Seeking Sister Wife star Lorrana Merrifield appears to be taking steps to leave her husband, Garrick Merrifield, less than a month after posting a series of cryptic remarks online in which she claimed that people were trying to take her baby away.  

As fans of ‘Seeking Sister Wife’ know, Lorrana became Garrick’s second wife last year and the two went on to welcome a daughter in July. Four months after Garrick, Lorrana, and Garrick’s first wife, Dannielle Merrifield (who has three kids with Garrick) shared their baby news with fans online, Garrick was arrested in Colorado for obstruction of telephone services and domestic violence against Lorrana. 

While Lorrana publicly confirmed in January that she and Garrick had reconciled and were “moving forward” in the new year, she went on to post a series of alarming videos and comments last month that left many fans of the TLC series both concerned for her wellbeing and questioning the status of her relationship with Garrick.

This week, Lorrana was back to dropping hints online that things have, once again, gone south within the Merrifield’s plural marriage. 

Lorrana, who is from Brazil, told social media followers on Thursday that she was “looking for a referral to a family attorney who speaks Portuguese,” or one who has access to an interpreter who speaks either Portuguese or Spanish. While she didn’t explain why she’s seeking an attorney at this time, Lorrana claimed that she is “going through a difficult time” and that she planned to start a “fundraising campaign to help with legal costs and to obtain proper guidance.” 

“If anyone can recommend trustworthy professionals or share helpful information, I would really appreciate it,” she added. 

Later that day, Lorrana provided more context to her previous Instagram Story, while continuing to drop hints that she is planning to divorce Garrick. 

“I truly dedicated myself to a big change in my life,” Lorrana wrote. “I never imagined leaving my country believing in a new beginning, building plans, and fully investing myself in this new chapter of my life. Today I am going through a very difficult time while trying to reorganize and rebuild my life. It is an emotionally heavy process, but I am trying to take it one day at a time.

“It has been difficult to understand how something that was once called ‘family’ can be redefined so quickly after a separation,” she continued. “This has made me reflect on how relationships change, on what remains and what transforms over time. I am in the process of emotional learning and trying to move forward with balance.” 

(While she used the word “separation” in her Instagram Story, it’s unclear if Lorrana was referring to a legal separation, or a separate living situation.) 

In a follow-up Instagram Story, Lorrana insisted that she would “not feel ashamed” of what she’s currently going through, as she’s remained “real and honest in everything [she has] lived” and believes that this will become part of her “life testimony.” 

On Friday, Lorrana returned to her Instagram Story to thank those who had reached out in response to her posts on Thursday, while adding that, for now, she preferred “not to go into further details about the situation” in order to protect herself and “handle everything in the best way possible moving forward.” 

“I am praying that everything will be resolved in the best possible way,” Lorrana wrote. “At this moment, I want to focus on myself, my story, and creating content that reflects who I truly am. 

“Thank you again for all the kindness, understanding and support 💛 🙏🏾,” she added.  

Garrick and Dannielle have to yet comment on Lorrana’s latest social media remarks; however, Dannielle mentioned in an Instagram post last week that, “life has been a bit challenging lately.”
