle’s mini breakdown a few years ago when the hairstylist cut off a few inches and made her look presentable in the makeover episode.

    2. I have never understood that either. Besides, some of those skirts that Jill wears show more of her shape than pants would! They are quite figure-hugging. (Just in case anyone takes this the wrong way, I am not saying this is a bad thing by any means, simply pointing out the flaws in their logic.)

    1. I really, REALLY hope you’re right. I feel like they’re the cockroaches of television…they seem to be able to survive the harshest of circumstances. Just can’t get rid of them. It’s still unbelievable to me that a star of their show harmed and abused of his own underage sisters and they continued on with a spinoff series despite hundreds of advertisers pulling out and public outcry. Then every other week they’re in the news for making some awful, discriminatory comment and TLC does nothing. I’m guessing that the Jazz show is making more money for TLC than the Duggar show, and that’s the reason they are finally doing *something* about Derek (this is like the 10th time he’s gone on public anti-gay, anti-trans rants).

The situation reminds me of Jenelle from Teen Mom. While the circumstances are different, she’s constantly doing terrible things and her children are clearly being abused and the network does nothing, when she should be off the damn show. All about the $$.
