Duggar Son-in-Law Derick Dillard Says Jazz Jennings Having Gender Confirmation Surgery is a “Kind of Child Abuse”

“You again? Really, bro?”

Here he comes again!

Former Counting On star Derick Dillard hit the keyboard on Thursday, eager to once again share his thoughts on the life of transgender teen reality star Jazz Jennings. Derick, who has been very vocal about his disapproval of transgender individuals (even calling them “mentally ill” at one point last month), spoke out when Jazz provided an update after having her gender confirmation surgery earlier this week.

In addition to reposting an article that stated that the I Am Jazz star was doing great after her surgery, Derick made sure to let his followers know he disapproved of the media promoting her surgery.

“This kind of thinking should not be encouraged by media,” Derick, who is married to Duggar daughter Jill, tweeted on Thursday. “A system that allows this kind of child abuse is clearly broken.”

The tweet, which remained on his Twitter timeline as of press time, got the Duggar son-in-law a lot of backlash.

“The Duggar women are teen brides, forced to breed their whole lives, and allowed no education and career. That’s abuse,” one person wrote in response to Derick’s tweet.

“You know Derick, I agree with you, but do we need to address it every time a story comes out like this?” another person wrote. “This is a lack of discernment on your part considering this got you in hot water with previous employers. By all means, proclaim the Gospel, do so wisely, though.”

As The Ashley previously reported, TLC ended its relationship with Derick after he posted a string of tweets last year attacking Jazz and the transgender community. (He has maintained that he was not fired from ‘Counting On’ and chose to leave the show on his own.)

Since getting the boot from TLC, Derick has continued to post tweets about TLC reality TV shows that discuss the LGBTQ community. Last month, he targeted Lost In Transition, stating that the show, which follows married couples dealing with the transition of one partner, should not celebrate transitioning people, as they are mentally ill.

“It sounds like Derick has a little too much time on his hands. If you need something to do, come see me Derick. I need help painting the house and reflooring the kitchen!”

In April, he attacked another TLC reality show, calling designer Nate Berkus‘s new show Nate & Jeremiah By Design (which features his husband, Jeremiah Brent and their daughter Poppy) “a travesty of family.”

“[Their lifestyle] affect(s) this poor child, as well as what perversions are celebrated,” Derick wrote. “If it were adultery, I doubt a network would be so quick to focus on the reality of it as if it were OK.”

Derick’s wife, Jill, has remained relatively silent in regard to her husband’s frequent rants against the LGBTQ community. However, last month she posted a message to Instagram that seemed to be her response to what Derick has said in the past.

  1. Why does it seem like he’s obsessed with Jazz? I think he’s mad that she works for TLC and TLC fired him??‍♀️

  2. I agree with Derick on this one. Jazz should not be allowed to make these life-altering decisions until he (yup, he will always be a he) is at the very least, 18 years of age. TLC should have never promoted this about a minor. No one needs to hear about a kid’s penis being turned into a fake vagina.

  3. I just don’t understand why Derrick has to continue to poke this issue. It has already go him in trouble. Why does he not get on the real issue he has going on in his own extending families life like teenage pregnancy, lack of jobs, infidelity (Ashley Madison), and molestation. We all have our problems but there is no need to keep bring up how must you disagree with one thing when your life is under a microscope.

  4. I’m pretty sure he has all the time in his life to post sh*t like this because he is jobless and his marriage isn’t as shiny as he and Jill try to show it in pictures either. I’m sure he would divorce if he could but he can’t so he lashes out on someone more famous than him. Pathetic for a 28-year old man to attack a 16-year old child. Does it really affect you so much, Derdick?!

  5. If we want that loser guys opinion we’ll beat it out of him. Just shut your mouth and enjoy your cult where your women have no education, and just have more babies to add to this weird cult. Stay in your lane, weirdo

  6. Um his brother in law is a child molester which last I checked is child abuse. Yet he doesn’t say a word about him. This guy probably wants to be a woman that’s why he talks about it so much. He also looks like he could benefit from a shower.

