Rilah Ferrer is preparing to become a mother of two this year as the former Unexpected star revealed this week that she and her boyfriend are expecting their first child together.
On Wednesday, Rilah reposted a photo of a positive pregnancy test to her Instagram Story, which had originally been posted by her boyfriend (and presumed baby daddy), a man named Eddie.
“Blessing to the new year!” Eddie captioned the photo on his Instagram Story. “My greatest gift.”
After sharing Eddie’s post, Rilah went on to include a photo of three positive pregnancy tests in a “first week of January” collage she posted to her Instagram Story.
As ‘Unexpected’ viewers may remember, Rilah is already a mom to daughter Malayah, whom she welcomed with then-boyfriend Anthony Vanelli on Season 3 of the TLC series. In early 2020, Rilah announced on Twitter that she would not be returning to ‘Unexpected’ for Season 4, citing the show’s editing as a main factor.
While Rilah and Anthony only appeared on one season of ‘Unexpected,’ fans likely remember Anthony for the many run-ins with the law he’s had following his stint on the reality series, most notably the 2023 stabbing of his mom’s boyfriend, for which Anthony was resentenced in November.
Just last month, Rilah’s legally challenged baby daddy landed behind bars again, this time for a probation violation after failing to remain enrolled (and successfully completing) a required residential treatment program.
Anthony had been ordered to attend a dual-diagnosis inpatient treatment program at his November resentencing, where he was also ordered to participate in two years of community control (AKA house arrest, but with the opportunity to leave for things like work or treatment), as well as three years of probation. His next hearing is set for February 9.
While Rilah has not commented on Anthony’s latest legal issues, she previously sounded off on social media after his initial arrest for the 2023 stabbing, telling fans that she hadn’t allowed Anthony to be around their daughter “in years.”
“His family was pressing me about not letting him be around Malayah and I rest my case,” she commented on a post by the @tlc.unexpectedteaa Instagram account. “He’s a nut job and I haven’t had my daughter around him in years.”
Rilah has yet to reveal the due date for her second child.
She is not the only ‘Unexpected’ alum who will welcome a baby in 2026. Season 4 star Mykra Cantu is expecting her fourth child in March.
