Two months after police raided her Staten Island home, the District Attorney’s office has announced that prosecutors have dropped the charges against former Mob Wives star Drita D’Avanzo.
Drita was in court on Friday when the announcement was made; however, her husband Lee unfortunately is not expected to receive as positive of an outcome.
As you may recall, despite Drita being arrested along with Lee in December for gun and drug charges following the raid of their home, Drita was allegedly not the target of the search warrant. During the search of the D’Avanzo home, the NYPD allegedly found two loaded handguns, 120 pills of hydrocodone/acetaminophen, 22 Xanax pills and a large amount of marijuana.
At the time, the items uncovered resulted in Drita and Lee being booked on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of marijuana, criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of drug paraphernalia. The couple was also booked on one count of acting in a manner injurious to a child, allegedly due to one of their children being in the home at the time of the raid.
While the charges against Drita have now been dropped, the feds are reportedly taking over the case for Lee, indicting him for possession of firearms and marijuana by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.
“I have no time to celebrate because my husband is not home but I am very happy with the outcome,” Drita told reporters outside of the courthouse last week. “All I am focusing on right now is the fact that this turned out good.”
Drita has since shared a message with both her supporters and haters on social media.
“Just want to thank everybody that had sent well wishes for me and my family and for those that didn’t and had negative sh[*t] to say [middle finger emoji] time to focus on positive things,” she wrote on Instagram.
