Backsliding & A Baby On The Way: TLC Releases ‘1000-Lb. Sisters’ Season 2 Teaser

Drama and a baby on board…

Season 2 of 1000-Lb. Sisters premieres next month on TLC, with Amy Slaton preparing to welcome her first child and her sister Tammy Slaton struggling to maintain her weight loss goals after “falling off the wagon.”

In People’s first look at the new season, 33 year-old Amy shares that she and her husband Michael are expecting their first child. While Amy says having a baby is “everything [she’s] always wanted,” she reveals she did not follow her surgeon’s advice to wait to have children. She became pregnant just four months after her successful bariatric surgery.

“Sorry, doc!”

“[He] told me to wait two years,” Amy says in the clip. “Oops.”

Later in the teaser, Amy opens up about the “unknowns with this pregnancy,” admitting that “anything could go wrong.”

“Amy got pregnant way too soon after surgery,” Tammy adds. “It could possibly kill her in the end.”

While Amy faces a potentially risky pregnancy, Tammy struggles to maintain the weight loss goals previously set by her doctor.

“Yeah doc… I’m sorry, too.”

“I had reached Dr. Proctor’s goal for surgery, but I’ve fallen off the wagon,” she says.

In the clip, Tammy’s brother offers to drop some pounds alongside Tammy as a way to help his sister stay motivated, but Amy worries that Tammy’s boyfriend Jerry will do just the opposite.

“Who, me?!”

“I don’t trust him,” Amy says. “She needs somebody that’s going to motivate her in this weight loss, not just want her to stay the way she is.”

‘1000-Lb. Sisters’ returns Monday, January 4  on TLC. Check out the Season 2 teaser below.

  1. Congratulations on the new baby. That is her husband. I love this show and glad it is coming back on. Haters need to stop making comments about these women. You have no idea as to why they are obese.

  2. Wow. I don’t watch this show but how someone could get to 1000 lbs and not really have a problem with it, is frightening. This Amy chick sounds SUPER irresponsible and is putting her child AND herself is pretty big danger from what I understand. Even at 200+ lbs my friend was at high risk because of her weight and she didn’t even have surgery. Sounds like this chick is not the brightest crayon in the box. She sees it as an “oops” but she could have taken precautions and really, it’s not an “oops” type of thing… It’s pretty serious.

    2. 1,000 pounds is the combined weight of the two. I don’y think that’s true just a name for the show I guess

  3. I originally watched this show due to pure quarantine boredom, but I actually enjoyed it. Man alive- people get so heated about fat people in the comments. I can’t help but think that it must be some reflection of self loathing…

They are really self aware regarding their issues and it was insane to see their eating habits- but they were still entertaining outside of that. The food habits were really unbelievable, though.

The ultimate point of the last season was to show the struggle to break from all self destructive habits. I personally think the shows where the women look like blow up dolls are disgusting. I’d rather watch something like this where they have one foot in some form of reality. If they weren’t a little weird/hillbilly or messed up then why would they be on TV?

    It’s entertaining.

  4. In response to the kerfuffle above, it is really hard to imagine how anyone could attain that level of morbid obesity, and, frankly, it’s hard to see (which is why I can’t watch).

These women need professional psychological help; their life choices are self-sabotaging—including the choice to become pregnant so soon after surgery.

So much more to say, but I’m not sure I can say it diplomatically, so I’ll end with I hope they get the help that they desperately need.

    1. I completely agree. It is VERY rare that JUST a health condition is a reason for obesity. I’ve honestly never known anyone that fell into that category that was actually SUPER big. It’s normally the one’s that have no excuse- they’re just lazy and have terrible eating habits. What I will never understand about people who sympathize with these people is, look, these people didn’t just wake up one day at 1000 lbs. It’s a process. You see it happening, you CAN stop it or slow it, but you remain lazy and unmotivated and the pounds just keep coming. You can exercise, slow down your eating, come up with a healthy eating plan… But they just want to sit around and complain- nothing else. Oh- or have a surgery as a quick fix. I worked with a very large woman that was very unhappy with her weight. She has gastric bypass and was told to follow doctor’s orders. Well, what happened? She came in every day with McDonald’s breakfasts and would also partake in a donut or TWO in the same damn day. Many of us would walk around the business park on breaks or lunch and she would just… sit. She gained ALL of the weight back and more and then had the audacity to complain and said the surgery wasn’t “done properly” LOL. No, you just didn’t want to do the work necessary. There are some people that are able to do it the old fashioned way- they diet and start developing health habits like working out, hiking, walking… If you get a surgery, you should be GRATEFUL and FOLLOW doctor’s orders, period.

    1. Maybe instead of making comments like “that’s disgusting” and instead giving encouragement that they can lose weight would help a lot of people….
