‘sMothered’ Season 3 Star Rykia Lewis & Her Mom Karla McCoy Talk About Rykia’s Decision to Be a Surrogate: “I Can Bless Someone” 

The new season of sMothered introduces viewers to three new mother-daughter duos, including Karla McCoy and her daughter Rykia Lewis –– the latter of whom revealed in the Season 3 premiere on Sunday that she decided to be a surrogate and was four months along in her pregnancy at the time the episode was filmed. 

During the episode, Karla said she fully supported her daughter’s decision to be a surrogate, Starcasm reports. As for her decision, Rykia said after reading more about the couples seeking a surrogate, she realized “I can bless someone.” 

“I know what it was like for me to give birth to my son and being so happy in that moment,” she said. “I can’t imagine what they’re gonna feel like! So, it’s a good feeling because I know that I’m doing something good.” 

Aside from doing something good, Rykia has since taken to social media to let her followers know she’s doing well and has no regrets about her decision.

“For the past 9 months I carried a beautiful bundle of joy for a very deserving family,” she shared last month on Instagram. “It will definitely go down as one of the most rewarding things I have ever done for someone else in my whole life.” 

Rykia has also kept fans updated on her “Postpartum Transformation,” reminding them they “cannot control what mother nature has in store.” Still, Rykia told fans that less than a month after giving birth, she’s close to where she once was, however she still has “a journey ahead” of her.

“I’m looking forward to bouncing back and being better than ever!” Rykia added.
