“Welcome to Plathville” Stars Ethan & Olivia Plath Are (Finally) Officially Divorced After Refiling: Here’s What Happened

“I’m finally rid of this fair-haired chucklehead!”

It’s finally officially over for Ethan and Olivia Plath.

According to court documents obtained by Starcasm, the Welcome to Plathville stars have officially divorced, just one week after Ethan filed the documents on February 16 in Minnesota

According to the filing, the couple had officially separated in February 2023 after five years of marriage, eight months before Ethan and Olivia announced their breakup on Instagram. (As The Ashley previously reported, Olivia’s sister, Sophia, accidentally revealed the divorce on Instagram before Ethan and Olivia were ready to do so.)

Starcasm also reported that Ethan and Olivia filled out the dissolution forms in December 2023 before she submitted them in February 2024.

As ‘Plathville’ fans may remember, Olivia claimed that the original court filing for dissolution did not go through because Ethan did not fill out the paperwork correctly. Ethan’s “oopsie” was covered on an episode of the show, but Olivia later took to social media to reveal more details.

“Ethan failing miserably at something? I.AM.SHOCKED.”

“What is not shown [on the episode] is he filled them out incorrectly and refused to put financial information which is needed in the state of Minnesota. So the court flagged the papers and [the divorce] never went through,” Olivia explained. “It wasn’t actually filed and we didn’t get divorced. And when I reached out to him to try to get him to fix the paperwork, he blocked me. And I remained blocked for like a year.”

Ethan recently refiled the divorce documents, and a judge approved the dissolution without a hearing on February 23. The couple’s divorce decree was made official on the three-year anniversary of their original separation date.

According to Starcasm, the couple listed “an irretrievable breakdown of the marriage relationship between the parties” as the reason for their divorce.

“I got rid of Kim as a mother-in-law and no longer find stray golden hairs all over. I’m livin’ the dream!”

The speedy divorce was attributed to their work done in advance to avoid disputes in court; the couple also does not share any children, so they were able file and be approved a joint dissolution without a hearing.

The documents stipulate that Ethan and Olivia would retain all personal assets, debts, and bank accounts. Ethan was awarded two Chrysler New Yorkers, a Plymouth, and a Roth IRA. Olivia received a Subaru Outback, a SoFi investment account, and her freelance photography business (Sunshine Media, Inc.)

“You also got me, Ethan!”

The filing details that “neither party is seeking a name change,” which Olivia has talked about at length on social media. The Ashley previously reported that Olivia has explained why she has chosen to keep the Plath name.

“I’m not going to spend my life changing my name depending on what man has current ‘ownership’ of me. I strongly disagree with the sentiment that men ‘own’ last names,” she previously stated.

Over the past year, Oliva has become increasingly vocal about the alleged abuse she suffered from Ethan. In addition, she has spoken out frequently about the problems she had with the ‘Plathville’ production company and how hard it was to get out of her TLC show contract

It is not known why Ethan suddenly decided to put in the work to get his divorce from Olivia finalized. However, last year Olivia alleged that the quick turnaround for divorce comes from pressure from Ethan’s engagement to Teegan Nichols last year. (It is rumored that the couple has since split, though.)

“At first my ex wouldn’t sign divorce papers because he kept thinking I was going to come back… [Then,] he was like, ‘Olivia, I’m sorry I made you wait but we need to get divorced immediately. Please collaborate on this, this needs to happen as soon as possible. I have an attorney, he’ll call you. Get this done please,'” she said.

“Hurry up…and stuff.”

“He sends me a text like, ‘Me and my attorney are fed up with you. We have to get this done. Please stop stalling. Cooperate with me or it’s going to be worse for both of us in the long run,’” she explained. “Then I find out: he got engaged. Imagine proposing to a girl and being like, ‘Will you become my wife?’ and she says yes and having to be like, ‘Oh, I have to legally divorce my other wife first.’”

Ethan and Olivia have yet to comment on the divorce.

  1. They deserve each other lol. He’s a brat, and she’s toxic – like when she was pressuring him to get a tattoo when he didn’t want to, and accusing his sister Moriah and brother Micah to be incestuous.

Moriah was her former best friend, and seemingly has PTSD from witnessing her brother get run over and killed by their own mother, not to mention the mental abuse her mother put her through. How could you accuse someone of such a thing (which is quite a stretch), much less your former best friend?

All this to say, Olivia is not a decent person either. Both she and Ethan (and probably most of the Plath children) need some intense counseling due to their upbringings. Ethan needs specific anger management therapy for sure.

    1. Ethan has his beliefs and Olivia has hers…it just so happens that Ethan’s are right and Olivia’s are wrong.

That whole damn family is better off without that whore. Maybe now they can heal and move on from Olivia’s garbage

    2. And also, the mom wouldn’t have ran over the little boy if Daddy Dearest (Barry) were watching him appropriately
