Tom Schwartz Talks About the Future of ‘Vanderpump Rules’ & Says He May Be “In Denial” About Cast Firings

“Cheers to more seasons of ‘Vanderpump Rules’…and me not having to get a real job!”

Tom Schwartz is optimistic that Vanderpump Rules can (and will) continue on, despite the recent firings of two of the show’s most-popular cast members.

On Tuesday, Lala Kent and Randall Emmett were joined on their Give Them Lala … With Randall podcast by their ‘Vanderpump Rules’ costar Tom. During the 45-minute episode, the trio talked about a few ‘VPR’-related topics including the future of the show in the wake of recent high-profile cast firings, and the state of Tom Sandoval and Jax Taylor‘s friendship.

“I hope it doesn’t seem like a cop-out, but I just honestly haven’t processed it,” Tom responded when asked about the firings. “Maybe I’m running from it a little bit, or I’m in denial that it ever happened.”

Tom didn’t name names or address recent controversies on the podcast episode, but was obviously talking about Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute, two ‘Vanderpump Rules’ stars he has a long history with who were fired from the show back in June for racist actions they’d taken against cast mate Faith Stowers.

Tom said, despite not having Stassi and Kristen on the cast roster any more, there are plenty of ‘Pump’ story lines to interest viewers. (After all, a few of the newbies— Brett Willis and Danica Dowdid their part this week in keeping the drama level high….)

“I don’t know what the future [is but], I’m optimistic about the future of ‘Vanderpump Rules,'” Tom said. “I feel like the show still has legs. I feel like it still has so much life to give, but it’s never going to be the same, that’s for sure.”

Bravo has not yet stated if the show will continue for a ninth season; however, Scheana Shay stated a few weeks ago that the ‘VP’ cast has yet to start filming for another season.

During the podcast interview, Tom also discussed the rift between Tom Sandoval and Jax.

When your friends are feuding but that’s none of your business…

“I love my friends and I support them, and it’s been rough, but we’ll be OK, we’ll get through it, everyone will be OK,” Tom said.

“We’re the Three Amigos and those are the people I met first in LA, Tom then Jax, we lived together for two years before the show started and we bonded on a very deep level,” Tom continued. “I love those guys, and to see them, where they are now, barely talking or acknowledging each other’s existence, it hurts, once again, I feel like a child of divorce. Jax has ‘Tom, Tom and I’ tattooed on his arm. I’m optimistic that they’ll be friends again someday, I just don’t know if it will ever be like it used to be, something just feels different this time and it’s really a bummer.”

  1. He should have been fired way before. I don’t think Stassi or Kristen did anything that bad. The 2 new guys did some really bad things yeah young but. It’s not fair. I’ll miss the real OGs
