Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon’s sexy-time side hustle on OnlyFans backfired in a big way this week after a private school in Georgia rejected her daughter, claiming that Pumpkin’s online activity “does not align with their school.”
The mom of four took to Facebook on Friday to call out John Milledge Academy (JMA) in Milledgeville, Georgia, insisting that the private school “needs to do better.” She went on to explain that her daughter Ella– whom she shares with ex-husband Josh Efird– was “needing a school that could offer her a higher level of academic criteria,” so she decided to transfer her to JMA.
Pumpkin said she spoke with JMA’s admissions department multiple times, paid application fees and was told that Ella could start attending school this week. At the last minute, however, Pumpkin was informed by JMA that her “social media does not align with their school,” and that Ella would not be accepted as a student after all.
As you know, the 26-year-old reality star has been scoring some big paydays in recent months through OnlyFans, where she– sometimes joined by others, including her boyfriend Darrin Kitchens– posts NSFW content. While the steamy (and sometimes “hardcore”) content is reserved for subscribers, Pumpkin frequently posts less-revealing pics and videos to social media to promote her OnlyFans content. She also uses her public social media pages to promote the club appearances she’s been cashing in on as of late.
Pumpkin told fans on Friday that while she understands her “line of work” may not be for everyone, she believes the situation with JMA “could have been handled with more transparency and consideration.” She also insisted that, while the school refunded her for Ella’s application fee, “that is not the point.”
“I am upset about the way the situation was handled and the fact that my child was denied admission because of something connected to ME – after I had already completed the entire process, communicated extensively with admissions, visited the school, and financially committed to paying thousands of dollars for her education,” she wrote. “The attitudes and lack of professionalism displayed by the two gentlemen during that meeting were, in my opinion, absolutely disgusting.”
Pumpkin went on to note the “irony” of the situation, claiming that there are adults associated with JMA who’ve slid into her inbox, “expressing interest in the exact line of work they apparently find so unacceptable.” While she later posted receipts of her prior correspondence with JMA, Pumpkin told followers she was glad that the situation happened sooner rather than later.
“I learned very quickly that this was probably not the environment I want my daughter in anyway,” she added.
Pumpkin’s post was inundated with comments from people siding with JMA, with one person reminding Pumpkin, “everything we do in life will affect our kids in some way.”
“It’s because it’s a private Christian school, and to them, your career would upset other parents and they’d lose a lot of enrollment,” another person wrote.
While Ella is currently paying the price for her mom’s online activities, Pumpkin revealed to TMZ this week that she recently “hit her highest day” on the subscription site, pulling in between $14,000 and $15,000.
“Honestly, I know people don’t agree with what I do and my work … but like, that’s a huge deal for me,” she told the outlet. “It’s like, being humble, being blessed, being very grateful for, like, the amount of opportunities that that’s brought to me, but also, like, the financial stability that that’s brought my entire family.”
Earlier this week, Pumpkin flexed some of that “financial stability” by revealing that she’d banked enough money through OnlyFans to purchase a home.
“What a truly sweet and surreal moment,” she posted, alongside a photo of herself and Darrin holding a “just closed” sign.“Today, we officially paid cash for the home our children have grown up in, and I could literally cry. To know that there are no more payments and that this home is completely ours is a feeling I can’t even put into words.”
Pumpkin went on to call the last six months of her life “a whirlwind of emotions,” as she said she and Darrin have been able to “accomplish things that truly set [their] family up for the future.”
“ … Moments like this make every sacrifice, every hard day, and everything we’ve worked for feel so worth it,” she concluded. “Here’s to making a lifetime more memories and spending forever in our home.”
