‘Sister Wives’ Star Mykelti Brown Says Her Family Worried That Her Patreon Episode About Meri Brown’s Alleged Abuse Would “End the Entire Show”

“Sorry for nearly derailing the gravy train, guys!”

Mykelti Brown recently revealed that a years-old post about Meri Brown on her and husband Tony Padron’s Patreon landed the pair in hot water from family members who feared at the time that her claims would “completely end” Sister Wives, as well as the hefty paychecks they were receiving from the long-running TLC series.

During an interview on The Sarah Fraser Show last week, Mykelti– one of Kody Brown and ex-wife Christine’s six children– and her husband were asked to reveal which post or video they’ve shared over the years that caused the most “backlash, drama [or] discussion” from members of Mykelti’s family. After little to no hesitation, Mykelti explained that a Patreon video she and Tony recorded years ago ruffled some feathers in her family, due entirely to a particular word she used in the video while discussing alleged incidents involving her dad’s former wife Meri.

“…to be this disliked in such a public manner. I don’t know how Kody handles it.”

“ … I can’t say the word because I’ll get flamed for it,” Mykelti said. “So I’m going to say it without saying it. At the beginning of our Patreon, I [said] a word that Meri did to us kids and because of that word, it caused a ton of backlash and a ton of negative stuff and we got in, like, severe trouble [with] family [and] other people.

“Like, it was like, ‘Don’t say that word, ‘cause the word can completely end the entire show, it could end all of our income, it could make investigations happen, because that word in 2024 means something different than it did in 2009 [or] in the 2000s … ,’” she continued.

Mykelti added that she was warned that “a lot more context” is needed when using this particular word, and that it could even lead to her needing to give an affidavit based on the claims she was making.

“You’re gonna have some RILL explaining to do, Mykelti!”

“So that word, I said it once and I explained it a tiny bit but not enough … ,” she said.

While Mykelti didn’t reveal the video or word that brought on the backlash, she was seemingly referring to comments she made in January 2023 about Meri being “abusive” towards her and other children in the Brown family.

As The Ashley told you at the time, Mykelti posted the Patreon video in response to statements several of her siblings had made about Meri allegedly being abusive and Meri being particularly cruel to Mykelti. Earlier that month, Mykelti’s brother Paedon alleged in an interview that Kody’s fourth (and now only) wife Robyn alerted the other adults in the family to Meri’s alleged abuse, claiming that Robyn, “probably saved several of our lives … Definitely saved Mykelti’s life.”

Paedon also clarified that Meri’s alleged abuse of Kody’s kids was not just verbal.

Paedon’s claims came several years after Kody and ex-wife Janelle’s daughter Madison tweeted about growing up with an “abusive human” who was a “monster.” Paedon later confirmed that now-deleted Madison’s tweets were, in fact, about Meri.

Meanwhile, Mykelti and Paedon’s sister Gwendlyn in January 2023 confirmed Paedon’s claims about Meri putting her hands on Mykelti, noting that it only happened once, but that Meri “had moments where she was rude and scary” with Mykelti and other kids in the family.

While responding to her siblings’ statements that month, Mykelti confirmed that Meri was allegedly abusive to some of the kids in the Brown family; however, she denied that Meri ever got physically violent with her, as Paedon and Gwen had claimed.

“I’m speaking on my own personal experiences and opinion of Meri Brown,” Mykelti said. “I don’t want to discount my siblings’ experiences with her, though. I don’t remember Meri ever being physically abusive to me, but she was very emotionally and verbally abusive to all of us when we were younger, until I think we got old enough and she stopped because, I don’t know, we were able to fight back or something I guess.

“We were just too old for her to continue,” she added.

Mykelti insisted at the time that Meri would never be part of her life, nor would she be part of her husband or children’s lives “because of the trauma [she] experienced as a child growing up.”

Mykelti has maintained this energy towards Meri throughout the years, even reiterating last month that Meri “was not a good person to [her]” and claiming that her decision to talk negatively about Meri online is her way of getting revenge.

“I have not had good moments with Meri,” she said on Patreon. “She was an awful person to me growing up so I probably need to have my revenge arc of her, and this is the best way that I can do it: speak publicly negatively about her. So, maybe I haven’t healed or moved on either, that’s what this is.”

Mykelti’s mom Christine has also yet to move on from her ill-feelings towards Meri, even revealing in her 2025 tell-all that Meri’s actions towards Mykelti (who was a child at the time) caused her to stop being friends with her fellow sister wife. Christine also chose to not invite Meri to her 2023 wedding to husband David Woolley, despite Meri’s child, Leon, and their partner, Audrey Criss, attending the ceremony.

  1. I’m willing to bet the “abuse” was Meri disciplining Mykelti, which she wasn’t used to (same with Paedon).

Both Mykelti and Kermit the Frog need to get real jobs instead of grifting everywhere. They’re both in their 30’s. Time to grow up.
