  1. I live in Kansas real close to a Mennonite community and they’re really nice people and make amazing furniture so it’s fine

  2. In regards to Jana Duggar–what they believed was the Bible. If she joined her hubby’s church & it was Mennonite there’s not a lot of difference. The doctrine ( core beliefs of a denomination differ). That’s ok & isn’t a big difference except not as strict nor have as many imposed rules that were man-made trying to interpret what the Scriptures in the Bible state. That’s why there are so many ‘ Christian’ churches but they differ in core beliefs but believe we’re all the same in Christ. God is our Creator. We say He’s our Triune Deity meaning God the Father, Jesus His Son ‘ our Savior & the Holy Spirit are 3 deities in one. They have different functions. So it is not big deal that Jana became Mennonite unless they’re the cult ones who d o n’t use electricity & all women wear the same dresses all the time ‘ all men wear the same outfits all the time. I think the men also grow beards. The Mennonite church Jana s in are progressive. They’re like every normal person except as Christians vomit their lives to following the teachings of Christ in Scripture have a personal relationship w/God through Christ b/c we understand why he was crucified then rose from the grave 3 days later to redeem humankind & the world for those who choose to believe in Him as their personal Savior & the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin & we become reborn into ppl who want to live our lives for God by His Holy Spirit’s Power. But we’re not perfect until we die & come face to face w/God in Heaven where we give an account for all we’ve ever done or thought in our lives. Then we receive rewards for how we’ve lived our lives & are changed into perfect beings w/perfect bodies & minds. We all get along & the Bible says there’s no evil there nor night. All creatures get along instead of being prey. So in conclusion Jana is living her life committed to God & her hubby . She’s enjoying being in a different denomination as my hubby & I have done for yrs. We married in c a Baptist church, learned the Bible in an associated Gospel church, participated in the Missionary & Alliance churches, enjoyed visiting Charismatic churches & Pentecostal churches. Now we are content worshipping @ the Presbyterian church. Christians are everywhere! No big deal about Jana–she did not join a cult !

Next, Statler.has mental illness & we see part of it played out on “90 Day Fiancé” as well as Instagram. The production crew are doing everyone. A favor unlike when they st Angela rant & go on like a mob boss wife or the Ukrainian gal who has trust issues & cited very immature & inconsiderate b/c she thought someone in movies or tv series would watch & turn her into a famous, rich style. These were wasted of air so ty TLC for the 1st time yoh are considering the viewers & the true continuity of ppl’s true love of bad break-ups.

  3. As a Mennonite, glad Jana is finding some freedom. I’m assuming they’re MCUSA so much more liberal than the traditional view of mennonites.

    1. Why crazy? I’ve not read anything crazy about the Wissmans yet. They seem a lot more reasonable than the Duggars and their religion.

        1. I’m guessing your knowledge of Mennonites is severely limited, and likely mostly all bad as well. While there can be, and are, plenty of problems in some communities, most Mennonite communities are far from crazy (and they’re all certainly far better than her parents’ religion, even the worst communities, which isn’t saying much).

I happen to live in an area with a very significant population of Amish and Mennonite communities. The Amish tend to have more issues (when there are any) than all of the Mennonite communities combined. My husband works with a great deal of them, as do some of my young adult/teen kids. Because the population is so vast here, we get to see all sides of both religions/ways of life, the good, the bad and the indifferent. The good nearly always outweighs the bad-which would seem implausible to some because all they ever get to read or see is the bad. Few ever pay any amount of attention to any of the good aspects, and it certainly isn’t newsworthy. I can’t even tell you how many times all of the different communities have come together to help one another, to help others outside their communities/churches, let alone what they bring to the area from both economic and agricultural standpoints.

Just as with any other grouping of people in society, there are good and there are bad aspects. But I’d hardly call it crazy or a fire to become a Mennonite, especially when it’s being done as a measure to move way from something that is an abusive in every single way possible cult that has absolutely no positive attributes.

  4. It was nice getting to know Mary Schmucker. She was the best of that show, with a heart as big as her body. Super fun too! I loved it when she scored herself a classic Trans Am. LOL!

Sad to see her go. Hope she doesn’t have to suffer much longer.
