Jenelle Evans appears to be working to build her case against her estranged husband David Eason.
The Ashley can exclusively reveal that the fired Teen Mom star requested— via her TikTok attorney Brandon Pettijohn— that the judge in her divorce case give her more time to respond to the claims David made in his court filings last month. (The Ashley broke the story that, in his official response to Jenelle’s 2024 divorce complaint, the employment-challenged former soulmate of Jenelle denied most of Jenelle’s claims against him and demanded full custody of their daughter Ensley, as well as child support and more.)
On Wednesday, a North Carolina judge approved Jenelle’s request for additional time to prepare her reply to David’s counterclaim. While Jenelle technically still had a few days left before her deadline to respond, she asked the judge for an additional 30 days to get things ready.
“Good cause exists for an extension of time,” she insisted in the court paperwork, obtained by The Ashley.
Jenelle and her attorney will now have until May 26 to prepare her reply to David’s claims.
In his counterclaim last month, David addressed all of Jenelle’s allegations regarding his treatment of her and her kids, and why he hasn’t seen or spoken to Ensley in more than a year. He insisted that the restraining order Jenelle filed against him last year prevents him from contacting his daughter, and stated that– despite Jenelle’s claims— he had been the primary caregiver of Ensley, as well as Jenelle’s sons Jace and Kaiser, during their time on The Land.
David asked that the court grant him the “care, custody and control” of Ensley instead of Jenelle. He did, however, ask that a judge require Jenelle to pay him child support.
“Jenelle Eason is an able-bodied female capable of providing support and maintenance for the use and benefit of [Ensley] when custody of [Ensley] is awarded to the defendant, David Eason. David Eason will be entitled to support from the Plaintiff, Jenelle Eason, for the use and benefit of the minor child,” he wrote.
In his answer filed in March, David asked that the court divide the marital and divisible property unequally, in favor of him. He also wants Jenelle to pay his court and attorney fees, among other things.
As The Ashley previously reported, Jenelle has been catching a lot of flak online in recent weeks since The Ashley broke the news that the fired ‘Teen Mom’ star had called 911 on her son Jace earlier this month. In the 911 call (which can be heard below), Jenelle accused the 15-year-old of “smashing” everything in her house. She later asked the responding police officers to put Jace on a 72-hour involuntary mental health hold but they refused.
Despite this, Jenelle continued to party— proudly posting photos of her and her back-from-the-swamp bestie, Tori Rhyne (who is currently visiting Las Vegas from North Carolina), out drinking and shooting photos for OnlyFans. While Jenelle attempted to (sort of) defend herself, she still got slammed online for failing to put her kids first and focusing on going out.
In a strangely worded comment made on Facebook last week, Jenelle stated that she has to “force herself to be a mother before anything else.”
Jenelle and David are due to have their next divorce court hearing next month.

Let’s not forget that Jenelle was ruining jaces life long before David came along. Let’s not forget that Jenelle was the money in their marriage. Let’s not forget that Jenelle didn’t care at all about what David did to these kids. Let’s not forget that she stayed with him so that she didn’t have to be bothered to mother these kids. Let’s not forget David could’ve never harmed a single one of these kids if Jenelle hadn’t allowed it. Jenelle is the root cause of what these kids have been through. Jenelle is the one who screwed jace up LONG before David even showed up. Then she loved, respected, defended, and chose David over Jace. If you ask me, those hands that hurt Jace were Jenelle’s hands too.
Jenelle proved to the world that when she was tired of David, he was gone and done and she holds all the power. So that tells us so much about all that time she couldn’t be bothered to protect her own kids.

She literally sold THE SUN an article about David’s search warrant yesterday and that happened 10 months ago? David is a piece of crap but so is Jenelle, if one is going down, BOTH need to go down! You side with the children. Jenelle is no better than David. She just has money, doesn’t make her or never did make her a good Mom or parent. David did care and cook for the children, we saw that. Jenelle was constantly in her Shed or glamming herself up for hours for her to post videos and photos. My heart breaks for those kids.

I would really like to hear Jace’s side of everything that happened to him. I hope he does a live and exposes the truth one day. To know what he thinks, what he wants, where he would like to live.

A Live on some kind of social media platform is fleeting, can be seen as being done “out of spite without thinking it thru,” or “in reaction to whatever Jenelle posted last,” and will never reach as many people who are interested in knowing the truth (like me! I’m almost 40 years old and don’t have a TikTok, but the “teen moms” are literally my same age and I follow them here, on the Ashley!).
A book is a slow job….it requires publishers, lawyers, ghost writers, editors, rewrites, refining…. and the best part, is in the end, Jace makes a good amount of money for himself to keep!
A book that is 2 years in the making, also can’t be written off/categorized as the “same kind of thing,” as Amber’s TikTok Live rant/cries, or Jenelle’s social media rant-posts.

If we just look at what was filed, David would never get custody. He’s also an able bodied adult who’s capable of working and providing for the child, but seemingly doesn’t. He filed paperwork claiming he can’t meet his own basic needs. So why would any judge grant him custody?

I feel so bad for these children. It is heart breaking that their mother has more than enough money to provide them with a high class childhood, yet this is who she chooses to be. What is even harder to swallow is that they probably would be atleast cared for by David, even as unfit as he is, he would likely parent them more than Jenelle would. I hope they grow up to use the world’s distaste for Jenelle to provide themselves a good life. They could easily provide for themselves, lavishly at that, if they speak out.
