‘Jersey Shore’ Star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino Is Engaged to Longtime Girlfriend Lauren Pesce

“We have a wedding situation here, folks!”

Set another place for Sunday dinner, because the Jersey Shore family is getting even bigger!

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino announced on Thursday night that he recently proposed to his college sweetheart, Lauren Pesce. The revelation came after Mike told his roommates that Lauren is “the one” during Thursday’s episode of Jersey Shore Family Vacation.

“I have always dreamed of proposing on ‘Jersey Shore, the show that introduced me to the world,” Mike told Us Weekly after the engagement announcement. “I’m currently living the dream and proposed to my college sweetheart, Lauren Pesce, amongst my best friends on the biggest reality show in the country. We are so proud and excited to share this chapter of our story with the world.”

According to Us Weekly, the proposal– which apparently took place in Miami on Valentine’s Day–will be shown during an upcoming episode of ‘Jersey Shore Family Vacation.’

Mike proposed with a ring set in a rose gold and platinum setting. A 3-carat cushion-cut diamond sits in the center of the ring and is accented with pink diamonds. (“The Situation” reportedly spent around $65,000 on the ring.)

During Thursday’s episode of ‘Jersey Shore Family Vacation,’ Mike revealed how grateful he is that Lauren, whom he first dated for three years before going on ‘Jersey Shore,’ has stuck by him through his addiction to prescription pills, a relapse and his recent legal issues. (He has pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges and is currently awaiting sentencing.)

In 2015, Mike and Lauren appeared on the fifth season of Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars, where Lauren struggled to stand by Mike through his addiction and legal issues. During the season, Mike explained why he went back to Lauren following his stint on ‘Jersey Shore.’

“Once ‘Jersey Shore’ ended [in 2012], I wanted something with substance, and the only thing I ever had with substance was her,” Mike said during the season. “She’s just the only girl who has ever known me before the fame, before the money, before the craziness.”

?✌? 2017 ? Grateful ♥️

Earlier this month, Lauren expressed how proud she is of Mike for coming so far in his recovery.

“I’ve watched him work hard in silence for years, personally and professionally, without getting any recognition,” she wrote on Instagram. “He didn’t do it for anyone to notice, he did it to better himself, his life and to create a healthy and positive future for us as a family. I am so proud of you for all you’ve overcome & the incredible man you are today.”

Mike and Lauren have not yet revealed when they plan to get hitched; however, Mike did tell Us Weekly that the wedding planning process will be shown on ‘Jersey Shore Family Vacation’ Season 2.

  1. He has really shocked me on the Family Vacation. I’m happy for him and wish them a happy life. I also wish him well on his recovery. I knew he was a messy asshole watching the original show, but now its clear just how bad he was.

  2. Im actually happy for him! He is definitely a different person now. He used to be such a shit stirrer. Hope he stays clean and sober. Congrats!

      1. I was thinking the same thing. He pays 65,000 on a ring , but he didn’t pay his taxes. He shouldn’t have said how much he paid for the ring !

  3. I am actually happy for him. Don’t get me started on Ronnie!! I think his sentencing has been postponed. IF he is sentenced to the full 5 years, I wonder if she will stick by him. The fact that he is drug and alcohol free for the past 2 years is good and may play into his favor at sentencing.

    1. I seriously can’t take Ronnie! Watching the reruns annoys me because of how he is with Sam. Watching the new show he annoys me because he’s such a douche. He purposely tried to cheat, then still tried to lie about it to the people that saw the whole thing. Ugh. I wanted to punch him when he gets nervous his girlfriend knows something and tries to say he didn’t do anything wrong.

  4. We really saw a new Mike in Family Vacation, voice of reason and actually a really down to Earth guy! I wish them all them best amid tax fraud sentencing. (Which he pleaded guilty to so again he admitted to it.)

    1. I agree! I always hated him on the original run, but it seems like he pulled himself together and is sticking with it. I’m happy for them.

  5. Congrats to them! I’ve figured for a while he was going to propose to her, although it seems like a little bit of a Hail Mary he’s doing right before he gets sentenced so she doesn’t leave….but from watching the show he seems to have really gotten himself together and she seems good for him, so best of luck to them!
