Amanda Conner maintains she’s sober following a drug relapse and wild arrest for DUI and child abuse in May— and now the judge in her case is requiring her to prove it!
The Ashley can exclusively reveal that a new judge has taken over the ‘Teen Mom’ alum’s criminal court case and, at her hearing on Friday, Judge Christie Sell ordered Amanda to now submit to weekly drugs screens. (Amanda had previously been ordered to only undergo random drug testing.)
It is not known at this time why the judge in Amanda’s case made the decision to up the number of Amanda’s drug tests.
As The Ashley previously reported, Amanda told fans that she had court on Friday and stated that she is attending several meetings a week to maintain her sobriety. (We can assume that Amanda is referring to Narcotics Anonymous– or NA— meetings.)
Amanda was arrested on May 24 after her husband Ryan Edwards called the police and reported that Amanda was driving under the influence while their daughter Presley was in the car. Ryan told the cops that Amanda drove away after he tried to get her to take a drug test. Police tracked her down eventually, but Amanda refused to submit to a sobriety test, causing her to receive a charge of violating the Implied Consent law in Tennessee. Because Presley was in the car, she received the child abuse/neglect charge, in addition to a DUI charge and a traffic violation.
Days after her arrest, Amanda posted a video to social media in which she admitted to relapsing on drugs. (As ‘Teen Mom’ fans know, Amanda and Ryan met while they were both in in-patient rehab for substance abuse issues.)
At the time of her arrest, Amanda was already on probation for causing an accident in February. It is unknown if her probation was revoked for that charge when she was arrested in May.
Anyway, the charges against Amanda remain pending at press time. She is next scheduled to appear in court on October 21.
Sources tell The Ashley that Ryan’s parents Jen and Larry Edwards are not paying for Amanda’s legal fees/counsel for her latest arrest, which may explain why Amanda is constantly posting videos in which she’s trying to sell random stuff from the TikTok shop.
“Jen and Larry said no way,” the source told The Ashley. “They may change their mind eventually but [Amanda and Ryan] were told they would not be giving Amanda the money to hire an attorney or anything. They have to pay for it themselves.”
(Amanda is currently employed, though. She recently revealed that she cleans homes and restaurants for a living.)
Although Amanda has kept her followers updated on her recovery, many fans have questioned whether Amanda is, indeed, sober, due to the chaotic (and sometimes just downright odd) videos she’s posted to social media since her arrest. In the comment section of a video posted on Friday following her court hearing, some fans wrote that they are skeptical of Amanda’s sobriety claims.
“Tweaking like a mf’er,” one person wrote in the comments of Amanda’s Facebook post. “Grow up and get clean, you got kids.”
“For someone just scrolling by, they would assume you are on something,” another person commented.
(The Ashley should note, though, that Amanda has received plenty of positive and supportive comments on her videos as well.)
As The Ashley previously told you, Amanda’s case was originally assigned to Judge Gary Starnes, who is an acquaintance of the Edwards family and has handled many of Ryan’s criminal court cases. However, in May, Judge Starnes announced that he is fighting a brain tumor, so that is likely the reason he was taken off Amanda’s case.
UPDATE! Amanda has responded to the story, confirming that Ryan’s parents aren’t paying for her court fees or attorneys.
“Never has anyone offered to pay for them, nor have I asked anyone to pay for them,” Amanda said in a video posted on Tuesday. “I have been getting in trouble since I was 18. I have been dealing with the consequences on my own since I was 18. Been doing all of this since I was 18, on my own. I pay my own court fines, OK?”
Amanda also addressed what else happened at her court hearing, confirming that the judge did, indeed, order her to switch from monthly drug testing to weekly, as The Ashley reported.
“I got pulled in early because the judge wanted to revoke my bond, due to someone calling up there excessively,” she revealed. “This came out of my own PO [probation officer’s] mouth. She said, ‘Girl you have some haters. Someone has been calling up here excessively over the video you posted.”
(Amanda then posted a clip of the video in question, which shows her moonwalking while at work cleaning a restaurant.)

“That video— someone was so bothered by it they called the [District Attorney’s] office, called my PO and was like, ‘Y’all need to revoke her bond. She’s violating the terms…because of [my] sock being under [my ankle monitor] bracelet. Whatever. The judge refused to revoke my bond but she did want to meet to go from monthly to weekly [drug testing].
“That’s fine; I will go daily if she wanted me to,” Amanda continued. “Because [I’m] not doing nothing, so that’s fine. So, whoever tried calling on me, haha you’re mad! Your girl ain’t doing s**t. I go to work and I come home. I’m not doing s**t. So, there you go.”

Could people have called? Sure. But the PO could’ve lied and blamed others instead of saying your videos made us think you’re not clean. She’s still using, I think. Even her explanation screams using. Everyone’s fault but her own.
Of course, Jen and Larry would pay for Ryan’s legal fees. Ryan driving high as a kite to his wedding was the most dangerous scene I’ve ever witnessed in reality TV. The lawyers probably cost, at least, $10,000. Amanda needs to get clean for Amanda. I know it sounds selfish but addicts are some of the most selfish people on Earth. She looks 100x times better when she was sober. Maybe that approach would work.

Anyone who has watched her videos or read the news about her arrest KNOW why the judge upped the number of drug tests. It isn’t rocket science. It isn’t even extrapolation.

This woman is a complete joke.
While it’s depressing that the previous judge has cancer, I think a new judge who actually holds them accountable is exactly what these people need.
Remember the episode where Amanda said if either of them relapsed the relationship would be over? That aged well. I’m sure if somebody brought it up now it’d be a myriad of excuses. ‘We have a child together, we have a life together’ or, my favorite, ‘how dare you try to hold me accountable for something I said when I was probably sober!’
Amanda is a big fucking clown, & Ryan is just along for the ride like he always is.