  7. It’s people like Derick Dillard who make Christians look bad. He doesn’t even see the abuse in his own family. Otherwise, I would agree with him, because I’m a Christian too.

    1. Ugh…you would agree with him because you are Christian? There are plenty of Christians who do NOT agree with him. YOU are makingChristians look bad with that statement

  8. Derick needs to get.a job, do some housework, and take care of all of his children. It seems he has too much time on his hands, why does he care so much about what Jazz does?

  9. As odd as Derick is, I have to say that I agree that a CHILD should not be able to have such a drastic procedure done. The parents should have put their foot down and made Jazz wait. I think the same thing about all the hormones and blockers.

    1. 100%, after 18, go for it…before 18, Mom and Dad grow a spine, I know they wanted a daughter but come the fk on..

    2. I have to agree. She should have to wait until she turns 18 and I also don’t think her parents should be expected to shoulder the bill of the procedure, she should. Sometimes on the show the father says, “maybe we should wait until you are 18, I don’t know if you are mature enough” and Jazz always gets an attitude and says, “its my decision, not yours.” She essentially bullies her parents I have noticed. The thing is she is dead wrong, it is actually their decision until she turns 18. She is quite disrespectful towards her parents and grandparents, her father especially when he does not agree with her. Even the other three siblings in the house make side comments about how Jazz always has to be the center of attention and how Jazz has always gotten all the attention from their parents. It is kind of sad. I feel bad for the other kids in the family. I have zero problem with transgender people, but I do have a problem with self entitled, mean people, and unfortunately I think Jazz falls into that category. She is pretty mean to a lot of other kids too. There was an episode where she was set up on a date with another transgender teen female to male and Jazz acted like she was too good to be with him. She ignored him and was not nice. I almost got the impression that she thought she was too good to date a transgender person. There are also scenes in the first or second season where her friends tell her that she is essentially a bad friend because all she ever wants to do is talk about herself and her problems and she won’t listen to them at all. They tell her this because she inquires as to why they have stopped inviting her to places. By the next season it is said, in the beginning, that she now has pretty much no friends except for one. I am certain it is because she is so self involved. Anyone who watches the show will know what I mean.

  10. Oh wow, someone has a politically incorrect opinion. Let’s torch his entire life! *360 degree eye roll*

    1. No derelict. You did a pretty good job of torching your own life. Keep up the good work. I said work. Do u know what that word means?? It means earning money for your family by having a job. Maybe spend more time online trying to find a job.

  11. Ugh.. this loser. Maybe if he had more things going on in life like having a job he wouldnt have so much time on his hands to make comments on every gay or trans. Persons life. Like anyone cares what is opinion is. He abuses my eyes everytime i have to see his pictures on the news. Pretty sure he so upset over these peoples lives because he wishes he was living it. Hes definetly closeted. What happened on your missions in central america derrick? The only mission he was on was finding dick.

  12. So you have to be 18-21 to smoke, 21 to drink, and have a couple kids already and counseling as an adult before you are allowed to get your tubes tied. BUT… You can be a teenager and we all know how smart teenagers are, and get your genitals removed.
I would say yes that is child abuse. If he/she changes their mind after the fact I think they have a strong lawsuit against the doctor since he/she is not old enough to even legally sign a contract.

    1. You know, regardless of how one feels about transgenders, you can’t knock that logic. She’s very young. But she also has been living as a girl for 10 years. So I don’t know. All I know is I feel bad for her.

  13. He has a lot of nerve to be talking about others, look at that screwed up family, his brother-in-law is a molester! What kind of child abuse is he even talking about, Jazz knows her identity, bottom line!!!

  14. So your brother-in-law molesting his sisters and not being punished and allowed to remain in the home should be considered child abuse also right??

    1. No need to try to say it better myself plus the quote above someone Tweeted back in response: “The Duggar women are teen brides, forced to breed their whole lives, and allowed no education and career. That’s abuse.”

Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
