The Hills are alive…with some low-key shade!
Kristin Cavallari made her return to reality TV this year, starring in the E! show Very Cavallari, but her former ‘Hills’ co-star Lo Bosworth made it clear that fans won’t be seeing her on her own reality TV show any time soon.
In an interview with Us Weekly last weekend, Lo— who got her start on Laguna Beach— bashed reality TV shows in general, insinuating that shows about businesses (such as, um…’Very Cavallari’…) are especially bad.
“I’m a feminist and I find that a lot of the storylines portrayed on reality television aren’t particularly supportive of women or their missions in life or their businesses,” Lo said when asked if she would ever do a show about her business. “So, it’s just not something that’s for me.”
Lo continued her anti-reality-TV rant.
“I know how reality television operates and I’m not interested in perpetuating a culture of drama around anyone or anything. It’s just not who I am,” she said. “I don’t like to gossip about people. I don’t like to cause trouble.”
Kristin’s reality show focuses on her marriage to Jay Cutler, as well as the inter-employee relations at her new Uncommon James store in Nashville. ‘Very Cavallari’ also has its fair share of employee drama, which, according to Lo, is something she wants nothing to do with.
“When you invite the cameras into your life, you have to anticipate that [drama] is part of the situation,” she told Us Weekly. “Whether you fully anticipate it or not, that’s how it works. For me, that’s not how I choose to live my life. I choose to live my life in positivity, spreading a message of proactive, self-care culture for women.”
Apparently, Lo’s “proactive, self-care culture” does not include her hanging out with her old pals from ‘The Hills.’
Back in February, Lo said on her podcast that a ‘Hills’ reunion was out of the question for her. Lo and other cast members from the show have stated that MTV execs were trying to get the old gang back together again earlier this year for a reunion but it failed.
“I was like, ‘F**k, no! I don’t want any association with those people,’” Lo said in February in regard to being asked to do the ‘Hills’ reunion. “I think everybody actually feels that way about their coworkers, which is really what the ‘The Hills’ was. They were all just my f**king coworkers. It was a job. A j-o-b.”
Lo can probably forget about getting that “friends and family” discount at Kristin’s store…

I think the show is afwul. It is boring and her husband is just an annoying ass. Fail.
Lo isn’t interesting enough to have her own reality show anyway. Kristin always played the mean girl, but she was an entertaining mean girl, and you could tell she had a nice side to her…Plus I like Very Cavallari…Lo ALWAYS seemed like a genuine mean girl…like it’s in her being, and that’s who she genuinely is. I would never watch her show, and would probably be a total bomb.

I watched the first two episodes of Very Cavallari and I was instantly annoyed at the redhead being a big baby and trying to make something out of nothing with the manager. It felt SO manufactured. Also, her JOB is to post on Twitter and she won’t even do that? Ugh, kids today….
I live in a suburb of Nashville and am a tad curious where the store is located. Anyone know? Downtown maybe? I probably can’t afford anything anyway. I did read that she and Jay purchased land in Leiper’s Fork, it’s so beautiful there. They can just swoop in and buy what people who live here dream of…

I agree with the other two comments! First of all no one would know who Lo was or cared what she has to say if it wasn’t for reality tv. Secondly, just because the Hills was a reality show that was pretty fake and had a lot of producer input, that doesn’t mean that all reality shows are like that and I think it is unfair for her to compare them and judge this harshly.
It’s pretty sad that she says she’s so above all of the drama and bringing women down when that is exactly what she was doing in that article!
Lo was asked specifically if she would ever do a reality TV show for her business. I don’t see where Lo was trying to bash Kristin because of “Very Cavallari”.

I thought Lo always came across as very bitchy on Laguna Beach and The Hills. Strange how she’s now above reality tv but not above making catty comments about it.
Exactly! I always thought she was very gossipy but all of a sudden “doesn’t like to gossip about people”. She also instigated a lot of the drama on The Hills (not sure about Laguna Beach, didn’t really watch it) e.g. with Audrina
I’ve watched Cavallari’s show and it seems to me she’s matured…the only drama on the show is with her young employees, and she doesn’t get involved on their level. I actually find her assertive, ambitious attitude quite refreshing and not at all anti-feminist. Can’t help but notice how Lo THINKS she hates to gossip and talk badly about other women, but then goes ahead and does just that. Just makes her seem to have a superior and self-righteous attitude, imo. She would have come across a lot better if she would have said a lot less.
